I noticed something today I haven't paid attention to until now. I was out looking for a new type-c charging cord my phone, and there are no more phone stores in my neighborhood....NONE. Seems like just yesterday there was one on every corner. And I definitely wasn't paying $13 for one at CVS or Amazon. I just found one online at Walmart for $6.
There's still plenty phone shops here... but I aways buy everything online that I need.. a type C lightening charging cable with extending cables which I bought just recently costs just 70 pence

This morning was so beautiful, I went to a county park and took an hour's walk. The park has a beautiful green spring that usually has a couple of small alligators and a lot of turtles in it, but only the turtles made an appearance today.

I took a long walk on the trail outside the park and got to visit with some beautiful Mini Highland Cattle who came up to the fence to see me. There were signs on the fence saying not to feed the cattle as it might harm them, but the cows distinctly told me to disregard the signs as their owners were old fuddy-duddies. Luckily, I had nothing in my pockets but a phone and a tissue.

I have to wonder how they adjust to our heat.

Strange Coincidences?
This past Tuesday, February 25 was the 38th year of my daughter's passing. It is also George Harrison's birthday, he would have been 82 I believe. That's important to me, as George was this little girl's (me!) favorite Beatle.
Anyway........
On Tuesday, I had a doctor's appointment. Then I had shopping to do, two different stores. I was going to go home after doctor, watch "Young&Restless" then go back out to do the shopping, BUT, my doctor made a special effort to get me in and out quickly. So, I left being able to shop at at least one store, go home, watch Y&R, go back out. However, the one store I went to surprisingly had both the items I needed, so finished my shopping in time to watch my show and did not need to go out again.

The weather was so nice I thought after Y&R I would go out and read. Then, being tired, I changed my mind and decided to stay home.

Unexpectedly, my woman's collective pharmacy called to say they had already filled my prescriptions given to them just an hour ago from my doctor visit. This is most unusual, it usually takes them a whole day or even two. So, I decided to pick them up, drag myself out, though tired. They are only a block away.

Leaving my apartment I immediately ran into Robert, my favorite of the crew who work in maintaining our co-op. He said "You could use a girl." My mind flew to my daughter, but I thought Robert is saying I need an aid to care for me? Then, he said again "you could use a girl." So, I asked him what he meant and he said "You should have had a daughter as well as a son."

Well, I was shocked. I told him what day it was. Of course, Robert never knew I had a daughter. We were both shocked.

I left the building, went to the pharmacy. At the counter, they had filled a bowl with European chocolates. I was urged to take one. When my order was filled, I was again urged to take one when, unexpectedly the pharmacist takes back my bag of prescriptions, dumps ALL the many chocolates in the bowl into the bag. "I want you to have them all," she said.

I left, stunned. My daughter said hello to me, then gave me a gift...........

Didn't she? Or am I just a silly old woman who mourns the loss of her daughter? Those were coincidences, right? Strange coincidences..........

Saw Robert Wednesday morning as I was leaving for AccessARide to visit my grandson. Robert thinks he was "used" to send me a message of love. Out of the blue, picked out of the blue for my girl to say "I love you mommy."

"I love you Mommy, and I send you this gift of chocolates, your favorite."

Nah. Can't be real. Just strange coincidences.
You've made me cry, pepper. Of course those are not coincidences and you are intuitive enough to recognize them. How love!y was that day! 🤗

It's 3.20pm now ...i went out , and was out for 4 hours, and that was not dawdling anywhere. i drove the 40..turns out it's actually 45 miles..but hey.. round trip to return my item.. very easy , no problem at all.. honestly that makes such a change these days..

It was very sunny, but it was bitter cold, absolutely everyone was complining... ooled by the sun everyone was dressed with lighter clothes...mistake !!!

I passed a nail salon, so I stopped there and had my nails done ...

came out of there and went inoto the charity shop next door...and couldn't believe my eyes, spotted the exact chest of drawers I've been looking for , for weeks, and is really expensive.. and they were selling it for £45 in excellent condition ... with £20 delivery charge.. so I bought it of course..

While in there...look what I saw.. a wooden Ewbank carpet sweeper from 1920.. over 100 years old...

Ooh, love that nail color.

For the last few weeks, I have been pruning and cutting trees and creating a huge mess. But for more dangerous work and cleaning up (shredding and bringing everything to the Dump) I had to hire a professional crew for $2.2K. Prices vary greatly. For example, for just taking down the one tree in the last picture, two guys wanted $1.2K. So I did much of the work by myself, and the guy I hired takes down the rest for just $250.

I hire only licensed and bonded outfits with workmen's compensation that are listed at the California State License Board Check A License - CSLB. Unlicensed guys work for less, but if something goes wrong, I would be personally liable and could possibly lose our house and everything else.

My State Farm House Insurance does not cover accidents by occasional workers. The current policy is $1.8K/year but because of the recent Los Angeles fire disaster, the insurance will sharply increase. State Farm and other insurance companies do no longer write new policies in California, while other insurance companies are even leaving California because the fire risks are too high.

The first picture: The visible part of the house used to be the children's play area and houses now the pups when we are away. The open end used to be the "tree house" I built for the kids, but it became termite infested and I had to take it down. The Magnolia Tree in the center is infested by insects and will eventually die. The Siberian Elm on the right is doing great but is actually taking up more space than I intended. At the bottom lies the beautiful but insect killed Silk Tree that I took down by myself.

I was just quoted for taking down, shredding, and bringing the chips to the dump: (a) the Magnolia Tree in the first picture below $350, not bad; but two larger trees in difficult to reach areas (b) $1,400 and (c) $1,800 -- ouch! -- Let's see how much I can do by myslf, and perhaps my son-in-law can help me.

Very, very wise. We won’t hire anyone to do any work on our house who doesn’t have WCB.

Glorious sunny morning..... 🌞 🌞 🌞 50 deg.......

I had a text from the Handyman to say he'll come on Tuesday..hopefully it'll be a dry day

I've just been reading some Blood letting political fighting on the neighborhood App...The water company have increased our charges by 35% , no warning, nothing... so the fighting is going on as to who is to blame...

I wish I'd gone out yesterday instead of today, but the problem with fridays is that the motorway is packed with people leaving London for the country, or the north for the weekend.. so it's no fun driving on the motorway...

I might do a little tidy up in the garden today..I noticed yesterday that the black paint has peeled off in places on my downpipes.. so I'll have to get some black paint and fix that

have a good day my friends... whatever you're doing today

Good morning @hollydolly ETC.
Must take CT scan today. They are checking to see if Lung Cancer returned. I am scared, had cancer twice, hate it, hate it.

I think I will walk both ways. May be easier than waiting for bus. Long walk, hope I'm up for it. Will leave an hour in advance.

A little colder today, back in forties. That's all right, better than being in the twenties.

Can't you wish you any more than you wish yourself Pepper... it must be terrifying ...

i would take the bus if I were you, and walk back.. clear your head... of whatever news you've been given . How long before they give results ?

I see pulmolnology doc next Thursday to read results. This guy saved my life last time and for that I will always love him. He's Russian, and in the fifteen years I've known him, his accent never improved! He teaches University, don't know how his students understand him! He told me his own kids make fun of his accent. He was so dedicated to my case in 2019. I trust him.

Another lovely day after another frosty night. At Mrs. L's 'request', I've been patching up and slightly altering the raised beds in the polytunnel. Mrs. L has been busy sorting out the pottering shed ( sic ) and planting tomato seeds. At least we feel better for getting outside and getting some overdue work done.

For dinner this evening I'm making a fishy medley - Witch, Monkfish tail wrapped in bacon, scallops and prawns. I sometimes make a sauce with the 'coral' from the scallops, but it's an acquired taste.

Have a great day, Hawkie! 🌹

Still sunny now at 4.30pm..but only out the front of the house... the back is now dull... the house is thoroughly aired now having had all the windows open all day

I didn't do any gardening today at all... but I did get the bed changed and the laundry done.

It's now hanging on the rack in the house, which as you all know I've been having to use since the demise of my tumble dryer.. I hate washing drying in the house, and also it all needs ironing while I also despise... none of it ever needs ironing when it comes out of the dryer...

I paid the bills... and I'm just about to order some metal paint for the downpipe.. which had a big chunk of paint come off since we had the heavy rains and winds

Why I swear by having a phone nearby. DH had a medical issue this morning. I grabbed my phone and researched the issue. Did what was suggested and he improved. He would have anyway but this took the stress out of the situation.

Lots of paperwork to deal with today and then walking in the afternoon sunshine.

I found out that the seniors group had started again - last Friday of the month. Today I attended and was very disappointed; it wasn't like when the former director was doing it. We used to have pizza sent in, do a craft and play BINGO. The only food offered was a half-gallon of ice cream and bottled water to drink. The BINGO prizes were mostly Easter themed items and we only played two BINGO games.
