I really miss the squirrels and chipmunks we had in Alabama. Yes, they can be destructive but who or what cannot. On the other hand they were an entertaining bunch especially after we learned to identify individuals. Squirrel stew can be mighty tasty though.
For me, living in the woods, the squirrel population (like anything else) can get out of hand.

Since Goober has been keeping their numbers under control, I do enjoy watching their antics.

Boy! Ma Nature sure was in a bad mood today!!! Severe thunder storms, hail, lightening, tornadoes, flooding, etc!!! And when it was all over, she gave us a beautiful evening!

All that rain made our pond over flow, and that hardly ever happens! The peeper frogs loved it though....they filled the evening with their songs!! I love listening to them! We actually thought that they hadn't survived the winter, but they were out today....only 2 months later than usual.

this is the problem we have . My house backs onto Woodland.. here there's squirrels and lots of other wildlife, but we've never had a problem because we don't feed the wildlife.. but lately my neighbour has taken to doing it, and in this last 6 months it's caused so much damage to my fences...

Is this the same neighbour that has been helping you while you were ill? It’s so much harder to communicate with a nice person who doesn’t understand the problem.

No .. absolutely no... this is the neighbour/s on the other side... 2 spinster sisters in their 60's.. born in that house, never married , never moved away .not entirely a full shilling either one of them...

My wife has an appointment at one o'clock this afternoon, after which she will be back to the fabric shop. There's a fabric strengthener, the name of which, escapes me. It's needed to reinforce the flies, I prefer a buttoned fly rather than a zipper, although with buttons, when the urge to pee happens, don't ignore it. Unfastening fly buttons when the urgency is impressing, is not recommended. Why buttons and not a zipper? Originality I guess.
Probably fusible or non-fusible interlining.

Thanks for the beautiful picture of the sun! Since you are hogging it all to yourself, I was afraid that I might forget what it looked like! 😏

I'm assuming that your DW makes your britches. As we get older, more urgency tends to make "convince" a bigger consideration! 😅

Personally, I was never good at sewing button holes or zippers. I'm more of a straight line sewer: curtains, pillows cases, etc. Also, craft sewing like needlepoint and cross sitch.
My wife's dressmaking has been a lifetime hobby since childhood when her aunt, who was a prolific dressmaker, instructed and helped her.
The name of the lining that I couldn't recall is known as interfacing. This is a photo of the flies on a previous pair of trousers. Apologies if I have shown it before. Old age and amnesia, I couldn't even remember something as simple as interfacing.

There are a few staple proteins that people around the world commonly enjoy: beef, pork, chicken, goat, mutton, and the entire range of fish and seafood. In certain areas, this list expands to things like reindeer, crickets, kangaroo, bison -- and the rising-in-popularity alligator tail meat. But there are meats even beyond that, including those from creatures you might see out and about every day. One of the most notable of these is squirrel.

It may seem odd to a lot of people, but surveys have indicated that around 1.8 million Americans eat squirrel, and there's even a World Squirrel Meat Cook-off in Arkansas that draws tens of thousands of people each year. But is squirrel meat even safe, and what does it actually taste like? The answer to the first question is yes, but the second is a little more complicated. Opinions vary on what squirrel is most similar to, but the closest comparison is typically the meat of another small, furry creature: rabbit.

In our part of PA (Penn's Woods) hunting squirrels was one of the things that a novice hunter would hunt.

One of the neighbor boys asked our son to skin one he just shot.
I've cooked & eaten squirrel that our sons & husband shot.
Takes a lot of squirrels to feed a family!
Sometimes the squirrels start helping themselves too much to the garden. That also love to dig up new onion shoots and others when someone forgot to put wire over them. They multiply almost like rabbits
For these reasons there are three cleaned and frozen squirrels in my freezer. They will give back in an emergency (only!!!!).
They have eaten a good natural diet around here and they may have to feed us one day.

Went on a grocery run and stopped at the small local pharmacy. Only one prescription was in: new prescription for Mounjaro.

At least with my insurance I only paid $30 for a 4 week course. Has to be refrigerated, which means extra crap to deal with during travel. At least it is just a once a week thing.

I'll inject it into my gut later on. Then keep a mirror handy to watch it turn me into a werewolf. Symptoms do vary.
