No-one's going to believe this..I'm finding it hard to believe myself..this has never happened before..

It's now 2.23pm... I was number 9 in the hospital phone queue after waiting for an hour and a half....... when suddenly a text came in on my mobile at 2.19pm..saying this.....

Excuse my French but WTH? No “we need to reschedule” and offer you dates…? Just “it’s cancelled”. I hate the way you are getting jerked around from so many medical agencies.

Good morning all. 🌞 It's Friday, January 17th. Hope all are having a lovely day!

Completed yesterday's business chore and DH will deliver the order in a couple of hours. This morning I plan to invoice that and an order we delivered to another customer over a week ago. That customer closed down after the fire and only just reopened on Weds, plus I knew this other order would be going out within a few days anyway. (See how easily I justify my procrastination? 😎)

Cool weather here today - well, cool by So Cal standards. 61° for a high and air is being drawn in from the Pacific, so humidity is jumping from under 20% to roughly 60%. Winds are light. These are much more favorable conditions for fighting the fires - I'll gladly wear that heavier sweatshirt today.

With so many here are talking about doing laundry, you've inspired me to put a load in motion when DH comes out of the bedroom.

The Christmas decorations are still laughing at me. Let them enjoy themselves. They'll be back in hibernation soon enough.

My doctor can't renew my Rx for the rash; must see a Derma since my last round with it was over 5 years ago. Back then I had to travel to a very confusing medical center and I don't want to go out there now. Plus, that doc is no longer there. So, I will try to go to one closer. Ugh, I hate going to doctors.

We may get 2-4 inches of snow Sunday night.

Have fun today! :coffee:
They are not my favorite members of the species but a rash needs attention. Make plans on how to treat yourself afterwards.

yep I know CS, this is how we're all treated now. like we're a nusiance, an irritation...

I'm fortunate that I have no serious or critical ailments that need urgent atttention.. and I can cope with these cancellations at the last minute irritating as they are.. , but there are as well you can imagine millions of people who are desperate for their apointmentts, and can't wait.. and this is how they get treated, how we all get treated. Just to add fuel to the fire... this particular appointment they've cancelled is one I have already waited one year for... :(

I suffer from Giant cell arteritis of my face and jaw .. and it's imperative my meds and my condition are monitored regularly .. so I have to see the maxillofacial consultant .. but the appointment is often cancelled by them.

So..I just called the AA.. after they quoted double the premium from last year for my roadside recovery, despite the fact I haven't even used them.
I told them I found this to be too expensive for me, and would like to cancel my cover.. , and they then offered me the same silver cover that i've always had, and reduced the price back down to last years' cost......that's a whole £100 less than they were asking for ...

Just goes to show, how much they're taking us for a ride..doesn't it ?

Today tile. Tomorrow grout. How did I build a house with SO not being home and did not loose my mind?
My friend in Kansas should have his blanket today. Just in time for the arctic blast.
SO asked if I need to go to the grocery store. NO! It will be jam packed everywhere. People seem to turn into lemming when the weatherman announces cold, snow, ice.
Ribs are hurting. Whine!
An easy day. SO is in play mode and has a customer come by. The yarn they spin would make a nice sweater:>)
But - it is Friday!

I am confused now. What is it dental or abdomen?
It's all there in my posts ....lol

The appointment is not for dental altho' it's the oral clinic.. is for something entirely different to my upcoming abdominal surgery... and in a totally diferent hospital

I have an ongoing condition, that I've had for many years, ... which has to be monitored regularly because I take high dose steroid medication..

They sent me a text yesterday telling me my appt was for this coming Tuesday... but they failed to add the time in the text.

I had to call them today to find out what time the Appt was.. I was on hold for an hour and a half in total without them answering , when the text came in telling me the appt for Tuesday to see the consutlant has been cancelled !

love that..I must remember it...:D

@hollydolly
I am so outraged on your behalf. What confuses me are the Americans calling for your system when it no longer seems to work.

Good medical care is a RIGHT, IMO. Can't find it here, there, only the Canadians seem relatively happy. Something must be done, but people won't work together to proceed with change. YouTube is more interesting than our own lives.......

Color me disgusted. Now I must get back to putting myself in a good mood.

unfortunately, the NHs no longer works most of the time. When it does it's spectacular , but now those times are few and far between.

Once it was the envy of the world.. that's not that case and hasn't been for at least the last 10 years. In the last 3 years its become 3rd world..no exageration..much of this has been caused by the unchecked immingration... where people use the hospitals like a Gp surgery and get free treatment despite never having paid a penny in taxes ..

...and that brings us into another situation, where we now can barely get. a GP appoinment, the vast majority of people have to wait for 3 or 4 weeks to see their GP.. so again, because of that, people use the hospital emergency services instead. creating massive backlog queues, and packed out A&Es ever day ...then the nursing staff get exhausted and can't cope , and we lose them too to retirment or other jobs

At least if the US chose to adopt the system, you have many hospitals already in place .. we don't even have that.

This is half the reason for the huge waiting llists. there is one inptient hospital in my whole county for example ... that's to treat 1.2 million people ..,

for that reason we're often sent to a hospital in another county, but of course like ours they're trying to cope with their own population, much less some other county.....so by dint of having plenty hospitals and nursing staff, the US would have a head start

In todays' news this....

Doctors have told how patients are being managed in chairs “day and night” and physiotherapy gyms are being turned into wards as hospitals fill up.

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) said treating patients in corridors cannot be allowed to continue as it published accounts from doctors on the front line talking about the crisis in NHS hospitals.

Dr Mashkur Khan, RCP regional adviser for south London, said: “Our physiotherapy gym has now been taken over for extra bed spaces and the corridors are full to the brim.

“Patients are often managed in chairs all day and all night.”

Dr Jacob de Wolff, RCP regional manager for north west London, said: “It is not uncommon to arrive at 8am in the emergency department to be greeted by a corridor full of trolleys.

“Some of these patients will have spent the night there, in bright lights and with no easy access to a bathroom.

We are in a vicious unproductive circle. The current chaos means that we default to admission and the cycle of crisis continues

Dr Hilary Williams, RCP vice president for Wales

He said patients are also being sent to wards prior to a bed being available.

Dr Dean said the Government’s drive to get the overall waiting list for planned treatment down must contain realistic expectations “to ensure doctors do not face further burnout” in trying to restore the 18-week target.

In December, emergency department attendances in England reached 2.3 million.

The RCP said many of the 54,207 patients waiting longer than 12 hours following a decision to admit in December – the third highest recorded number of patients with waits of this kind – will have received care in temporary environments, such as corridors or chairs.

Commenting on the situation beyond England, RCP vice president for Wales, Dr Hilary Williams, said: “Patients waiting in corridors is unsafe and undignified.

“We are in a vicious unproductive circle. The current chaos means that we default to admission and the cycle of crisis continues. Every hour that an older person spends lying on a trolley or sitting in a chair prolongs their stay in hospital. Continuity of care is lost.”

Dr Sacha Moore, RCP resident doctor committee representative for Wales, said many medical patients are staying on a non-medical ward, “making continuity of care far more challenging, and ultimately slowing down our ability to get people home. We simply don’t have enough doctors.”

Professor Phil Banfield, chairman of the British Medical Association (BMA), said: “Doctors and patients are being left to face situations they simply should not have to: patients needing urgent care left in corridors for hours on end, often in unsanitary conditions.

“A seasonal flu outbreak is something we know will come and yet it’s helping bring our health system to its knees. This should not be happening.

“We are in a national emergency. This cannot be our national norm. Every year, we run into exactly the same problems.

If anything @hollydolly, I fear our system might become more inclusive than less; more available to some and not others. I want to be wrong.
well tht's precisely what's happened here...there's always a bed to be had if we pay Huge premiums for private medical insurance... but the system we've paid into from our salaries all our lives has now become unavailable to most...so you'd be right to be concerned

Order some Plantain ointment. It works for rashes, bites, stings, burns and cuts. A 1/2 oz. jar lasts a long time.

It is like this all over Europe. As private pay patient my father ended up on a gurney after surgery. When he finally got a room his room mate (yes!) died and that not peacefully in his sleep. Nobody responded to the call button.

What a staggering statistic. How anyone might imagine that would be sufficient is mind boggling.
exactly.. and successive governments have not made any progress... in fact this new govt..( trying not to take this too political due to the forum rules) in their short time in power have created a worse situation

It's almost if one was a conspiracy theorist, as tho' they're trying to deliberately kill off large swathes of the populace
