How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

Since I was such a lazy bones yesterday, I started early (after the morning prayer) straightening up in the living room and cleaning up the kitchen, which I fell asleep before I could do last night. I also caught up with and wrote some posts on that other social media site. :) Still didn't accomplish everything I had intended. Well, tomorrow is another day.
@OneEyedDiva My nan used to say, always leave something to do tomorrow otherwise, one day, you might wake up with nothing to do! I think the logic was that, we all need something to get up for. :)

Been to visit the Aldi Aisle of Shame with DD and got a solar light for the garden, then got the spark plug for the leaf blower. It's too hot to go out to the garage to replace it. I'll leave it for tomorrow morning or for DSIL to do. I put the solar light in front of a gazing ball so that when it lights up, it'll shine on the gazing ball.

Blued my hair.

Still have to vacuum up kitty litter that Maggiecat throws around from her litter box.

That's gonna be it for today.

Well.. I've spent days looking at cars for sale online.... nothing much else I could do tbh.... and I think I may have found one..

Not gonna say anything more, for now.. but I'm going to go and look at it next week... at the showroom, I've put a returnable deposit on it in the meantime..

I rang my Insurance company, to get a quote for this potential new car.. and even tho' it has a smaller engine than my previous car.. and even tho' I didn't lose my No Claims Discount due to the crash.. they have quoted me..over 3 times the price of my annual insurance for my last car...
I ccouldn't believe what I was hearing... so I've gone onto a comparison site, and probably the most well known Car Insurers, has given me a quote just £100 more than my last premiums...

Who would have benefited from that entrance fee?

I know a local antique show that's held in May and August. They charge dealers $100 to set up, then charge lookers an entrance fee ($10 to get in on Friday, then $5 for Saturday and Sunday). So you have to pay to look at stuff you probably wouldn't buy because the dealers have to mark it up to cover their costs.
I went and looked at the website, vendor fees are $190 a day and up, that's to be expected. Sat. and Sun. general admission goes up to $95! That's insane just to go in and walk around, and then any event you want to attend cost extra. This is a very large event held on 380 acres and from what I saw from the road it is absolutly packed so guess the price is worth it to most.

Auto insurance rates are incredibly frustrating! At the beginning of summer I had three cars on my plan, I sold one so dropped it off my insurance and my premium went up in price! How is that even legal? Yes I will be changing companies at renewal.

Good luck with the new car, hope the deal works out for you. Are you medically cleared to drive or were there no restrictions?

yes it's incredible how car insurance seems to work and certainly if you remove one vehicle it's astounding how they can increase the premium..beggars belief...

No there are no restrctions on future driving, but clearly I would be expected to use common sense.. if I don't feel safe to drive then of course I won't.. but I'd like to get the replacement asap.. because in the UK new cars are release twice a year.. and the month before the new releases.. in this case 1st of September.. the showrooms are anxious to get older cars off their forecourts... and reduce their prices...

The car I'm looking at is 3 years old but with only 20k on the clock

When my insurance company saw that I was going with someone else they gave me a much better deal. It helped that I had been with them for a long time.

yes they do that here as well, Babs... and there's every possibility if I go back to my insurance company and say I've had this much lower offer, they could reduce my premiums.. but the fact that I was with them until just 2 days ago , a fully paid up loyal customer, never ade a claim..., that they can try and rip me off for a policy over 3 times the cost of my last one..leaves a bitter taste...

My day was rather sad. I just received Marley's ashes, and now we have to decide the best place to bury this beautiful box. My baby was full of cancer, and she bore it all so well.

She gave me 10 years of joy and pure love. We will try to choose another with such a great disposition.
I walked our property today and, there is no way we can bury that beautiful urn. We have a high water level and that reclaimed wood would be ruined in no time. I spoke with our director about this and he quite agreed, so we will dedicate an area in the activity room with a spot light and place the urn there. This is the only dog we ever had this long, and with the sweetest disposition ever. I worked long hours with her in the beginning, and it paid off. ❤️

when I buried Scruffy a few years ago..I was loathe to put the whole big urn into the plot in my garden, Lois... but I did in the end.... and I got a plaque made for him and put it on the wall of the shed next to his plot...

In the meantime, I'd taken a tiny amount of his ashes, and put them into a mini urn, in a velvet dispay box.. and keep that in the house..

Up very early, left the house before 8am on my motorcycle. It was a 300 mile loop, which was my longest day riding so far. Got to drive btwn Challis and Arco which I had never been before, ID Peaks to Craters highway. It was very pretty and the pavement was sublime. Thought about @Pepper as I passed Craters of the Moon.

Saw 3 elk, 6 deer, several herds of antelope, 2 pair SH cranes, heard one pair calling as I waited 45 mins for road construction, and 3 Northern Harriers. And as usual no grouse.

No pics today, but there is always tomorrow..

Well, the workmen finally showed up and got the job done. The front yard looks like a herd of elephants rampaged through it, where they dug a trench (by hand, no less) from the street, around the tree and to the house. I really felt sorry for them working so hard out in the sweltering heat and I brought ice water out frequently.

I really feel sorry for people who have to work outside in this weather.

I did some financial stuff for my son and myself this morning. I finally put my socks and turbans away from when I did laundry a week ago. Then I sorted laundry and refilled my supply bottles to get ready for next time. I won't be doing laundry for at least a couple of days, though, due to the heat.

I don't have that fond a memory of Cars. maybe a Goat, I can draw it.

I think the Ins. Co's look at averages, average claim settlements and adjust their prices accordingly.
So the world has become a bitter batch of lies and settlements. I look at my ins bill at + 50 years ago and $35 a month.
Now its $2000 a year. No accidents in over 1/2 a century. I worry most about the person driving without a license, insurance
or a self-conscious, & has that phone on the dash mount. .

Guy in glasses is looking at your recent divorce and seeing
single lady to take advantage of.. I would definitely talk with
other insurance companies and select a better deal. Of Course
The insurance settlement is a timely inconvenience too. Months pass.
One is 2 - 3 years older! I remember a drunk ran into my car
in a street parking meter area. Month passed, I had rebuilt the
327 60 Chevy SS Convertible small block and was limping along with the rear smashed.
The Ins. adjuster stopped by and asked what's it worth. $3700, he wrote me a check.
The way they drive here in the ST. Louis area, well its nuts. ... :ROFLMAO: ... Lol
