Welll far from the rain starting on Weednesday..it's raining today.. which is annoying because I have to drive to the next county as soon as I've had this cuppa tea. There's also uite dense fog...
It's 9.20am... my back is still hurting from yesterday, and the last thing I feel like doing is going to where i'm going.. because all the roads leading into the town have roadworks on them, so it's a massive hold up... but I have little choice.. I go today or I go tomorrow, either way I've got to to go...


Anyway I'll have made up my mind by the time I've had this tea....(y)

Ooh, be careful. I remember the days when that wouldn't have bothered me a bit. Now, I dread getting out in weather and traffic so I don't envy you.
I know you have to do it though so again just dress warm and be careful.

Woke up to 13 degrees F with wind chill in single digit. Thank you Mom and Dad for this family home, which is warm. I'm always grateful in the mornings, start getting worn out from that as day unfolds.

Must pay/mail some bills; have a Telehealth appt. at 11am which I am looking forward to. My life is filled with doctors & procedures, which I'm not looking forward to but Must be done.
 
Dear me. I didn't get up until 7:45. It was daylight! When I looked out the kitchen window, what to my wondering eyes did appear? Three does meandering through the garden. They didn't seem to mind the cold. It's only 20.🥶

Excuse me while I think of something to do today.

There are 58 days until spring.
 
I woke up with a bit of a headache but, that's what you get for joining the baby boomers in the pub - worst than teenagers, although probably funnier - I might go again next week :ROFLMAO:

A little bit of rain and mist this morning but it cleared quickly and now it's just a greyish January afternoon.

Tomorrow I am meeting up with friends for lunch and gossip. Actually, just between us here, one of my friends has met someone online but, I am sworn to secrecy 🤐 Don't you hate it when someone does that? Tell you something you didn't ask and THEN tell you to keep it a secret! If she had asked in the first place "Can I tell you a secret?" I would have said "NO!"

You see, I have learnt that, if someone tells you a secret, the chances are they have told everyone the secret and tomorrow, we will all secretly know the secret and when, after a glass or two of wine, our friend announces "I have a secret to tell you", we all have to act gob smacked and pretend we didn't already know :eek: :rolleyes:

Bless you, thank you.. The traffic was even worse than I thought it was going to be. Once upon a time in not such a distance past, you could almost guarantee if I went out on a Tuesday after the school rush, the roads would be clear..not so now.. not since half the country supposedly work from home...

What's worse is the reason I went to that town in the next county was to pick up something I'd ordered online.. and the flicking thing wasn't even there.. they'd lost it somewhere they didn't know where... ..so I had to call their customer services, and get the order cancelled because I can't go now for another few weeks.. so frustrating..

Anyway.. talking of lots of people around..I got the urge for a burger when I was out.. I rarely ever eat them maybe once every couple of years when i get the urge... and look at this.. at 12 noon.. on a Tuesday...absolutely packed out...

More... I did get those gel nails taken off while I was out which saved me another journey tomorrow.... and when I got home there was a letter from the hospital , if you remember they cancelled my appt for today.. by text... I'd already waited a year for the appointment...

This is the letter they sent me ..all identifying names removed..

you'll notice that the new appt is not for another 6 months... but you may also notice that the appt they cancelled was for today Tuesday the 21st ... but they couldn't even get that right ... instead they write Monday the 21st of january......what hope is there for the NHS..?:unsure:

No this was the appt for my maxillofacial consultant. They say Oral clinic..but it's not oral for me its for my Jaw, and side of my face because for many years I've suffered with Giant Cell Arteritis... and I'm on high steroid medication for it, so they have to keep an eye on it on a regular basis.

My appt was for today.. and on friday they sent me a very curt Text cancelling the appt,,... which I;d already waited a year for... now they've sent me a letter in the post giving me a new appointment for June.. 6 months from now..so that will be a year and a half since my last appt...

Finally had to turn on the central heat. Temps are down into the mid 60s in daytime. Clear and cold low 33 and today lows in mid 60s; windy as all get out last night, guess it blew that cold front right into Texas! They have closed Bush IAP in Houston for a bit. Unlikely the City of Houston even owns snow removal equipment.

Ordered a boat load of things to help stage the house for photos the end of March or April. Things we have held off buying to decorate well and wanted to order the last four years anyway. DH taking $ from his arsenal of "my precious" collection(s) to treat us and upgrade to new carpets (10x13 (for dining room) and two runners to match for along each of the kitchen counters; 12x14 for our master bedroom; 8x10 for our sitting room). Ordered two bedside tables and two bedside lamps. We have had two mismatched tables and mismatched lamps for 10 years, so it is time. Also ordered two rolling clothes racks to put into storage to clear out extra clothes - such as his closet of Marine Corp uniforms. He retired in 1994..am trying to talk him into just keeping his dress blues jacket and having it mounted/shadow boxed to add to his fathers WWII shadow box and US Flag shadow box.
