@HoneyNut, that was a heck of a nightmare. You were smart to call the security folks. The neighbour with the broken pipe might be at the point that she needs to move from your building.

Your insurance company should put you in a hotel for three days and then collect from the other company.

Soil spread, rolled, most of the seed scattered. I ran out of seed:( but since we have to return the roller, I'll get enough to finish. Dang! that was hard work and why I refuse to do it again next year.

I'm ready for biscuits and sausage gravy.

@hollydolly Bummer on the lacy sleep but glad you've got your chair.

It's already 68 here. Yay!

ETA: Just looked at my bank account, and my federal tax return will be deposited on Thursday Friday. Woohoo and stuff🎉🎊

Too warm for the season out of the clear blue. Last night happy hour on the patio sofa and all windows wide open.

9:00 doc appointment, blood, consult, referral to hospital radiology, hospital - 1.5 hours.

SO is in his lair. Izzi is supervising his actions closely. House run arounds then some yard time.

It will be a good day!

Well, it's the beginning of another busy week, and I'm having a late start today. ☕☕☕☕☕

I'm expecting today to be warm and sunny, like yesterday....another day for wearing shorts!

Unfortunately, the bad weather will be returning some time next....snow and freezing temps. If it happens, there is a good chance that I will not be able to leave the property again. I need to be prepared, just in case.

Today we are going to the farm supply store to get more seed for The Girls. Tomorrow, Dio 🐐 has an eye appointment that usually takes 2 hours or more. After that we are going to run a million errands, including stocking up on PLENTY of food!!!

Wednesday I'm hoping to take my Mom to renew her driver's license (she's going to be 93!!!!!), and get her stocked up for the bad weather, too.

If the weather is still OK on Thursday, I'm going to Wal-Mart for more stock items. That takes care of just about the whole week!!!

Well we all seem to have had a weird day today...there must have been a tumbling moon...

I was dressed in my raggy clothes in the middle of putting the chair legs on, battling with tearing up the HUGE cardboard box it came in .... eating my lunch.. and waiting for an important call , when there was a knock at the door. Usually when someone knocks the glass panes rather than ring the bell it's the delivery people..so I didn't look to see who it was before opening the door..

Standing on the doorstep was an elderly man.. white haired... and he asks me am I the wife of XX.. ( my first husband ).. and I say cautiously , yes, but over 40 years ago... and he says , do you know where I can find him . he goes on... I don't know if you remember me but I was his friend LL

and I've come from Singapore to see him

I immediately remembered his name ..even tho' it had been almost 50 years since I'd seen him and tho' he couldn't remember my name...

Anyway he wanted to find my ex husband who is DD's dad... so we had a little chat while I rung the ex, because he is poorly with COPD and recovering from prostate cancer , he usually won't allow anyone into his flat these days.. told him there was a visitor for him, and gave him the phone to chat, and immediately EX invited the friend around to his place...

I tell you, I've got to stop dressing like a Scarecrow, it seems to attract people to my door... this is the second time this week...

You did a good deed!
Just introduce yourself as the hired help. Add a bit of Spanish or whatever comes handy.

Last night as I was getting ready to go to sleep (sitting up in bed playing a game on my kindle, a little after 1:30 AM) I heard a sudden loud rush of water. I could not tell exactly where it was but I didn't see any water (in the beginning). I called the community gate house (they coordinate after-hours emergencies), but then I told them maybe someone was taking a really hard shower above me and that I'd call back in ten minutes if the loud roar of water continued.

Well, five minutes later I saw water starting to seep in under the baseboards so I called back and they sent one of the community security guys to check. He showed up in a few minutes but by then already the water was drenching the carpet in the bedroom closet and into the bedroom. Also the outside hallway carpet was becoming drenched between my apartment and the neighbor to the south, so they knocked on her door (probably a bit after 2 AM by then). They found that the hose pipe to her toilet tank had broken (clean water), so the security guy turned off the little water shut off knob and that stopped the flood.

It seems she had been woken up by the problem but was at a loss of what to do and had called the person in the apartment across from hers for help (that person was also befuddled by the problem, judging by the sotto voce grumbling of the security guy about people that are not all there, ha ha).

The security guy called the on-call building engineer and by the time he showed up (around 2:30 AM) his attention was first distracted by smoke coming from the apartment of the person across the hall, who it turned out had left something cooking when she went to help (smelled like VERY burning toast, and the smoke had already set off the smoke alarm in the hallway - in imminent risk of setting off the entire building fire evacuation alarm).

I had a new carpet shampoo-er still in its unopened box since Black Friday Amazon shopping in November, so at 2:30 in the morning I was trying to quick read the assembly instructions, what fun (not!). I got it together and sucked at the wet carpet till 3:30 AM. Around 3 AM the building engineer had come to my apartment and told me that a water recovery/restoration company had been called and that I should expect them to show up soon.

Since my carpet cleaner (only using the suction action) was making very little headway in spite of me having to dump its dirty water tank many times, I finally gave up.

Around 4:20 AM the building engineer came back to tell me that the recovery people would not show up until 7 AM. So, after another hour-plus of wind-down time, cereal and more games on my kindle, I went to sleep for a couple hours. They didn't show up until 9 AM (which was a relief for me because I'd turned off the alarm at 7 and fallen back asleep until 8:30).

The recovery people ran some sort of scanner, took a bunch of pictures, moved my bed and bedroom desk (I'd already carried everything out of the closet last night), did water extraction, then set up a mystery machine that has plastic water tubing taped on/into my bathroom sink (I'm guessing it is a giant dehumidifier), and set up several special floor fans that are LOUD (and they unplugged a bunch of my stuff so these could all be plugged in).

Then they told me they would come back in three days (!!!!) to check whether these actions were sufficient or if they need to remove baseboards and carpet.

I'll have been driven mad by the loud fans by then I think (tho the guy did show me how to turn them off if I felt I needed quiet to sleep). And I suppose they won't want me spitting toothpaste all over their plastic tubing that is taped into the bathroom sink, so I guess I'll be using the kitchen sink for the next several days. At least I still have toilet and shower functioning. And the maintenance person last night told me there would be no bill for me because the neighbor would be responsible for it. I feel sorry for her, but hopefully she has homeowner insurance (we are all required by the condo rules to have it anyway).

So that's how my day has been.
Oh my gosh. I hope all is back to normal asap!

Today is my first appointment for treatment for throat cancer after the endoscopy. I don't know if it's gonna be Chemo or radiation, but I have several different oncology appointments every day this week. Even a barium swallows. I just know a have a meeting with a team of doctors. If anyone has been this, please let me know what to expect.
I don't know anything about that however, I hope you are given an above standard protocol and all goes well. 🙏

There hasn't been a need of my services at work in a while, but a text on Friday asked if I could help, then a second message came through, "do you still have your truck licence?"
When I was at college all those years ago, I managed to pass the truck driving test. Having that licence allowed me to work at weekends on a staff agency and so subsidise my penniless student days.
Working in the distribution industry, that licence has come in handy more than once.

Today, when I arrived at nine o'clock, one of the directors said, "come on, hop in," opening his car door for me. "Where are we off to?" I asked. "Big boys toys," is all he said. Asking if I still had that truck licence along with, big boys toys, I was intrigued. Big boys toys it was indeed. We were collecting a seriously big truck, the dashboard of which, could have come straight off The Starship Enterprise.

The director instructed me to follow him. He took me to a company that construct truck trailers, there was one there in our company livery. I coupled up the new truck to the trailer took it back to the firm's premises, where all and sundry came out to see it. Give it a week, the road dirt and dust will soon dispel the novelty. But it was fun sitting up in that cab playing truck drivers. And the horn, I could scare the crap of any motorist with that horn. It's been a fun day.

We did the grocery shopping in the morning.
Amazing how fast food, etc add up.

My wallet cried all the way home.

After lunch,, Hubby wanted to try to find a parts place our good friend told him about.
Was a nice drive on roads we had never been on before.
Lots of hills .
Farms & homes far apart.

Never did find the place we were looking for.

Stopped at Rural King to see if anything new on their shelves.
Looked like they are shifting to Spring items.Got some dog treats.
Dry soup mixes to try.
Probably they will get added to whatever I make that isn't as favorable as I think it should be.

Oh you poor thing. What an awful thing to have gotten through!

Know how you feel. DH will have a customer dropping by and tells me about 5 minutes before the person is to show up...and I look exactly like a Scarecrow, too! :ROFLMAO: Had layers cut into my hair last month and that only makes it worse, as static electricity and my hair - well it looks like I stuck my finger into a light socket some moments. :ROFLMAO: Never going to have layers in it again, either. Mistake.

Have some experience with TC. What to expect depends largely on the stage, philosophy of the docs in treating you. How did the appointment go? How are you holding up?

Early this morning, I swept and wet Swiffer-ed the bathroom floor. I meant to do the kitchen when I could lock Deja in the bathroom (she gets into everything) but I napped both before and after lunch. Deja's in the bathroom but now I don't feel like doing the kitchen. I will take advantage of her being in the BR though, because I have some things I need to do on the computer. Today is "medical Monday", so I'll schedule a couple of doctor's appointments and order meds, which are easier to do online. I also did some financial stuff and wrote a check for our HOA dues. I'll load and run the dishwasher by 7 p.m., my target time for getting that done.

Managed to go back to bed at 6am and get three more hours of sleep, thanking God.
Worked on stock trading today for hour or so; market miserable, but still not in the hole. Never pays to be pessimistic and reactionary doing this. Enjoy doing my own strategy and saving some $ by not having a financial "advisor" and mutual fund fees sucking me dry.

Managed to get outside..didn't nap in the sun as planned. Was 85 today and just beautiful. Filled all the birdie feeders - they have been flying PIGS; changed their water dishes as usual - at least daily. Am online searching for baby quail as soon as the night time temps get up and stay up.

With no Mommy and Daddy quail, they won't have snuggle warmth at night. DH said he was, "Surprised I hadn't thought of sleeping outside WITH the new baby quails...". Am shocked I didn't think of that, too! Am now actually thinking about it... :ROFLMAO: . At least that makes me happy thoughts.

The last parts of finishing up the backyard (and front) for staging involves pick axe and shovel, burying downspout. But before I can begin that tomorrow, today I had to move six HUGE heavy pieces of sandstone, all the left over cobblestone from the patio being reduced in size and refinished, plus all the "stuff" I have to store outside under tarps.

I have to store outside because when we moved from our last house, we went from a three car garage to a two car (small-side two car) garage. No space for all my landscaping gear, power washer, etc...except on the side of the house where I have to dig a trench about 40 feet long and 10" deep; then cover the downspout pipe and the sprinkler water line I also need to bury. Then I have to move enough gravel to cover the whole 30'-40' x 5' 3-4 inches deep on that side of the house. Been putting it off, as I've done so much this last year, am nearly sick of it all. But will feel good when done, if I hold up that long.

I just take lots of breaks and get on here.

It will all get better. The customer did not come for a date.

Who is Dio?🤠

We are likely in the same weather pattern. Today my area hit 74(F), by next week we will be back on the 40’s.

I paid my RE taxes today. I’m on the green belt but I found out, as a widow, I may still qualify for an additional small tax reduction. Boyyyyyy you should see the list of papers I have to provide — it takes up an entire 8 x 10 sheet of paper🤯

Congratulations to your mom!❤️❤️. My license is also due, but this time I can’t renew on line; our licenses are good for eight years so they probably want a new foto. I went to the DL center this morning and the line was out the door, so I left. I need to get there earlier than 11:30.

Sonic was lunch and supper.
