How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

The best thing about my day today was being invited to listen in on a Wells Fargo roundtable where their executives discussed what they foresee in the markets. It was a fairly balanced conversation, although I could sense a feeling of desperation over the tariffs. It did reinforce my decision to move into more fixed-income investments. I felt like a valued customer. I posted my outline in the Stock Market thread.

This morning I had a phone call from work: "Could I help?" I reminded them that I had a dental appointment at 12:00 midday, had made sure that it was known, especially when the shifts changed. The caller was unaware. He said he would call me back.

My dental treatment was all done by half twelve. Walking back to my car, my phone rings, it's work again. This time I was available to help. At half past four, having just finished, my lady phoned me asking me to meet her in Fabricland, a fabric shop about three miles away. Once there she showed me various buttons for the new trousers that she's making for me. I made my choice, the lady concurred and I took her for coffee.

This evening my new trousers were chalk marked where the buttons and button holes will go, she does that whilst I am wearing them, it's known as a fitting. It's why her work always looks so professional. I left her with the buttons whilst I cooked our meal. It's still Lent, we have given up meat for Lent. Tonight I cooked Mushroom Stroganoff, I use the BBC Recipe.

That looks good!

This morning I did accounting for my son and me then transferred money into his account for his 1st quarter cashbacks (almost $100...he was happy). 🤑 I upgraded my Ancestry membership (for six months at least) and spent time checking out their revamped DNA profile revelations and what family connections they found for me. I messaged two cousins I do not know with the hope they are connected to my maternal grandfather, who I never met or even saw a picture of. Their surnames are the same as his.

My goodness what a glorious warm sunny day it is already.🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

It's 10.30am, I got back from dropping the car at the garage around 10am... I didn't take a jacket, just wore a long sleeve blouse, and I had to walk a mile to get the bus back, and wait 15 minutes for the bus to arrive.. and I was really warm I felt sorry for the people walking past with jackets and coats on...

I have to go and pick it up in about 3 hours... which means another bus back....

I wanted to take photos on the way back.. but I forgot my phone.. only realised when I saw a Bentley sitting in someone's drive, and I went to take a photo for @CinnamonSugar ...then realised I'd come out without my phone...

Typical that when I got home I'd got 3 missed calls... :D

Ah well, @hollydolly, there will be another opportunity, I’m sure 😊

Off to work today…. Don’t know what area I’ll be in…. Never a dull moment in nursing

I'm going to make this quick, in case we need to shut the power off. The storm is just about on us....Dio ran out to feed The Girls, while I ran out to feed Goober. It's black as night out there, but all critters have been cared for. The first drops were starting as I came in, along with the accompanying lighting. 🌩

On Wednesday, we got 2.7 inches of rain. Yesterday, it rained on and off all day, but we only had 1/2 inch in the gage. Today, they are predicting 4-6 inches of rain. I'm starting to feel like a duck!

I hope all is well with everyone here!

Car is done, it's relly warm out there.. it's 69 deg but it feels much warmer...

It's almost 5pm.. I picked up my car, had to wait 40 minutes for a bus.. I'd looked up the timetable online and went out for the 5 past the hour, but they must have taken it off because a bus didn't come until 45 minutes later when they should be every 30 minutes during the week...

Traffic was very heavy..children broke up for half term today so they were all on the bus screaming very loudly with excitement .. my eardrums were on the point of bursting ...

when I left the garage it was almost 3pm so I decided to go to the pub for a carvery so I don't have to cook tonight... because I'm sooo tired... different pub to the one a few days ago...

Beef, Gammon, Roast Potatoes, corn under the Giant Yorkshire pudding , carrots, Pork crackling and apple sauce

@hollydolly OMG! That's a lotta food. I'd be eating for days.

We went to both garden centers. After I got primer, paint and brushes, we adjourned to the flowers. I bought flowers. Then we went to the other garden center. I bought flowers.

The potting bench has been primed, and some of the plants have been potted.

In a little while, I'm gonna go out and paint the potting bench. It only takes 30 minutes for the primer to dry, and it's already been a couple of hours, but I got hot and tired.

Yes it looks a lot but it's because of the giant YP.... there's only thinly sliced meat, and 3 roast potatoes other than the corn & Carrots.

When it's a carvery everyone tends to overload their plates.. and in this instance I only ate the meat and veg, one spud & 1/2 the YP ... It's only now I'm thinking I should have asked for a Doggie bag

I stayed up reading last night until 5 AM this morning, then slept to 12:30+, so skipped the Friday hike (which I'd planned to skip anyway because I'm really worried about pain I had in the arch of my foot last week, so I've been trying to go easy on walking because I'm terrified this is going to ruin my Italy trip if I don't get it resolved quickly, but I just don't know whether resting the foot and doing half-length walks every few days is right or not).

After breakfast this afternoon, the doorbell rang and it turned out I had an appointment with the Heating&Cooling person (free twice yearly service call, included with our condo fees). I had not showered, or brushed my teeth, or cleaned/picked up the apartment. So mortifying.

I've stared in horror at the situation with my investments. The entire 24%ish gain of last year has been wiped out, mostly in the past two days. I consoled myself by selling a couple shares of a 3x-reverse-Nasdaq fund, which I bought less than a month ago but had gone up 40%. That netted me a whole $28 of profit, LOL. It's true what they say, that investors will brag about their successes and not tell people about their failures! ha ha

DSIL probably won't look at his 401k. It's too depressing.

Done and done with the potting bench. It's sooo cute. All I have to do now is wait until morning when it's 100% dry before putting stuff on the shelves. It will help a lot with the clutter in that corner where we keep the hose and other :poop:. I didn't even get any paint on myself.

Tomorrow I get to figure out where to put which pots so that I can see them from my patio. Also get to finish planting the things that followed me home from the garden centers today. Right now the azaleas are so big that they pretty much obscure stuff that's at the back of the garden. The azaleas don't get cut back until they're done blooming so that's still about a month away.

I'm so glad it's spring. Looking at a dead garden all winter isn't fun. Neither is sitting in the house because it's either raining or too cold to go outside. Now if we could just have temps in the 70s for a few more weeks. Alas, not to be.

It was 86 today and tied a record; supposed to be warmer tomorrow, then a cold front with rain blowing through leaving us with temps in the 60s, and either Tuesday or Wednesday night down to 35! Have I mentioned YoYo season. LOL

Went for a motorcycle ride over to the nearest town and used the self service bay at the car wash and got 90% of the mud off the bike. Will have to do that again to get the remainder of the mud off. It was nippy to say the least, probably in the high 30's °F. On the way back to the barn I spotted this deer herd crossing a plowed field - 18 mule deer, all does, probably. I wonder how many are preggers???

Also spotted a pair of sandhill cranes flying low, and many cranes calling their unique and beautiful call.
Single crane calling. The sound when multiple cranes are calling is deeply meaningful for me.

American Kestrel, Northern Harrier, and a Red-tail Hawk all common raptors were spotted out hunting. Oh and the rock chucks were out in force.

They eventually got used to my presence and then made their way to the east and crossed this wheel line, which is used for irrigation.

Then drove another bike out to Craters of the Moon National Monument. It was chilly there too. Had to warm up in the Visitor Center parking lot, fingers were frozen.

Wifey took me to dinner for salad and chile rellenos. A pretty sweet day mostly free of media and the sickening news.
