How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

Hi folks... it's sunny and overcast and verrry windy here today... but apparently the rest of the country had storms, and 103mph winds in places... so we were very lucky not to get those....

I have one hour this afternoon where I get free electricity from my supplier.. so I use that hour for high consumption goods, like the washer and dryer... and I'll also use it to charge everything in the house at the same time..like the Shark Vac.. and the motion sensor lights...

I'm going to try and cook something just minced beef, and veggies.. so I can batch freeze as I usully do.. but of course I haven't really cooked anything in thhe last almost a month since the accident.
This is where so much of my past batch cooked food in the freeze came so handy...

If I feel once I start to cook during that free hour, that I can't safely do it, I'll just abandon it... but I'm going to try..

have a super and safe day folks... 🌸🌼

Morning all, on my usual early morning walk at 6:45, sky once again was hazy due to the Canadian fires, temp was 65 as I strolled around the building twice before breakfast
This morning at 10am I'll be leading the walking club, have no idea who will be waiting in the lobby, just like last week won;t be going far At 11 going to monthly resident council meeting, heads of various committees will be giving their updated reports
The rest of my day read today's NYT,start another book, this one I got from our library
After dinner, tackle today's NYT crossword puzzle, then watch on ESPN, Little League games, from various parts of the country. I've always enjoyed watching these talented young kids play

Ask your plumber if they can get rid of these turds. 😂

Well I got everything done that I wanted to do during the free electricity period this afternoon.

I got the washing and drying done.. ..I got the Shark and the hand held cordless vacs' all charged up, as well as all the small USB fans....and most of all I actually managed to cook the big pot of minced beef, broccoli, peas, mushrooms, potatoes , sausages in a beef gravy.... ready for batch freezing.

I started the prep about 30 minutes before the free elec period.. so all the veggies were ready to go into the pot as soon as the clock turned 2pm... My thought was that I wasn't going to be able to peel the potatoes... but fortunately the potatoes were clean new potatoes with thin skins so I just washed them in the colander, and then chopped them up.. all took a little longer than it would normally, but then that's why I started the prep early...

What I hadn't given a thought to..was all the washing up it creates.... so I had to wrap my hand and arm up in polythene, cuz I can't get a rubber glove on... and then wash everything with my left hand with a long handled scrubbing brush rather than the sponge.. and so it all came to pass...

Everything is charged, and everything is cooked... and I'm pleased that I managed it..

Been a bit under the weather this past weekend.
Slept a lot,,??

Catching up on everyone.

Glad to see Holly is cooking & her hand is healing.

Our area of PA is under a burning band,,, haven't had rain for some time.

Hubby & I were out by his wood pile Sunday evening,,, when I looked towards our field between the neighbors & us.
There ran a Black bear!
Not sure if it was heading towards where Mac & I had just walked!

Hubby barked like a dog,,not sure if the bear ran towards the busy lower highway.

I'll be checking the walking trail before we use it.

an update from my morning post
2 residents,Rubina&Andy showed up for the walk at 10am, it wasn't hot there was breeze. I decided to show them the rental apt complex where I lived from '77-'88. Then we walked halfway around the block, showed them my childhood home. It still looks the same from the outside, then we came back, a 25 min walk, they enjoyed it,thanked me
I have a cousin Rubina who I haven't seen since I was a child, ... I haven't heard anyone else called that for decades....

Yesterday, my daughter and I got all the car stuff taken care of. So now I own a vehicle again. It took forever -- mostly due to the heavy traffic. At one point we were 6 minutes (1.5 miles) from DQ, but traffic backed up and we sat there for 10 minutes before we could get going again.

Today, we went to Waffle House for breakfast. I ate everything I ordered, mostly because I didn't order my usual -- a meal + 2 extra hash browns and a pecan waffle.

DD did something nice for the hotel clerk (the owner's son, age 22). She had her guitar with her and the two of them started talking about music. He plays the guitar but couldn't afford to buy one just yet. So she gave him hers (she has two others). He was flabbergasted and so happy!

Then we went to my place, and my stepdaughter's husband put the new plate on my car. My daughter went to the airport to fly home. I am hoping to see her at Christmas (in France). My son and I are going to Germany to see if we can find my uncle, and France isn't very far away. The Christmas season in Germany is fun and all my favorite foods are featured.

I did a lot of napping today, my usual thing lately. My son went to Costco after work, so I put away those items this afternoon. I already had places to put them, so it was an easy task. In the midst of my evening nap, my HS#3 called and told me to get ready to go for a ride. I thought we were going to the supermarket but he surprised me by taking a ride up to the mountain. That's his happy place. We went to the look out point where we people watched and checked out the views of the city and highway. A pretty view as it started getting darker and the city and car lights were visible.

We stayed and talked until dark. There was such a nice breeze and it felt good to be out in nature amongst the grass, trees and sky. Before it got dark, I did notice the haze from the Canada fires while at the look out spot. I didn't notice it from our apartment. I hadn't eaten dinner before we left, mostly because I couldn't figure out what I wanted. All I had when I got home were Nathans crispy onion rings with ketchup and homemade iced tea. I took my evening meds with the meal.

We're out to our lake home this week. Changing AC
Filters and Oil in UTV. Grass grew so mowing and trimming too.

The Lil guys have a fishing tournament. Kids start back to
school next week. Yea! Lol. Neighbors have tons of limbs
cut down off of trees in front and laying there. Is a Mess.

Power Washing Decks and Cedar staining are my Honey Do List
stuff heading toward fall and
leaves a covering stuff again.

Ugg more work. Lol

The storm seems to have passed over and things are returning to normal. We lost power, phone and internet for a while so couldn't do much.
Quite a few trees blown down, but we seen to escaped with only minor damage in the garden. Weather looks better today, but having sprained an ankle, walking is a tad painful, so I won't be going far.

Time for the first coffee of the day.

I've been sat watching two robins facing up to each other in a very hostile manner.

"I'll give you 5 minutes to get out of town", one seems to be saying to the other.

"Oh yeh, well this town ain't big enough for both of us, so it's you who needs to get out of town."

I opened the window and chucked some ground-nuts onto the path and they've put their guns away and are happily feeding their faces now. 😊

did you get the 100 mph winds they were reporting for your area?

Sunny here this morning... high of 70 ... wish I could go out... , slept very badly, mainly due to the horrendous pain of the tendonitis in the injured arm... I don't know what to do about it. I take muscle relaxants before I got to bed and it's not preventing it...

Have a good Wednesday peeps... 🧡

How generous and thoughtful of her! A blessing for him.
