How is your day Today? Chat about your plans and achievements 2025....

I'll be going to the gym later, and then to the little grocery store. My Mom will meet up with me there.

My Mom broke the case on her cell phone.
(It's the cheap manufacturings fault, of course....not the fact that she is rough on anything she touches!!! 🙄)

The phone store is just across the street from the grocery store, so I will go there with her, while Dio goes to run his errands and home.

I don't plan on staying in town with my Mom, since I have some stuff I want to get done at home. So when we are done taking care of Mom's phone needs, I'll get a ride home with her.

A HUGE tragedy for us. Yesterday our son collapsed and died. We assume it was a heart attack. He was 50 years old.
We've got all sorts of things to do, so you'll understand that I wont be posting for a while, probably not till the New year
I know that your love and condolences will be with us at what should be a happy time of year.
Love, Capt Lightning.
Oh my goodness, @Capt Lightning. Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your son. I will be holding you and your family close in prayer. I'm so sorry.

To All Parents (Edgar Guest)

“I’ll lend you for a while a child of mine,” He said.
“For you to love the while he lives and mourn for when he’s dead.
It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three,
But will you, ’til I call him back, take care of him for me?
He’ll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief,
You’ll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay; since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I’ve looked the wide world over in My search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life’s lanes I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love, not think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call to take him back again?

I fancied that I heard them say, “Dear Lord, Thy will be done!
For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we’ll run.
We’ll shelter him with tenderness, we’ll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we’ve known, forever grateful stay;
But should the angels call for him much sooner than we’ve planned,
We’ll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand."

good morning all graylings!! Been up a long time...and in that
time managed to throw out my low back for 3rd day in a row!!!!
How do i manage this?? I am a wreck i guess....hands lack the ability
to hold on to things, walking has become a worse issue lately,
breathing is causing probs this week, I'm just A mess....ah well, maybe
things will improve....on another pain pill and heat pad...(this is 3rd
pain pill this weel!)......can hope and pray!!!! y'all take care now..

I have been out all day..I just got home at exactly the time it got dark 4pm...

The madness of the drivers out there..I can't believe it.. and I have no idea why there should have been so much traffic everywhere at 3.30pm on a Thursday, I'm entirely convinced hardly anyone goes to work these day... and people were driving like idiots, no-one was giving way in places they should have been giving way..cars were pulling out of side roads, in fron t of fast moving traffic.. absolute lunacy!

I was 2 towns away.. first at the mall, and then at the hair salon.

I got 6 inches.. cut offf my hair, to make it look more healthy now that it's thinning a lot..

In the mall it seems they didn't know it was Christmas.. from looking around.... no Big tree, no decorations, no nativity.... not even Santa's grotto like they do every year... absolutely a shame.. Thank goodness it's not the Mall I use ... on a regular basis

Still thinking about @Capt Lightning and the great loss of his precious son, who at 50 is just a year older than my daughter. Heartbreaking for him and his family..I suspect he was their first born.

This has been a horrendous year for me also , my daughter.. and everyone I know., even the hairdresser today was telling me her best friends' son was killed yesterday when his car broke down on a slip road, and a police car crashed into him... he was only 24....That's another family whose hearts are broken forever..

Horrendous year for so many people..I can't wait for it to be over !

Anyone for cake?... this from the cake stall in the mall...

The average price of cake here is ÂŁ40... approx $53 USD...

these cake slices are ÂŁ4.50 each....

I didn't buy any cake.. I wouldn't ...not from a stall.. in fact I see those cakes all the time month after month, year after year..., and I rarely ever see anyone buy them.. so they could be rancid for all I know...:ROFLMAO:

@hollydolly we went to town and a car almost ran into us switching from an outside lane with no turn signal. Anther truck decided to turn in front of us as we were approaching close and had a long trailer behind him blocking our lane. It is getting dangerous driving in our town. I don't think people want to wait a few more minutes before doing the close turns in front of cars.

Your hair looks lovely.

The cakes look like the ones in our bakery store and way too expensive.

Thank you Rae... about my hair...

Yes , here it's become a dangerous sport now just to drive anywhere... ..it's like people have forgotten the rules of the roads.. horrible, it's not a pleasure in any way to drive now like it used to be...You have to have your eyes peeled all around all the time , so it makes it exhausting to drive anywhere now...

I meant to add , that I was told not to stretch the leg that I had the surgery on 2 days ago... so that meant no swimming , no pilates, no dancing and so on..... but because I was driving.. and like most people in the UK I drive a manual..it's all pedal work, and so when I got home my leg was so painful I had to take painkillers..

I had to stop at the community center today, while I was out, to clarify a senior activity. At the last senior meeting, nothing was mentioned about a Christmas party, nor is it on their web site's calendar grid. However, it is posted on their "Special Events" schedule. The director said there wasn't any party scheduled for seniors. I mentioned that it was in the special events section. He replied that it was posted before they knew the center was scheduled to close between Dec 15 and Jan 5.

At least I won't have to wear one of my ugly sweaters.

Its been a partly sunny day here temps in the 20's
As for my walks today,I didn't; go far because the sidewalks were too icy.I just went around our small parking lot driveway and adjacent sidewalks that are always salted and shoveled,a couple of times
The good news, the Gates van is back from the shop after almost 3 weeks,
Tonight I'll be having weekly dinner at 5:30 with the guys, Bob,Gene&Jim.Monday morning I called& made the reservation in advance

I took Deja's fountain apart, cleaned it and replaced the filters before filling it with fresh (filtered) water. Also with the assistance of my son, who I call "Tall Thing" when I need things up high done, I purged and reorganized some items in my storage closet. We were able to fit two throw pillows that I intend to use at some point, on top of blankets in our linen closet. I removed a box of bows and bag of tiny baskets for decorating that I'll give away. Removing those items freed up more space in the storage closet.

@Capt Lightning: My deepest condolences. I've been where you are now. I lost my only Son twenty yrs ago. It was the hardest thing life has ever hit me with and I doubt I will ever really heal from his loss......but even though you can't see how it happens over time; life does go on and the pain does eventually ease somewhat. You never forget him however.

Midnight Friday now. This Thursday morning, I came down with an unpleasant case of norovirus. Seems like am already recovered. Unpleasant nausea for first 3 hours, threw up several times, shaking chills, 100.4F low fever. Very immobilizing

Very contagious virus probably picked up at one of 2 supermarkets I visited Wednesday by touching objects like doors, carts, and especially the self checkout screen. Not easily killed by alcohol cleaners.

Sorry you are feeling rough David, it is not fun,,,,I arose at 4am, so
this will be a long day....too soon to know if I feel good or not,
that will come later lol....may do a bit of laundry, or not....binged streamed the series of witches in sanctury last eve, really enjoyed it...
Make it a great day!!!!!!:cool::D:coffee::love::love:
