I ordered new eyeglasses online because the sale ends at midnight. They are just like the old ones but with new prescription. My hearing isn't so hot but at least I will be able to see better.

Now a quick trip to the store to be ready for the new year. Be happy.

Were they about to expire?
No. I drove back the 3 miles this morning and bought another 4 below for $1 each. Were still a couple dozen more left. All mine below were dated for between June 2026 and April 2027. The one I opened last night was well frozen and delicious without any signs of even slightly having melted. Maybe was some warehouse storage clearance need?

A large tropical air mass from the equator has moved up north with a solid cloud expanse of light rain across much of the state with chilly temperatures in the SFBA in the low 50Fs. Any usual area New Years midnight fireworks events will be unpleasantly wet. Well, its the wet season here and that often happens. Will initially piss on Tahoe ski slopes even at highest elevations and then by Friday night a cold front from the north pushes down that will be all snow at sub freezing temps for several days. Yeah, Januarymr dave will be skiing a whole lot.

Today, a favorite small club venue 45 miles north has 9 punk, metal, and jam bands scheduled from 3pm thru 2am that I seem to have decided to do??? Lots of rowdy musicians from lots of bands and pizza. Will bring my umbrella. My energy is not likely to last beyond early evening, so will likely drive back home, get warm, then feast of some of these pies.

Everyone have a fun end of 2025 and let's hope 2026 is AWESOME !!!

Got to the lift, it was sunny, warm and crowded, thankfully the Seattle Ridge area opened for the first time this season so the tourists, and beginners were over there. Made a few laps, w a bit less than optimum snow. My legs were toast from yesterday's workout and from the lingering effects of the flu so I bugged out before I hit anyone or got hit. The separate beginner mountain hasn't fully opened so we have a bigger dose of novices than normal.

The year had some challenges, some that were met and others that are still a work in progress. Overall I'm pleased w my families situation and desperately sad and angry for others that haven't been as fortunate.

The wx looks warm and wet the next few days. Fireworks tonight at 9am, viewable from home, and then it's over for 2025. Best wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year!!!

Per above, went to a Walmart Neighborhood Market where they had dozens of these Marie Callender 30.3 ounce frozen, No Bake, Coconut Cream Pies on sale in a large freezer box for just $1 that are normally $7.32. Also for just $1, some same size Lemon Meringue Pies and Chocolate Satin Pies. People thought it was a mistake, so I just took one. But at the self checkout it indeed showed $1. Yea! Am letting a section thaw out and if it is as good as expected, will drive the 3 miles each way to buy a few more. :p
I looked at the WalMart's website nearest to me. Here Marie Callender pies are $5.63 each and that is on sale. Regular price is $6.97.

I took 2 large bags of donations to the Hospice charity warehouse this morning . They were only going to be open for a couple of hours until mid-day today... , there's plenty other charity shops around that same area, but the problem with those is that there's no parking anywhere near the shops... so this hospice warehouse has a little bit of a drop off area...so more people go there now..

When I got there, there was a car in front who were offloading what looked like rails of beautiful stylish ''elder'' clothing... the couple donating were about my age, so I'm thinking that maybe it was the loss of a parent and the ultimate clearing out.

I took my things in just as the woman was bringing in her last bundle of clothing, all on hangers and half covered with a black bin bag.. and she asked the volunteer where she should put them, as they previous truck on wheels was now full of their donations ... and as she laid them in the new truck... she stroked them in a way of parting.... * so sad*...

well I've had 2 dinners tonight....

The neighbours brought around a new years eve dinner for me... this...
2 types of ham, one boiled, and one spiced... brussels, baby potatoes, runner beans , mashed buttery spuds and onions , broccoli cheese

Clearly I couldn't eat it because I already had dinner.. about 2 hours before , but I did try a taste of the runner beans and they are delicious... she's a very good cook.... but I've had to put the dinner away , in the fridge for tomorrow. The trouble is they bring food around very late ... they brought this at past 9pm.... and I've almost always had dinner by then

Neighbour asked if I;d be going to bed early ,because she's got cake to bring around.. I told a white lie and said I would be..so she said she'd bring it tomorrow instead lol...

MQ, do you eat most of your meals in a common dining room or in your own quarters? I ask because you often mention making reservations for the dining room and I've wondered if it's by reservation only?
Hi SS, our cafe is open every day from 11-6{except Sun} I usually have my lunches there,no need for reservations. As for my dinners that I eat in my apt, I have to call ahead of time by 2pm leave message what I want and what time I'll pick it up usually 5:30pm
If I want to eat in the dining room its by reservation call it in by 2pm,I usually do it a couple days ahead of time, leave message what time who is going to be with me. e.g. most Thurs I eat dinner at 5:30 with Jim, Gene, and Bob.Sadly, our friend, Connie who has lived here at Gates since it opened{2017} no longer is living here. She's now is in skilled nursing at the other Canterbury Woods in Williamsville{ burb of Buffalo} Sue

Mercy! That looks fabulous! I wish I could reach right through the computer screen🤠🤠

I cleaned my bathroom floor with dry and wet Swiffers in the early a.m., finished the laundry in the afternoon (didn't put all of it away though) and loaded/ran the dishwasher. This evening, I cleared the clutter and papers off my desk in the studio so I could sit in there, eat the fries my son brought me and have a conversation with him. I also had phone conversations with HS#3, my BFF and the friend who just lost her brother. I feel I earned my keep today...now I can watch as much T.V. as I want without guilt. :D
