Productive. Picked up a book at the library "Never Have Your Dog Stuffed" by Alan Alda. Went grocery shopping. Stopped by my tax preparer's office to sign the documents needed to file my return. (I'm getting back a little over $3500). Her fee went up $10 from last year.

Went grocery shopping and still had time to fizzle away before picking up the meals to deliver, so I went in Family Dollar. They has Valentine candy on sale for 70% off promised on a shelf sign. I picked out two small items, but when I checked out, they rang up the usual price. I asked the clerk if the prices included the 70% discount. She responded with a helpful "I don't know." The store supervisor was summoned. They wrestled with the cash register about 5 minutes. They finally got the candy for less, but I'm not sure it was the full 70% off. Recently I got some baking chips and the tag on the shelf said "Buy 2 bags for $4." I did but they rang up $5 each. I hate Family Dollar.

Having horrible day. I hate it here. Their food is slop. I want to go home now. It’s been three weeks. It’s phucking enough. They put up obstacles for me not getting home care. The longer they keep me the more money they make. It’s a racket.

Unfortunately I do need assistance. What price am I willing to pay for theirs?

As one of the few people here who have their marbles I would rather be dead than have no other option but this. I don’t see that as morbid. We all know what we are willing to accept regarding life and its quality

He was being generous. The two bucks for him might be worth twenty for you
I won't take money directly from a client. Like Pepper said, they probably need the money more than I do.

A bought gift is something different. If they went to that trouble and expense, it would probably hurt their feelings if I refused it. I've had clients bake me cookies and give gift certificates enclosed in holiday cards. Most don't do those things and I totally understand that.

One of the meal clients tried to offer me money today. We're not supposed to take money from clients. It was $2. He said to put it towards gas. That wouldn't buy a gallon here even if I accepted it. He probably though he was being generous.
well as someone who needs meals delivered to him he probably hasn't driven for a while, and may not be uptodate with the cost of petrol..... and I suspect he didn't think that it took a gallon of fuel for you to get to him, but may realise you don't get paid... so he was being very fair IMO if not generous....

As he said , ''put it towards gas''.... I would have been delighted, in your shoes ..but like you would have refused it with thanks

can't your family bring you food ?.... or what about buying food from the hospital shop ?

You wouldn't really be rather dead than being cared for in a hospital... they're trying to do their best for you, and you know it otherwise you would sign yourself out... Let them help you... food is a big issue , it's terrible in the Uk as well.. but you need to get well... so come to some arrangement about the food with your family.. it'll make things more bearable.

I thought I did have a food ETC arrangement with family. DIL brought over bunch of bananas today.
They should be taking me out of this dump once a week for a meal. They live two blocks away and visit often. I’m only saying what I know I would have done for my mother.

I also in my mind included the hours I spent here in my own waste.

There is no company here. Slack jaws clinging to life are the majority.

Son said I would be wrong to leave my grandson. I say that is my decision to make.

Certainly not at this point yet. (((Hollydolly)))

have you noticed a similar discussion going on about homeless people on another thread Pepper?? - hope someone is carrying for your home by the by?? and garden??

@moviequeen1 Have I missed it or have you not mentioned "your" dog lately?

@hawkdon, cold water for your coffee? Just add some ice and have iced coffee instead. You can pretend it's the middle of the summer and you're just trying to stay cool :ROFLMAO:.
Hi,No I haven't been dog sitting my 'buddy boy' in a couple of months. Marcia's husband, Dave retired last June, so he's home now more. The last time I saw Tage was in early Dec. Whenever I talk to Marcia on the phone, he hears my voice,he starts barking LOL!

Went with hubby to see his doctor.

Doctor agreed with us that therapy /exercises wouldn't help his leg problem.
Looked at hubby's sore foot, send us for x-ray of it.

Dr. asked why he wasn't wearing hearing aid.
See Dr . about that,,,we made an appointment for that.

By time we were done,, I was feeling bit confused.
Should have taken notes?
He has to see a urology Dr., due to his age.

Marking his dates on calendar ,, saw that he & I have aptm. same day buy half hour apart.

Our hospital is getting new doctors for dental, skin,,& feet for 2 days a week.
Cuts down driving some distance to see a specialist.

Stopped for lunch at local place,,,, not good food.

We later agreed that McDonnells would have been better!

Hope everyone is having a good day

I am praying for some snowfall tomorrow <ktla.com/los-angeles-weather>............................No wonder that trees are in full bloom.

A nicer street in our town: the median strip has flowering trees and roses in bloom. Other streets are lined with orange trees w/fruits.

My son-in-law is helping me to cutting weeds...................... much to the dismay of my puppy who loves racing through tall weeds.

@packleader, you should head my way! We're expecting 2 inches on Saturday. ☺️

I would like a credible source to get rid of the bazillion fake lady bugs. I can sweep the floor this morning and it looks like it hasn’t been touched for a week, at day’s end 😡

I got rid of the stink bugs using Glade’s timed atomizers of peppermint , but it doesn’t begin to phase the fake ladybugs.
I missed this post, @Imogene. We used to get a ton of those Asian lady beetles up in Michigan—although I don't think we got as many as you've been getting. Good luck.

Now that we're in North Dakota, box elder beetles are the new pest. At least they, like ladybugs/Asian lady beetles, don't sting or bite. And I'll take both of those over crickets. Of course, crickets don't bite or sting, either, but I hate the way they jump around so erratically. The ones in Virginia were huge! Here in ND they are very small, and fortunately I don't see many of them.

@hollydolly, I mistyped my earlier post. I understand that Ian Huntley only (well, "only") took a beating and was not in fact killed. My use of the word "fate" made it sound like I thought he had died.

I'm posting tonight instead of in the morning because I will be up late working in the hope of finishing my current article and meeting my friends for our weekly coffee get-together. 🤞 So I'll say right now that I hope everyone has a great Friday!

Apparently he's beeen so badly injured they think he won't survive anyway... I hope he doesn't....

Good morning earlywormer's !! Had a good nite of
sleep, up at 5am, aches n pains minimal so far. 39f
and will get into 70;s later on....had an email that I'd
been expecting, from landlord, odd tho, my rent is
going up from 939.95 to $945.00 a month, very
surprising that it wasn't much more....so guess I'll
be here awhile longer LOL....caregiver lady is due
today, so must, of course, straighten things up a bit...I finished the binge-out on the witches show
finally, so got to find another one....also got to
get someone to clean yard up for the mowing season.....ah well,, catch you all later.....;):love::love::coffee::devilish:

Good Friday morning!

Fog is heavy this morning. temperature should reach close to 70° today. One meteorologist at 10 o’clock last night said the predictions for my area, no make that the whole area from the Tennessee valley up through the Ohio Valley, should see above average temperatures, some more than others.

I’m not moving very fast getting my extra cleaning done for when the kids get here next week. I need to really get my butt in gear, that means I need to dig out the other back brace if I want to keep pushing along.

@hawkdon I hope your landlord did not make a mistake with the increase in your rent.

By caregiver, do you mean for yourself or for your home? I am OK for myself. I cannot find anyone for this house. They don’t know how to work. They want the money alright but the younger generations do not know how to clean. I have been through three people and just gave up. I can’t clean near as good as I used to, but I’m still more efficient and better at it than these people that want paid a ridiculous amount of money.

I also live on 1-1/2 lane road that I have had people tell me I should be playing Deliverance music coming up the hill. Some people aren’t too enthused about coming out here lol lol. I am only 15 miles from town. You know that’s not very far when one lives in the country.

@hollydolly , I watched the video of the second link you posted. I need to go back and hear it again, when I really have more time; that will be for the third time, lol lol. What you could not have known when you posted that link for me is that fella is from the Appalachian Mountain area. He is not that far from me so taking his thoughts to heart makes a big impact. I live in the foothills of the Cumberland Plateau, which is part of the Appalachian run on the very southern end. Plus he looks like a generally overall “good guy “😇😇

OK, that’s it for me for now. My Excedrin is kicking in —- all three of them. So now I need to get the horse feed ready and feed breakfast at the barn before The Boys call the horse abuse hotline.. They get fed three times a day because my 30-ish guy is the hardest keeper I have ever owned in my 60+ years of having horses. He is maintaining the same ”thin” he was going into winter, so I’m hoping he’ll pick up some weight now that the grass is about ready to come on. There’s 19 acres of great pasture out there so hopefully it helps.

The Arabian is a little tank. What he needs to lose the elderly fella needs to gain. The neighbors who can see my horses are great. They understand Duncan is elderly and they also know to keep an eye on them in case something were to happen to my old self and I can’t get to the barn. The horses only water source is me so they can’t afford to go for too long if I were to “fall and can’t get up “.

enough of that, I’m sure by this time of me being on this forum, most of the people are doing an eye roll every time I mention my horses lol lol. I can’t help it, but they have been my life‘s blood since I was two years old and didn’t have a horse. 🤠🤠

I hope everyone has a great day. Can you believe we are going into March already?
