Morning all, what a difference a day makes, yesterday the predicted thunderstorms never materialized. There was a downpour early then it became a p. sunny day high was 72
This morning on my early walk at 6:50 temp was 37, wore my yellow reflector vest since it was still dark as I strolled around the building before breakfast Today's forecast, sunny in 40's
This morning, close friend, Marcia&hubby Dave are picking me& neighbor, Bill up at 10 going to our 10:30 church service Afterwards,me, Bill&Jerry are going to brunch at noon in dining room, along with new resident, Russ who lives across the hall from me. I called in the reservation this morning{has to be in by 9:30}
The rest of my day read my book, take another walk this afternoon. I cancelled my Sun delivery subscription to Buffalo News after the price was jacked up $30 without any notice. I wasn't; going to pay $199 for 13 weeks, what a ripoff
Yesterday, talked with my brother because today he& his wife, their 2 best friends, Caleb&his wife Shay are flying to Galopos Islands will return on March 18th
Everybody have a good day
WoW ! I would have done exactly the same thing

Good morning to everyone. It is 70 degrees now and 85 this afternoon with some rain showers. I hope the rain showers will happen. My lawn is semi green and needs the water. We are under a water limit due to fire warnings, so cannot water by hose.

The time change makes getting used to as now everything is one hour ahead from yesterday. I need to change some of the clocks in the house.

We need to get gasoline for the car and prices have gone up a lot. Yesterday it was $3.50 a gallon and it was only $2.69 the last time we had it filled.

I hope all of you are feeling well and enjoy your day.

talking of fuel prices going up... as well as being told yesterday that our gas has doubled in price.. and our electricity has risen significantly... we're now told today that the UK has only 2 days of Gas left in store because the Middle East conflict shut down the world's largest gas facility and Iran closed a key shipping channel.

This is really infuriating for us, because we're not even a part of this war....

@hollydolly that is bad news and you are right, you are not a part of the war. It seems one cannot plan ahead for anything with the cost of living.

Our prices here are going up with health insurance, home insurance, car insurance along with energy costs. It makes one wonder how we will be able to live with all the ongoing prices soaring.

I hope things improve for you hollydolly and we all can benefit with the end of this war.

I'm so sorry about this... is he close enough that you can visit him in the hospital?
Unfortunately, he is not. He's in Florida, and I am in North Dakota. At this point, I'm playing it by ear as to whether to fly down.

@OneEyedDiva, that virgin pina colada, and the meal, both look delicious! My mouth was watering. Thank you for the prayer for my father.

I got almost no work done today, and I have a long, complicated article due tomorrow, so I really have to force myself to buckle down today.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

I would be infuriated, too.

I think this was mentioned in a different thread, but I have been angered that our local gas prices shot up almost a full dollar on the day the attack on Iran was announced. This clearly was a matter of greed and not a true shortage, given the timing.

you did right to spend that money on that junk food for today.... given how stressed you are.. and well done to you for doing it..

I hope your dad gets better soon and it turns out to be nothing too serious
Thank you, @hollydolly! I hate to derail my diet with sugar and fats, but if needs must, ha ha. And it's definitely preferable to taking a drink. I've been working hard to eat healthy and exercise.

yes exactly , and you have your priorities in the right place....

Today , altho' I wasn't going to do much and I haven't... I still have managed to clear out 20 items from the triple wardobe in the back bedroom.. some of which have never been worn.. and I've bagged them up to take to the Hospice charity.. There's still a huge amount that has to be cleared out, but they're all new with the tags still attached , so I have to make time soon to photograph them all to put them up for sale online . In the meantime I've freed up 20 more hangers which I need for clothing I've bought recently.....

I've also got the laundry on..including my trainers in there ( sneakers)......and equally I have Tempura Chicken breast cooking in the AF as I type this.

It never fails to make me wonder how amazed my mother and grandmother would have been today if they could see how much technoology has improved and you can just walk away from the laundry, and the cooking.. and do something you enjoy doing while a machine is taking care of it all for us..

In a few minutes the chicken will be ready, and I'll just sit in front of the tv eating it.. having had no part in the cooking of it...

@Rae and @KSav, I feel your pain. Our gas has also climbed a full dollar - perhaps more, though only half that at Costco. Costco doesn't always happen to be on my route when I need fuel, but I'll make a stronger effort to swing by whenever I'm within a couple of miles and at half a tank or less.

@hollydolly, Wow! Your fuel cost increases are staggering. Heads of state make decisions and everybody else pays the price. Literally.

It's all so infuriating. 😡

Hi Folks, since the previous thread was for 2024..... a brand new ''How was your day thread for 2025...
let's hope the New Year brings us all everything we wish for ourselves :giggle: 🤞
I am looking to get this house ready for sale, finding a new piece of property to build my last small home on, and hopefully find a handyman to take care of the smaller items that I need help with. I would love to start a local community in person place to enjoy each other as is done on here, but in person once a week/month once get my new place built. Maybe be a model for other communities. I miss having real "Neighbors" and want to start that community of know your neighbors or community not just see them.

Had a great day at the horse races yesterday with the clan. How fortunate DH & I are that our kids and grands are all local and everyone gets along well. We make time for one another and are happy to lend a hand when someone can use it. ❤️

The weather will be all over the place over the next few days before settling into highs in the 80s. It stays comfortable thanks to the 30° swing between day and night temperatures.

Hope all have a super-terrific day!

Morning all, on early walk at 6:50 temp was 40 was really breezy so I didn't; go far on walk
My plans today, taking the Gates van at 8:45, being dropped off at Kohl's looking for new pair of walking shoes
When I return, see what today's lunch& dinner menu looks like, do NYT crossword puzzle on line
I may go out for walk in afternoon if the wind has died down, high today in mid 50's
Everybody have a good day

↑↑...Speaking of gas prices.

Just topped off the pickup with regular 100% gas and it has gone up 80¢ per gallon since I last filled up on 2-18....$3.59 per gallon now.
You think that's bad, we've been told this morning due to the US /Iran war which we're not part of..our fuel is potentially going to go up to £2.00 per litre.. that's £9 per gallon... = $12 USD..PER Gallon !!

😖😖😖😖

Morning... peeps of SF...🙋‍♀️

It's another dry but overcast day temps at 9 deg..... ... I'm just waiting for delivery which is due to arrive any time now...
Not going anywhere today because I have to go out for an appointment tomorrow, so anything that needs doing outdoors will get done then.

Have the best start to the week you can, folks... 🌺🌼

Twelve bucks a gallon ???

View attachment 490049
yep.... currently it's around £6.00... per gallon approx $8 USD...which is hugely high as it is... but who the hell is going to afford to pay the equivielent of $12 USD per Gallon... to get to work?

That will mean bus and train fares will all rise.. food prices will go through the roof.. and ultimately we'll end up back like in Covid days with people working from home, which means no customer ever get anything done because the WFH are out shopping..or at the beach... ...

All for something we're not even involved in...

Even here in the U.S. we are wondering about gas prices, electric & heating prices .

I hope we can get a a small garden going this year.
Hopefully hubby will try to walk more,, so he can help.

This morning he was grumbling about no calls from the dentist or hospital.
We both would like to get the prostate biopsy over with, so we can go forward with life.

It's a lovely sunny day here,,, hope everyone else has a sunny day. 🙏

would you be able to do that on your local Neighbourhood App ?

sorry I don't mean to come across as sarcastic toward you... but you say ''even here in the US we're wondering about prices''

It should be even..it should be ONLY your country that's suffering because they started this war.. and to start a war and make everybody else suffer whose not involved is just selfish & diabolical..

It's like watching 2 people involved in a street brawl, and the police arresting us bystanders... instead of the perpetrators

Again..this is not directed at YOU .. this is high frustration at the unfairness of this
