Well another example of inflated ....had a man stop
about the lawnwork I want to get done.....he quoted me
$340.00 dollars!!!! and with a straight face!!! Last year I
had it donefor $75.00!!! I said no by the way, will keep
looking!!! (it is a normal size city home lot)
Must be a relative of the man who quoted me $350 to hang a door awning over my back door of which I had
the awning and all assembled. Asked my neighbor and he said $25 so I gave him $50 for being nice about it.
Took all of 15 minutes to put it up and put the ladder away.

It's been a few days since I posted in this thread. Trying to stay off SF while my emotions are overloaded by the new war, the old wars, the business of life, and the change in seasons that is underway.

Skiing has been very predictable, with occasional very good days sprinkled in. We had temps in the low teens F° for 36 hours so they were able to make a few inches of snow to freshen up a few runs. The afternoon warmth turns machine groomed into to slush so it's difficult for the groomers to do a great job.

Today we're expecting winds up to 70mph, and the lifts are starting and stopping when the gusts get too strong. Wind speed is over 40mph right now on top.

It's been warm w virtually no snowpack so the deer and elk appear to be migrating to higher ground as we've seen some different herds come through. Fawns and calves should have had a high survival rate of since it was never cold nor was the snow deep, of course the adults just cruised through the "winter."

I've also been working on my pistol shooting. I use 2 weapons, 1 is my bear defense pistol(10mm), and the same pistol in a smaller caliber (.22lr) which is way quieter and the ammo is 1/5 the expense of the larger caliber. My practice routine is based on how my golf coaches taught me to practice,,,,,1 skill at a time w feedback.

12 rounds from 17 yards w 10mm, first shots of the session.

Steel silhouette - fun to hear the tink when it's struck.

.22lr This target w 7 sub targets makes putting numerous rounds downrange and still be able to figure out where the shots hit.

Lastly it's nearly motorcycle season. It'll be in the high 60's °F by late next week. This season I've put a big emphasis on track days and motorcycle training. It's a bit anxiety producing at the moment, the first official event is 4/11 so I've got a month to knock the rust off. I'm really looking forward to that as well as a couple motorcycle trips; one to the St Joe River (Avery, ID) and another to the Lost Coast of CA (Petrolia, CA) - majestic coastline and redwoods.

Hope each and every one of you are doing well!

Imogene, I am well known on this forum for doing a lot in any one day..I'm often asked how do it..... but I am in awe at how much YOU do... you're absolutely incredible.. and you're older than me by almost a decade.. and using an aid to help you walk..

I secretly think you're a Super Hooman

@hollydolly thank you very much for your kind words ❤️❤️

But don’t give me too much credit. I have a hand truck to help move stuff I can’t lift anymore. I slide the feed off the back seat of the Saturn onto the dolly, then wheel it to where I want it. Mostly balance is involved.

My horses really are the reason I get up and move every day. Once Duncan crosses over, Ali-the-Arabian will have to go home to his real family.

I’m not sure I will know how to carry on without horses in my life. It took him a lot of years, but my brother finally gets it and now starts to worry what I will do without a horse to care for, lollol

I will still have my dogs, but being without horses will be the end of an era in every sense.

And I LOVE the meme! Horses in various hues of brown are my favorites😍😍

That Guy is pretty proud of himself and his equipment isn’t he lol.

I can understand a price increase to compensate for fuel prices, but buying him a new zero turn should not be dependent on your checkbook🤯🤯

Good morning peeps of SF.... 🌺

It's dry, little wind... 7deg c... ... today at some point I am supposed to be getting the call from the doctor to explain my X-Ray results from last month... for my hip and lower back....so we'll see what that reveals... and where we go from there...

On the neighbourhood App, people are saying the garages have run out of petrol & diesel..... the prices have gone up today over £6.30 per gallon for petrol... £6.80 for Diesel ($8.35 USD + $9.00 USD).. and it looks like the panic buying has begun... *sigh*..but who could blame anyone..people have to get to work ..

With the price of fuel shooting up..it means food will do the same, ..everything will rise... even Supermarket and Amazon deliveries... that's if ultimately they can even source any fuel... :(

Morning all folks!!! No door knock to wake up to,,,
just woke straight up at 530am, so here we go for
Friday!!! yay....got #2 homecare lady coming today,
and she comes early, so need to be presentable...
I think I will have a person for the lawn coming either
today, or Sunday...reason for the confusion is he is
not english speaking very well, so hard to read....
Don't know of anything else going on so thats it....
Have a good day.... ;) :cool: :coffee::love:

Well I just realised it's Black friday... friday the 13th....

Anyone superstitious ?

I just had good news anyway.. doctor rang super nice doctor this time... told me the results of my X-rays.. and said that I've to get cortisone injections in my hips.. and rather than wait for many months on the hospital waiting list they will do it at the GP surgery... so I just have to wait for confirmation now from reception.. *yeah*(y)

Good morning to everyone. It is cooler this morning at 59 degrees but 80 this afternoon.

Yesterday, we had rain and wouldn't you know it, it started while uptown doing some shopping. I got rained on and we had to drive slow going home. It was supposed to be in the afternoon but changed its mind.

I am not superstitious but my husband does not like the number 13. So, he will not want to go out today.

Sounds like better news @hollydolly with your hips.

Have a good day, everyone.

It’s perfectly fine to vent about the weather, especially when everyone else seems to be enjoying spring.
I meant to say, thank you for the kind words, @Jules, and I had a bit of a laugh yesterday. I was grouchy about the weather again (freezing rain, extremely strong winds), when I checked the forecast for my older daughter's area and saw they are under a Blizzard Warning from the National Weather Service! 😁 I texted her, and sure enough, she was not happy. She and my younger daughter and I all actually do like winter weather, and each fall we look forward to the first snowfall, but by February we have had enough, and by March we get flat-out irritated with it.

It should clear up by the time I leave for my visit next week. 🤞

I am in a rush this morning, trying to meet two deadlines, so I am making this quick post and will have to catch up with everything later this afternoon.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

The commode would not stop running when flushed and tank wouldn't fill; had to turn off water supply. I called the regular plumber (who charges $200 / hour) and got voicemail, then no return call after one hour. I called another plumber who actually answered the phone. He arrived 20 minutes later, and worked inside the tank on the back for about 10 minutes, got everything working fine again, and the total charge was $65.00. I guess I know who I'll be calling next time I need any plumbing work done.

Was it something simple like the chain was stuck??

I was up at 1:30 a.m. at which time I scooped the litter box, then cleaned Deja's fountain filter and tray (meant to do those things last night). I checked our credit card balances and did some accounting for my son and me. I decided to call Wells Fargo around 7:15...figured people would be getting ready for their day or for work and the wait wouldn't be too long. I was right. I called to ask that they stop sending me those balance transfer checks because sometimes our mail goes to the wrong parties. I got transferred three times and was on the phone for almost 40 minutes. Each rep was nice though.

I scanned some documents, finished my state tax return with no problems detected and will e-file later. I need to fill my pill cases and get the dusting done. I definitely have to run the dishwasher and finish cleaning up my kitchen. I don't have to worry about cooking because I have leftover lentil soup that my son made as well as quick fix meal options.

Could be (?) I didn't ask for details. But the old plumber would charge a minimum fee of $200 (his hourly rate) regardless if he stayed 10 minutes or 59 minutes, so he's history.

I did ask this plumber what if it does it again? He told me if it does it again within a few days, he would replace the entire works in the tank for a total of $185.00 and would credit me back the $65 I've already paid.

If it happens again, open the tank and look inside.. could be a simple fix that you could easily do yourself.. and save money.
