I am keeping myself busy with house maintenance, like plastering cement repairs (left picture) re-gluing leaking PVC water lines, changing batteries on our gate motor, changing motor oil on our cars, etc. I am glad that my son-in-law is helping me with cutting weeds (right picture.)

Having reached 90, I am shooting now for 100. To get there, it’s most important to be physically active, like walking/hiking 1½ hours a day, which covers about 3½ miles, with my Boxer dogs (left picture.) For keeping my arms in shape, I am using my mini-gym in front of the TV (right picture.)

To reach my goal, sticking to the Mediterranean Diet is important. --- I have a great family life, with our children living only a few miles from us; and a large gathering is coming up for the 50th wedding anniversary of in-laws. -- I got used to sleeping with an apnea machine. With it, my blood oxygen improved in 6 month from 94/95 to 96. -- I take prescription medication only for hypertension and cholesterol, but plenty of nutritional supplements:

Almost daily a blueberry milkshake that includes: Red Beet Root Powder --- Amino Acids with electrolytes Powder --- Collagen Peptides Powder --- Green & Super Foods Powder --- Organic Protein Powder --- Cacao powder.

Every-day nutritional supplements: Lutein & Zeaxanthin --- Glucosamine with Chondroitin --- fish oil “Omega 3 fatty acids” --- Centrum’s “Silver Multivitamins” --- Citracal calcium --- Alpha-Lipoic-Acid --- Apple Cider Vinegar --- CoQ10 --- Fiber powder.
Also 4 cups of green tea --- for breakfast typically steel-cut oats with finely ground flaxseeds or chia seeds --- nuts --- some extra virgin olive oil.

Rotating nutritional supplements: Garlic --- Curcumin (Turmeric abstract) with black pepper --- Resveratrol --- Quercetin with Bromelain --- Alpha Brain’s “Memory & Focus” --- 60 Billion Probiotics --- for Hair/Skin/Nails: Biotin with Hyaluronic Acid and Amla extract --- Triple Lecithin --- Cranberry tablets --- Lion’s Mane Mushroom Capsules.

Recently added: L-Arginine --- Cod Liver Oil --- Ceylon Cinnamon --- Vitamin K-2 MK-7 --- Methyl B-12.

The above includes anti-oxygen supplements which keeps my body inflammation low, as measured by the C-Reactive Protein Test. Inflammation of the body is the root cause of so many problems. Right now I am working on improving my BUN test for kidneys. I think it's dehydration. I will request another BUN test in three months. PCP's are great, but their time is limited. You are primarily responsible for your own health.

With the Medicare Advantage Plan, I am with Kaiser Permanente (kp.org). But actually,I have been with Kaiser for over 50 years. My next appointments are for (a) getting my toe nails cut by a Podiatry MD; (b) getting a DEXA Bone Density Test; (c) getting a Prolia bone density injection and my 11th Covid shot. I also will see my dentist for a crown that needs an adjustment.

Because of too much maintenance work, we have the property signed over to our children and are debating to move to a retirement community that accepts my dogs.

PS, I was born in Nazi Germany, lived on 3 continents, and attended colleges in 4 countries. My first wife was 10 years younger than I am, and we split as friends. After our divorce, we vacationed in Europe; and her parents had no idea that we were divorced when visiting them. It was tough to split.

My second wife is from Asia and almost 20 years younger. Both wives earned M.A. degrees and had good jobs but are now retired. Marriages have their ups and downs. From my first wife I learned to compromise, and that’s why my second marriage has lasted already close to 50 years.
Packleader, you are......

I put some items away and cleaned part of the outfit I'm wearing to my granddaughter's graduation tomorrow. I'm changing my purse and all that entails. I also shaped my eyebrows and did my nails tonight. I've already cleaned up the kitchen and won't eat or drink anything else because that would necessitate too many bathroom stops. The last meal and drink was 6 p.m. This fast will be hard for me. :censored:

I wonder how hard it will be to find a place with the dogs. 🤔
Your supplement regiment must be helping, you look fit as a fiddle!

Morning all, sun was out as I went on my early morning stroll temp was 48, but temps will be warmer today in the 60's
My plans today, weekly exercise class, read today's NYT, my book, afternoon walk after lunch/nap
I'm eating again in the dining room tonight at 5:45 by 3 other residents/friends I haven't seen them in a couple of days. Its always a great way to catch up whats going on with them
Everybody have a good day

Good morning to everyone. It is cooler this morning at 60 degrees but warming to 90 this afternoon. It is so nice to see my lawn getting green again after the rain we had in the last five days. More rain in the next 10 days in the forecast.

The roads are all dug up in the neighborhood and all the speed bumps gone. I guess they will be finishing it up by next week. The roads were getting to be in bad shape so it will be nice when it is finished.

I hope all of you stay well and have a nice day today. :)

Hello! 1778847923497.gif

I haven't been around here much lately. Too much going on in my life, and it's kept me rundown. I hope all everyone is doing well!

🐀 Most of yesterday was spent trying to get the mice out of the hood of our truck! What an ordeal! They are also in the engine area of our car. I'm sure that the "Mice War" will not be over any time soon. 1778848001873.gif

It's going to be hot and sunny for most of today. We might get a sprinkle in the afternoon. I'll probably stay indoors during the hottest part of the day.

So far the forecast is good for skating tomorrow. However, they do keep changing it, so I think that they are only guessing! 🙄 We'll decide in the morning.

Enjoy your day. 1778848074747.gif

Got mamas yard mowed for her yesterday and this morning she wants to go to the Asian district in OKC to do a little grocery shopping.

She hinted that she was getting hungry for roast duck last night so that's more than likely what we'll be having for lunch which suits me just fine because I really like it also.

View attachment 503610
yes I'm a big fan of roast duck, I have it a few times a year....

An early start for me. Up and out by 7:30am and up to Kendal for a photo job at a Primary School. Year 6 get hoodies at the end of their last year. The school logo and the year number - and all their names on the back. I think this is the 4th year I've photographed them. Individual portraits, 'Friendship Groups', any small groups they want and a big group shot of them all. Then back to my local park for the Tai Chi class I teach there on Friday mornings. Then home for a well earned nap :ROFLMAO:

What I miss the most about city living:
1) The Symphony. Even the best recording can't compare to an in person performance.
2) Theater, including opera, plays, dance.
3) Boutique shops.
4) Good restaurants.

What I don't miss about city living:
1) Crowds.
2) Traffic.
3) Crime.
4) Noise.
5) Pollution.

Thats what suburbs are for. We can access the good and avoid the bad.

DH & I just pulled together some donations for a local homeless charity. They make donating very easy by texting me a few days before their truck will be in my area (about every six weeks). To arrange a pick up, I text YES, box or bag my donations, tag it with their name, and place everything in my driveway. They even text a reminder on the morning of their scheduled pick up.

Business chores again today, plus more cartons expected from UPS. If we count everything in and get it tagged and squared away today, we'll probably take the littles tomorrow and/or Sunday. ❤️

The weather has been lovely. Highs in the mid 70s at least through the weekend. Light sweater and long pants weather. It'll soon be shorts and tee shirt weather, so I'm enjoying these temps while we have them.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

It has been a good day!! Carelady was here and we chatted a bit before

0r make my own...may get some stormy weather tonite...will see....y'all take
good care now!!!!:LOL::love::devilish:😍🥰😎

You're lucky to live in an area where there's so much to do.
During the Viet Name War, after I was HD from the USAF, chose to live in Northern California. That was despite the fact my family who wanted me to return, was living in Texas at the time as my dad was a field rep for the NASA Connecticut contractor that made the astronaut's Moon space suits. (I actually secretly have Moon dust.) Part of my reasoning as someone born in downtown LA, was that I lived most of my K12 life in California where I went to 10 different schools as my dad moved frequently which I hated. As a kid for the sake of fishing, always wanted to visit wilderness areas that a map I had as a kid showed myriad mystery blue lakes in the Sierra Nevada.

So poor with just about $500 in my pocket while carrying a duffle bag, from Travis AFB, took a bus to San Francisco where I spent a year living cheaply dealing with a serious medical issue, a splenic artery pseudoaneurysm, that the VA didn't help though a monthly unemployment check did. I also lived several blocks away from Fillmore West and went to 2 or 3 shows a week for $7 entry for most of a year. Eventually after taking an employment recruiter's test, was hired down in Santa Clara for $2.83/hour as a junior electronics technician.

So took a Greyhound Bus 55 miles south to down there. Then at a pay phone from a rental ad in a newspaper I bought at the bus stop I left from, called up a nearby cheap studio apartment to the workplace. So walked to work for several months before finally buying an old car. That loudly threw a rod on the freeway while driving back from a rock concert one day in San Francisco.

Over the next decade, I was still too poor to do much more than enjoy live music concerts and explore the north state that was usually fishing oriented. Also began backpacking that was huge for Counterculture oriented persons in that era. Soon rose to the top of my career by mostly self reading what others went to college for, saved money, and by a decade later was well off enough to also start Tahoe skiing during winters.

Yesterday, Thursday, drove up north 3 hours and did close-up photography on surf smoothed and polished, wet shore stones from an area with rare melange geology few others except geologists seem to be aware of. Worked 14 subjects over a few hours, one of which is this downsized for web version with the original 6150 by 4100 pixels. Have post processed 3 images thus far with the last because of focus stack blending, taking about 4 hours of tedious work. Was almost done HTML coding for web upload for my other road trips but now, that won't happen till next week. Am excited about this weekend's live music.

I rarely see other serious photographers out in places I visit. Most people living in the state know little about its world class natural areas and rather moved here because of the abundance of high paying jobs, the climate, and from what they saw from Hollywood. Thus, are vast numbers that rarely ever leave the large coastal urban zones.

If you don't mind me asking, what is HD??

Today was a wonderful, albeit long day. We left at 4:20 a.m. to pick up our party and head down to Atlantic City for my granddaughter's graduation. In tow her mother (my Honorary Daughter), her brother, her half sister and her other grandmother. We got there in time to stop at a Dunkin, swing by and pick up the tickets while GD was getting ready and line up before the doors were supposed to open at 8:00. It was a bit chilly outside but they didn't let us in until about 8:20.

The commencement speeches were truly profound, yet simple. They were actually enjoyable and the President of the college was downright funny! He did his interpretation of My Way, with words changed to describe the college experience there. He had everyone cracking up with that and the last story he told. Even the valedictorian gave an excellent speech. The hype woman who pumped up the energy in the large hall before the procession, gave our graduate a shout out. A high school band drumline, whose name I can remember,, sounded so good. It took me back to the days when I used to love to see and hear our high school band at games and parades.

After the ceremony, everyone descended on the boardwalk (as was suggested) to take pictures. Our group, plus a few of GD's friends too quite a few. I don't have all of them yet. I didn't even have to bother pulling out my phone because the photos will be texted to me. I love what GD's cap says. Many of the other students also got creative when designing their caps. The valedictorian's was really cute. The commencement is available on YouTube.

After our time on the boardwalk, we went to Applebee's for lunch. Another of her friends arrived before us and reserved our table which was ready as soon as we walked through the door. After lunch, a quick stop at Wawa's. I was tired because I got less than two hours sleep, so I slept most of the way home. When I got here, I emptied and cleaned Deja's litterbox immediately, so my son could take that out with the rest of thee garbage before heading down to North Carolina.

Her cap says "Too cute to fail".

Officially a graduate!
