Happy New Year to all my friends here!

A new year for me always means a new start to change things that need to be changed. Working on projects on my to do list that I never got around to. I keep a journal and I like to read what I wrote a year ago and what I had success on. Sometimes I find I intended to do something that I really did not need to do after all. So off my list it goes!

This is my year of positively improving to make my life better and happier. So today, regardless of the weather, when I take my garbage out to the dumpster I intend to walk at least 15 minutes. Keeping track of the time, not how far.
That is awesome!!!! Enjoy your walk. A good attitude is a great start for a happy life! 💖

What'd I say yesterday? Did I say DSIL has the day off except that it's a holiday and he'd only be off until somebody called out sick? Did I say that? Hm? Did I?

And...he let his assistant manager have Christmas off so that he (DSIL) could have today off. Right? So who's sick? The assistant manager? I mean, if somebody called out, it would be the assistant's problem, right?

Geez.
Not a good start to the new year, my friend! 😁😂

1704122814394.jpeg I am hoping that my health stays good enough to stay involved in life. If so, I have plans to learn more about our world. I am also interested in how AI is creeping into our society, and it's vast implications. I have some trepidation about the immediate future, due to climate change, increasing poverty, and social justice.

Did the Walmarting. The parking lot was practically empty, and the store was squeaky clean and neat. The usual crowd must have stayed up to ring in the new year so there wasn't time for the store to get messy after the night crew cleaned it up. It was almost pleasant to be in there when it was so quiet. So glad that's out of the way for another couple of weeks.

DD asked DSIL who's too sick to work today. He said, "I don't want to talk about it." Funny but not funny, KWIM? Since he has to go to work at 4, we're having an early dinner at 2.

I'd forgotten about the Rose Parade until I read @packleader's post. It's on now and so pretty!

Wow, it's nice to see these updates, from so many of you , in your posts of thoughts, hopes, greetings etc,
already when it is only halfway thru the first day of 2024!😀

I'm up and doing a few little things of the type that make me feel more human, when I do them, and less human when I don't. 😁

Also helped DH a little, today. It is amazing that he and i lived thru the medical emergencies of the past several months, and are both still here! Sure can't take that for granted, and I don't!

Trying to ward off depression I bought an avalanche pizza from an independent local pizza place for me and the guys. It had tons of stuff on it and extra cheese. Then we baked chocolate chip cookies. It was a nice evening. My usual resolution is simply persevere and do your best. And try to get enough sleep.

Happy New Year everyone!

135th Annual Rose Parade in Pasadena -- a few last pictures taken off the TV right now
Much street dancing, singing, bands, and whatever you can imagine
After the Ringling Brothers Circus motto, this is the greatest show on earth (or something like that)
I believe the parade route is about 5 1/2 miles long, mostly on the Colorado Boulevard
Afterwards, the floats can be viewed close-up for three days (it used to be free, but now they want an entrance fee)

This year's parade has only 40 floats and 21 marching bands, etc. Is participation getting too expensive?
When our children were still young and we saw the floats the next day, viewing was free; now they want $20.
