How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

I got up at 8 this morning. Eight! That is the latest I've slept in I don't know when!
The rest of the day was spent killing time waiting for service on my car. They said four hours so we went to breakfast and shopped but it turned into much longer so we wished we'd just gone home.
If DH is going to waste time he'd prefer to do it at home watching Skywalker Ranch or something similar. 🙂

Last night we had a storm followed by a three hour power outage. At least it cooled things off a bit. It had hit 100 the day before breaking all records. I sat in the car charging my phone but it was a slow process.
The power came back on at 11:30 which meant I missed all prime time TV. Probably a good thing.

Today a housemate brought his sister's French bulldog here for an extended stay. I agreed to the arrangement and hope I won't be sorry.
Glad you got power back relatively quickly. I hope the dog behaves.

Took younger daughter back to the airport and miraculously everything ran on time, so it's back to 'normality' for a while in the Lightning household. Time to restock the 'wine cellar' and lay in some more food. Both daughters are tall and slim, but they could 'eat for Britain' - life just isn't fair for some of us.

Weather looks OK today, so it's a bit of work in the garden.

Finally feeling totally recoverd from this bout of Covid. And I must say - it's had a psoitive effect on me. I've had a cloud of anxiety hanging over my head since my 2020 near-death experience with it that even professional help couldn't shift. A big cloud of "What if I get it again?" Now I've had it again, and it wasn't that bad. I feel I can finally move on.

So - despite a horrendous soggy weather forecast - I'm grabbing my camera and heading to Rawtenstall and Bury for the East Lancs Railway Summer Diesel Gala. :D

Indoors again today!!

Overnight rain and heavy at times, but the last downpour appears to have moved through. 68 F now, high expected 83 F so as it warms things will probably feel stifling out there. Flood warnings in the area but mostly South of me and back West from there. I guess they got it worse down there over night.

All to say... probably another mostly-indoors chores day. So I'll bop in and out today and like @hawkdon be glad to be here with you.

I woke up at 6am looked out my bedrm window, pouring rain. When the rain lets up,I'll try to go outside for fresh air& walk, hate being inside .In the mean time, I walked the long hallway to the trash area and back to my apt
It boggles my mind,I've been living here at Gates for exactly 1 month, have no idea where the time has gone, its been everything I thought it would be with very friendly people& staff
Yesterday when I came back to the old apt building, I sat in our lovely garden for about an hour, talked with a couple residents. One of them Chuck{ he&his wife live in Fla during winter} asked 'Why did you leave?' I told him'I hated living here{36yrs}, time for a change, wanted to be in a more secure place, everything is taken care of'
If it keeps raining, I'll lie on my new sofa& read my book

It sounds so nice! I like reading about your move and life there.

Drama Alert !!!

I've just been in the garden , and decided to spray myself with the new Piz BUin SPF 30 I bought from Amazon the other day. Doesn't work, Spray nozzle is completely Jammed. So I came in and contacted customer services because this item is not liable to be returned.. so I had to talk to an advisor, the Bot couldn't help me. So far a lot of faff for a broken £6.00 item

Then CS says.. you need to upload a photo, so I said how is a photo going to show you the nozzle doesn't work... well them's the rules she said ( not exactly like that )... but you can't upload them to me, you will be sent an email and you will have to upload it to that, and then when we've looked at the item we'll decide if a refund is due.

The email comes immediately.. and this is what it says...

I'm sorry to hear your Piz Buin Tan and Protect Tan Accelerating Oil Spray SPF 30 High, 150ml arrived damaged.

Since this item is classified as nonreturnable, we require photo evidence of the item's condition before we issue a refund or create a replacement order.

:oops::oops:

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear your Piz Buin Tan and Protect Tan Accelerating Oil Spray SPF 30 High, 150ml arrived damaged.

However, the photo you provided is invalid. No visible damaged on the item.

I was furious now..spitting bricks.. I said that in the first email... how could they tell a nozzle was jammed from a photo..?.. so I grabbed the phone and demanded to speak to a customer service person in real time... so they connected me to a woman in India, who has refunded my money....but what the heck is all that about ?

I had to take photos, write a note, send emails, speak to a bot and a customer service person.. then have to speak to someone in India.. for a £6 Defective item.

I told CS I ill never buy another spray nozzle item from Amazon because of this nonsense.
