Well it seems that I didn't poison myself with the fresh sliced mushrooms that were cheap as a "manager's special." I washed them and sautéed them in butter with thinly-sliced onion and even cooking them down I have quite a bit of it. At least I feel safer about a second meal using them now! :ROFLMAO:

Does anyone else sometimes have foods that feel a little dicey?

Not dicey like a concern if mushrooms are poisonous, but definitely dicey as in regularly ignoring "best by" dates. I have yet to suffer any negative consequences.

I see there's a low forming off the Carolina coast. We'll see what happens with that! 🤔

Today we drove up to Kendal and FINALLY put a deposit down on the two new leather sofas we want. The old ones have lasted us well - for about 25 years :) We also had lunch in one of our fave cafes there. And of course - I took a camera and did some street photography. After that we picked up Likke Grandson from Nursery and took him home to his Mummy :love:
 
Back from DD's. Their new house is a good size for a family and in great condition. However, she had their HVAC person there at the new house this morning for a check and maintenance visit.
The AC stopped working and they couldn't get it going. Daughter repeated that it was working when they arrived. She is dealing with that right now and let's hope they resolve it soon ! 😕
The munchkins were happy to have Grandma stay over. No-one does anymore since they moved up here. 😊
It will be nice when they are settled. It happens to be a busy work travel time for SIL so she is handling it all.

It wasn't a day to be playing in the dirt and the next few days won't be, either. But...I did get the laundry done. It's even been folded/hung up and put away. And I did a little spot cleaning of the carpet. And vacuumed. Don't ask about dusting...

Tomorrow might be a big day. There are dishes to wash. Jussayin'
 
Today I got my date for my Operation which will be the middle of October. They're doing it as in -patient , and all going well I'll be in for just 2 days. However I won't be able to drive so DD will come down, and collect me from the hospital when I get discharged

prior to being admitted I will have to ensure I have the house spotless, and the shopping all done because I won't be able to drive, or do any housework for a while... and DD can't help because she lives 2 hours away and works full time..

Been trying to get hold of the Estate agent of the flat I'm supposed to be looking at in west London on Saturday, and I can't seem to get any reply from them. They're leaving it very late to give me an exact address and a time for viewing.. :unsure:

I had to have the central heating on for an hour tonight, the first time since last winter. It really got quite chilly all of a sudden, despite me wearing jogging pants and a wool cardi... so I had to put it on. Fortunately for my finances the house is well insulated so it only takes a short time to feel very warm...


Finally pinned the plasterer down who is still to make good my kitchen wall. It's not one plasterer it's a company and they've had real probs with the 2 plasterers they employ, one had to have emergency sick leave.. and then the other electrocuted himself last week.. however they've got someone else, and he will be coming at the start of next week..
 
@hollydolly Will your DD stay with you for a few days at least? Do you have a plan about how to get up and down the stairs? Are you able to get groceries delivered? Eeek! Now I'm gonna worry about you.

You're supposed to look at the flat on Saturday but they haven't been in touch? Tomorrow is Friday!

The plasterer electrocuted himself? Seriously? Is he alive?
 
We are surrounded by 3 wildfires that have burnt already over 110,000 acres and many houses. Here is a view of the Airport Fire as seen from Lake Elsinore (picture copied from TV.) Right picture: Smoke from the fires covers much of the sky. My grandson loves our new reclining rocking chair from where he is watching his favorite TV cartoons.

Our neighbor graded a road next to our fence and damaged it. Now he is repairing the damage. My pups don't like it and bark non-stop.

LOL...you make me laugh ... all the Drama coming from me today....:ROFLMAO:

No..DD cannot stay, she has to work.. so I will be on my own recovering. yes I can have groceries delivered, but I won't because I'd still have to lift them into the house, and put them away.. so it's best I just ensure the cupboards and fridge and freezers are stocked up. I've not got to lift anything heavier than a bag of sugar for some weeks..

As of yet I have no plan about negotiating the stairs...

I have no idea about the plasterer , but I suspect he's fine because they were making light of it to me in their office.. but he is off sick

Nope no-one's been in touch about the flat. I've been expecting the info all this week, I was supposed to get the info after the owners returned from holiday on the 7th but nothing .. and so I mailed them myself this morning because Saturdays' almost upon us . no reply... 🤷‍♀️

i got a text yesterday morning to book the flu jab... not sure if I'll do it, I haven't so far, I'm more interested in getting the Pneumonia Vaccination because I've had pneumonia twice now...but I have to pay £50 for that !
