How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

Broke a temperature record here today. 83F on October 25🙀
I watered everything today. My hydrangea still has flowers coming but it was drooping. DH's peppers, tomatoes, arugula, and beans are still going so need water. The mums of course need water. They have lots of blooms.
The temperatures have been wonderful!
I need to get out and rake tomorrow.
Had to go to Urgent Care. DH caught my highly contagious pink eye. 😵

Other things: I've finished recrocheting the parts of my afghan that needed color replacement. Now the tricky part... putting three sections back together. A matter of figuring it out so it looks seamless. It's been work but I'll feel much better about it.
The bathroom remodel is at the end. New towel racks have been added and next will be putting up a picture, painting the door and adding new hinges and door knob.
I told DH I'm moving in there. It's the nicest room in the house. 😊
My next project is reworking window swags into four small window wreaths. The box woods in front have grown so much that you really can't see the swags.

I wound up Swiffer-ing in the middle of the night while trying to find Deja's remote control car. How does so much dust accumulate under things so fast?! Somehow, that led me to trying on shoes and seeing what cushions I could use in the ones that are a little to big and slipping. I started to check all my shoes and polish those needed, but decided to wait until another day because I anticipated a busy morning.

I went to the supermarket shortly after nine to pick up a few items. After I put the food away I cleared the dining table of clutter (mostly junk mail and election stuff) and loaded the dishwasher before the rotor rooter man was scheduled to come. This one did a thorough job. The one last week, not so much, which is why management had to call again so soon. Sudsy water was backing up into my kitchen sink. It's a problem I've had intermittently since I moved in 53 years ago. Hopefully, I'm good now for 18 months or more, like the time before last.

Rest of the day, watched T.V. and took a nap until my BFF called. I just fed Deja and had dinner (a PBnJ). I had to put Deja in the bathroom so I could spend a little time here without her interfering. It's 8:35 and I just started the dishwasher. In a little while, I'll clean out the litter box and help my son gather up the garbage so he can set it on the curb.

No plans for today, but plenty to do. Our schoolkids have been off for the past fortnight for the 'tattie' holidays. This was traditionally a break to allow the children to help out with lifting the potato harvest. That of course is long gone and the harvesting is mechanised, but the name lives on.

Converting old churches into restaurants or pubs is quite common here as church attendance has dropped dramatically. Latest figures suggest only around 7 percent of the population attend church and most are of the older generation. The village church here is in danger of collapsing and is fenced off for safety. Part of the roof recently collapsed into the adjacent manse garden. The manse is up for sale too.

Been up since 2:30 because I have my book club today and I never can sleep before an event. Thus assuring I'll be tired before it starts.

I'm getting excited about voting! The opposition sent us a card listing all the people and issues we should vote for, it will be handy to take along and use in reverse. Those issues are usually a mind boggling mess of double negatives.

My eyes are open, and I've had coffee on the teeny, tiny patio. That doesn't mean I'm awake.

I discovered some dried cranberries yesterday (don't even remember buying them) so am going to make scones. I don't have an orange for zest and no orange rind in the spice cabinet but there's orange juice so I'm gonna use it to rehydrate the cranberries. Hope it works because the zest adds a nice flavor to the scones.

Then there's this to do and that to do and the other to do. This and that will probably get done; I dunno about the other ;).

The weathernerds are predicting another broken temp record today. There's still no rain in sight and looks like no amount of money can buy a raindrop in the next couple of weeks.

I gotta press on, folks. A lot to do and the days get shorter and shorter. BBL

Morning folks....slept okay last eve, no storms, did notice last
eve that all the street lites are OUT along my street, as far as the
eye can see, so I did my good deed and reported it online to the energy company.....my pains and aches are somewhat
bearable today it seems, hoorayyy......it is 45 deg out, only
gets to 65 today, no more rain for awhile. no specific big plans
for the day yet, just go with the flow....take care all folks!!! ;):coffee:

Okay, Invisipeeps. Scones baked. Now there's a sink full of dishes to wash.

I'm dressed and had a second cup of coffee and a scone. Where's @Mizmo? C'mon over. There are seven scones left. We'll have another cup of coffee, a scone and a chin wag.

@hearlady Was it comfy sleeping in the shower last night ;)?

There's a crapton of gardening to do. Why do I let this happen?

Expecting another record-breaking high temp today.

Maybe Karma will bite them when they go to sell and are no longer on the board. Weren’t you selling to someone who is already living in a smaller unit in your condo.
HI Jules, another resident, Bob who lives in the other building sold his small effiecency co opt apt. He& his partner are buying mine,I'll be giving them my keys. They are not on the board. Sue

It will be a busy day for us, we are up early preparing appetizers for our card game tonight. Later this morning we will be playing in our couples Saturday golf group and then off to a group luncheon. Then back home to get ready for our Hand & Foot card game this evening. It will be a long day but we enjoy socializing with friends and neighbors.

Oh geez...did I miss out on a scone.lethargic-tired.gif

I went back to bed after a busy night in the loo and just woke up ten minutes ago.
Guess I will have to settle for one of those donuts I have in the freezer.

Really not in mood for donut so maybe will toast a waffle and slather it with strawberry jam.
Nothing will replace your scones.
Have a good day

After hosting a grandkid three days in a row plus an Thurs-Fri overnight, I'm happy to have a day to catch up with other things.

Watched the incredibly exciting first game of the (Baseball) World Series yesterday evening. WoW!!! What a finish!!!

Will do some cooking, cleaning and maybe a little grocery shopping today, then watch Game 2 late this afternoon.
