When I moved to NY, in an isolated environment, we had no mice.

I am sure they were in the barn when I raised livestock, but not in my home- then a friend talked me into starting a mulch pile of all of my wet kitchen food garbage-vegs, bones, etc etc, and then I got mice. But my cats caught them.

I started a system to keep them away, after my cats died.

I put all dry goods into thick plastic totes. I use Peppermint spray around my floor boards, but the best thing I did was buy 4 of those battery operated mice deterents with a high pitch squeal I can't here, and red, green and white lights.

I think they were 50 bucks each and take c batteries every 3 months, but that, for me, was a great investment.

And as winter approaches I put Tomcat chunks outside of my home, protected from rain or snow.

I noticed the other day that the chunks have not been eaten at all, and I feel I have stopped mice from coming in.

I got the Tomcat ,peppermint spray, and the battery operated deterrents all at amazon, because food is too expensive to waste.

Today I have my annual appointment with the manager for the re-certification of my apartment and sign the new lease. Normally, it goes up a few bucks. Since we now have new owners, I hope it is will still be just a few bucks. I have a feeling it will be less paperwork and a quicker process. Our old owners would need all kinds of paperwork. Even bank statements, anything in your name and current to the month of Social Security statements. It was a horrible process especially when you figure everyone here is low income. Didn't do anything to increase our incomes in the past year. I am looking forward to reading every word of the new lease.

It's an overcast day..not cold..50 f...

I've just done some Ironing. My iron fell over in a dead faint at seeing me.. it thought I was dead..

I haven't had the Iron out in at least a year. I just don't buy anything that needs ironing since I've retired and now not having soon2bex shirts and jeans to iron.....but some things Have to be ironed.. and I bought some Cotton Boho shirts a while ago.. got them at a great price, and so I bought various colours... but of course they have to be ironed, so I've just been and slaved over the ironing board.

Got the vacc'ing done everywhere...

I have a meeting with a legal eagle , and they told me I have to bring 2 forms of identity. Passport/driving licence and utility bill..or a bank statement... I told them I can't bring a Utility bill because I don't get paper bills.. so would my credit card statement do ( I get the paper bills for those as well as online)... they said no they couldn't accept that. Anyone know why ?

If you were in the US, my guess would be that utility bills and bank statements are more directly linked to a social security number. Since you're not in the US, I can't even guess.

If you were in the US, my guess would be that utility bills and bank statements are more directly linked to a social security number. Since you're not in the US, I can't even guess.

I know, it's very strange. As you rightly guessed our NI numbers are not connected to our bills... and usually if places want 2 forms of identity, it'll be anything with a name and adrs.. utility bill, passport, driving licence..any bill that got a name and address on it... so I have no idea why they're insisting on a bank statement and no credit card statements.. it's very odd to me..

I've printed off the bank statement which has a minimum amount of money in it...

Despite receiving various statements electronically, you may be able to to your utility or bank's website and print out a statement. American companies have pdfs of statements available for printout.

Sunday afternoon I started to feel wretched: chills, muscle aches, gunky throat, and a fever. By yesterday I was at 102.8 and so weak I could barely get off the couch to go to the bathroom without feeling faint. DH, my nurse extraordinaire, has been keeping me supplied with tea, toast and soup.

Feeling a little better today, but still have a fever of 100.8, and my throat is so sore that it hurts on the outside as well as the inside. I freaking HATE being sick.

OTC Cold meds cause my pancreas to spasm or whatever that excruciatingly painful thing is that happens in my upper abdomen. Tried a new cold med last night with different ingredients and paid dearly for it - the pain woke me up out of a dead sleep. If the pain/spasms lasted longer than 30 minutes, we'd call the paramedics, but they subside almost as suddenly as they appear. Until they do, they're a bitch on wheels.

So I'll just have to tough this out. Can take an occasional ibuprofen, but that's about it.

Obviously, today will be another couch day.

the credit card statement has my name and address on it... I also offered other mail that I receive which has my name and address on but nope.. they have insisted on the Bank statement...

If your banks are like here, they check your ID carefully when you open a new account. You can get a CC anywhere. Maybe the legal eagles trust the work of banks.

Hi, boys and girls. I'm home. It's raining and chilly. I don't like raining and chilly because I can't go outside to play. And all the housekeeping chores got done yesterday so there's nothing to do.

Guess today will be a soup day, nap day, TV day, online solitaire day.

@Jules "trust the word of banks"? I don't! It's why I do my banking at a credit union.

No there not really like that here..in fact it's harder to get a credit card..because they check your credit rating where as just about anyone can open a bank account with just a name and address..

Ironing to me is like weeding. I dread it but when I start I enjoy it and start looking for more things to iron while I'm at it.
I wish I could get myself to feel that way about dusting.
We voted today then went to Lowe's (home improvement store). Their spring plants were out. I got some blue hosta bulbs, caladium bulbs, and some dianthus to replace some that didn't come back this year.
I moved some Mexican petunias to a good spot I found last year.
Oh, I can feel the vitamin D coursing through my blood.

oooooh I missed this...sorrrry Star.... I can imagine how you are feeling, there's not a lot worse than razors in your throat, you feel regardless of what's wrong you can cope if the throat wasn't feeling like it's been torn to ribbons..

This morning I didn't workout, but I did keep my appointment with the skin doctor. I've had to reschedule several times because of Dio's appointments, I finally got to go. This was my my first ever skin check. I did have a few minor issues, but they are very small and I will be able to treat them myself, with a prescription cream that I got.

I picked up a few items at Wal-Mart, then headed home. My fever is back, and I feel like !!!!! I've been napping almost the entire evening!

Oh no, you poor thing! Thank goodness your fever came down but your body is still fighting hard. You will need lots of sleep.
