Morning folks....up at 6 am...55deg f, up around 80f today and
NO rain, we need a dry out time....still feel half sick but what
the heck do I expect at this age !!!!No plans for the day yet
except to spoil myself...oh last eve I got ahold of covid test and
it came out negative so thats a good thing...sore throat has
eased up a bit yea.....okay more coffee and will catch u later on.... ;) :coffee: :p

Warm again today 25C / 77F which is a lot for this area. Working in the garden again and so far everything is looking good. We really like flowers and shrubs and enjoy visiting ornamental gardens, but at home we concentrate on fruit and vegetables. Here's a somewhat uninspired view of the garden - the summerhouse is all but hidden at the back left. The patch to this side of the polytunnel has this year's potatoes and the yellow flower to the right is last year's kale which I'm about to dig out.

I must trim round the edges.

So green!

I'm home. The store gave all the mother's a $5 off coupon. I used mine for ice cream (what else?), and with my discount paid a whopping 50 cents for a half gallon. Yay me and thanks Kroger.

The garden is calling my name. The iris need to be deadheaded. Darn. I wait a whole year, but they only last a few weeks.

Yup. Definitely green.

DD putting a cake away in my fridge: You haven't eaten these treats I got for you.
Me: You keep bringing me stuff, and there's way too much. I haven't had a chance to try them.
DD: They're just for snacks. I want you to try new things to see if you like them.

My take on that: I don't wanna try new things. I'm old and wanna eat my favorite old things.

Iris have been deadheaded. I started cutting back the azaleas that have already bloomed, but it got too warm in the sun so I gave it up for now.

Not a bad plan, if she meant spinach or something else healthy. A cake, maybe not. Maybe she wants you to put some meat on those bones.
Whaddaya mean something healthy? I'm old enough that I don't care about "healthy" food anymore (the cake is for Mother's Day tomorrow). And I don't care about putting meat on my bones, either, because then I'd have to buy new clothes...less money for flowers!

Wait. Wouldn't need new jeans because I kept all the sizes 6 and 8, one pair of dressy slacks and a blazer (size 8).

So now I'm gonna go fix chipped beef on toast. I add green peas to mine. The peas are a nod to "healthy";)

I'm surrounded by green and yellow here. Most farms are growing barley or oilseed rape. Rarely there are fields of flax which have a blue flower.View attachment 345437

Home - the village that time forgot.
all the oil seed rape in my local farms have died off now... and we look like your picture currently.. this was it last month...

next month will be haymaking...

It's 5.40pm.... Another glorious hot day today... high 70's.. no breeze.... high humidity as well ..

I took myself off to the Garden centre because the compost I ordered which was supposed to arrive today had been delayed, I got a text from Amazon this morning saying they had a problem with the delivery and it should be here by the 13, I needed it this weekend, because it's going to rain next week and I need to get the rest of those plants in..so I had to go and buy some and I could only get 20 litres because I couldn't lift heavier than that. I needed at least 100 litres, so I bought 2 bags of 20.. litres, and then my 100 litres will be delivered in a couple of days..

I drove to a canal Marina about 20 miles from here, and has a lovely pub right by it, so I thought Id get some pretty photos because I haven't been there since before Covid... just got there, and I realised I'd forgotten to take my phone... so no camera to take pics.. lol... oh well it was very busy so it would have been hard to get any pics without tons of people in them..

Good thing I don't use my phone to pay for things as most people seem to do now.. I'd have been stuck. I did go into the pub tho' and get a small diet coke cuz I was so hot.. but they charged £3.50 for this 1/3 of a pint of coke.. I won't be going back there...:D

Am behind on this thread because I'm just back from a 5 day RV trip to San Diego. The campground had pretty good internet so I was able to check in here now and then while enjoying my morning coffee.

Love SD anyway, but it has the added attraction of being home to my dearest friend. Had a lovely, lovely time! Hope all of you are doing well.

I spent 1/2 an hour talking to my opposite neighbour as I left the house to go out. He's an active 80.. ex police officer.. and was cutting his hedge, and he asked how things were going.. and I told him the situation with regard the cost of the divorce lawyers.. he was not only astonished but angry that it costs so much meaning many people are stuck in abusive marriage because of cost..

A few years ago they brought in a 'no faults divorce'' which pretty much meant that as long as you are prepared to walk away with nothing, you can get divorced for £500.... but if you need representation to ensure you get what is rightly yours.. ..then it's very expensive.. even if you're the victim in the whole thing...

I had breakfast at a place once in San Diego! Remember nothing.
Long time ago, bunch of us visiting LA, drove down to Tijuana and stopped in SD.

Glad you had an enjoyable time.

Amazon just delivered two hanging solar lights for the garden. One is maple leaves (because, yanno, Canucks--French Canadian--we were called "Frogs") and the other is butterflies. If I ever find frog solar lights, I'll get 'em. They're already hanging in the garden soaking up sun so they can shine tonight. I won't get to see them until I get up in the night to visit the loo🚽

ETA: Yes, there are frog solar lights, but they're ugly. I'm looking for cute.

Did you say, you are adding green peas to top of cake? :rolleyes:o_O

I see what you mean, don't bother to try to eat healthy, then!
:giggle:😅☺️😁
