If you suffer from HSD--horizontal surface disease--it won't take long to clutter it back up ;) HSD seems to be a problem of mine. Or maybe not mine. Maybe there are gremlins who come in the night and clutter up the countertops, top of the bookshelves, etc...
I also suffer from that illness, but usually only in one spot: my desk. I clear everything, resolving firmly to keep it clear, but within two days it looks like it did before I started. DH likewise has a single clutter spot: top of the bedroom armoire.

Glad to know there's a medical name for our condition.

didn't Gigi say she was 19 ?
Ah - so a kid. Nevertheless, she should be career-building in one way or another, even if that's limited to learning how to be dependable, on time, cooperative, and a team player who doesn't shirk tasks she doesn't particularly like.

Her GM's powerful position seems ultimately detrimental to this young woman.

@StarSong Cookie is 18. Newer hire is 19. They both just graduated. I sincerely hope that Cookie isn't college-bound because she has no earthly idea how to manage her time or how to prioritize, which would put her in a world of hurt in college! Her twin works full time at the store and finished high school early but actually participated in the graduation ceremonies a couple of weeks ago. Twin is already in college, started last winter when she finished high school classes. Cookie is nice, cute, etc., but obviously not one bit motivated. G'mother? I dunno. Maybe she figures that if the twin can do all that, then Cookie can, too?

It apparently has not occurred to Cookie that when she's a no-show or simply doesn't bother to do her job, it puts a strain on the rest of us. Or maybe she just doesn't give a rat's rear. Oh...and the little darling doesn't do weekends, so once she left on Friday (without finishing her work or cleaning up after herself), she was off Saturday, Sunday and it looks like yesterday, too, and is scheduled off today. A four-day weekend. She's another one (we've had a few!) who looks at a schedule like it's just a suggestion in case it interferes with her social life. Yanno, c'mon in if it's not too much trouble...

So I decided to blow leaves after all. Could have saved myself the trouble because no sooner done than a big gust of wind came along and blew more leaves off the river birch. Grrrr. In June every year, the river birch loses leaves at an amazing clip but somehow never looks bare or anything. It lasts about a month and drives me right around the bend. Maybe it's worse this year because it's been so dry for so long. In any case, I hope it's done soon because the mess is...a mess!

Can you believe this..I really don't know why I'm surprised. I just called my Doctors' surgery ( office ) to arrange a letter of confirmation of my medical conditions. Numero Uno is the OA of which the most recent intervention was the double steroid injections in my knees...but there are other issues as well...one of which I'm awaiting surgery this year...

It took me 2 days of calling to finally get through to the surgery, so I finally got through and the receptionist said there is No history of the osteoarthritis in my records... not even that I'd had the steroid injections as recently as December..

....so, normally with my Doctors'surgery and most in the UK now, unless your case is urgent you have to wait about 3 weeks for an appointment...

... or if if you do get it sooner you get the runt doctor with the bedside manner of a spud.. but this receptionist has got me an appointment for this coming Friday with the best Doctor in the practice..so that fabulous news.. but how can they not have any record of my OA..when in fact as well as the cortisone injections.. I have had physiotherapy..much of it private , but I've always informed my NHS doctor... for about 12 years now.. ..and it was the NHS doctor who was instrumental in ordering those steroid injections..at the hospital.. yet it's never been added to my patient records..

I really, really hate what this NHS has become... :(

As it has happened as sometimes these things co-incidentally do..I had a call from my optician this morning.. telling me I needed a new eye test..so they've booked that for Friday as well.. so I have to be in one town mid-morning .. then 2 towns away for the eyes at 11.45am

..and tomorrow I have to be at the physio at 1pm......so I go months without seeing anyone remotely medical , and then get all in one week..:D

@hawkdon My aunt got Meals on Wheels for few weeks when she broke her ankle. She said the food was good but complained that there was way too much of it! LOL Her meal was a meal plus enough for the next meal.
the opposite here. My ex husband, my DD's father... lives very local to me, and he's very poorly, can't get out of his 3rd floor flat.. so as proud and independent as he is , he had little option but to try meals on wheels.... he couldn't eat them . He said they were foul. On paper , on their menus.. it all looks and sounds delicious, good hearty meals.. the reality is quite different..

Still, I'm sure there's many people who like that kind of thing or eat them because they have no other option ... but really they're pretty poor .. I do hope yours are much better @hawkdon

Your surgery does not have the NHS app which would enable you to message your GP/Surgery to request the confirmation you need and also to check your GP Health record within the app? Actually, they may well have the app but not the knowledge. I know that sounds harsh but, I do know of several surgeries where they have the app but do not understand how to use it.

Saw the nurse practitioner this morning.
I've lost weight,,she put me on another diabetics mediation.

Will have swallowing 'test' once ins approves it.

This afternoon will be with hubby as he travels around looking for an old Craftsman ridding lawn mower.
He needs parts & of course they went out of business.

Hope everyone is staying cool?
You could try this if he can't find one. Our Craftsman is about a 1995.

I got adventurous and used a special epoxy to try to repair a crack in the concrete bird bath. Says 5-minute dry time. It's been more than five minutes, but I'm gonna err on the side of caution and give it a while longer. It also says for indoor use because it discolors. Sure hope it works because "my" birds need water to drink and to bathe. I don't think the birds will care if it gets discolored.

If ever you see a repair kit for anything that touts it as "easy to use," be suspicious. Easy in a pig's eye.

If it doesn't work just put a large round plant plate or tray in the bath.

yes I do have the portal but they have a lot of stuff not activated in that portal....

I've thought of that. If it doesn't work, I'll just use a deep base for a big pot. Heaven knows I've got a bunch of them. It's a last resort, though. I really want the birdbath to look like a bird bath.

ETA: By Jove! It appears to have worked. If the water is still in it in the morning, I'll be a happy camper :)

I know. Last resort. I have two that don't show at all but it would in my big cement one.
