I won't complain about my temps since they are not nearly as hot as you all are having. Hotter than usual for June though here in NY. We have been getting rain almost daily now.

This morning I have a grocery delivery coming. Then later the water delivery is scheduled to come. Squeezing in my laundry since I still have not gotten it done yet. Today for sure.

Maggiecat made me get up to feed her at 2:30. I did, then went back to bed. Getting up at 6:30 is to my liking!

Looks like we had a few sprinkles during the night. Today's forecast makes mention of torrential downpours. Unfortunately, they're expected south of the city. We're north of the city. However, the forecast also says our high temp will be 86. Maybe.

On my early walk around 6:15, I walked a block away to buy local paper, small bottle of OJ. There was breeze, temp was 64
This morning I'm taking the Gates van need to go to the bank{its too far for me to walk} go next door to Price Rite grocery store for a couple of items. When I'm done, I just call the front desk,# the driver will come pick me up. It's all part of the package of living here
I've invited my neighbor from Tudor PLaza, Janice for lunch, she was here end of April with Marcia when I saw my apt for the 1st time She will see what it looks like furnished I lived on same floor{3rd} as she does . I'll be interested to hear about the new resident who moved in couple weeks ago

It's nice and cool this morning, we took Goober for his walk early, and he loved running around in the woods and climbing trees!

I'm working on my coffee now. After breakfast we'll head to the gym and then we both are having some dental work done.

Surprisingly, I don't need to run any errands today!! Wow!

Almost too cool here for a change, especially by comparison with the last few days: 57 F this morning. Far less humid, but by now the new crop of skeeters has hatched. What should be ideal for getting things done outside thus has a bitter edge now. It's no fun being up on a ladder and swatting the biters away. Still, I'll take the good where I can get it. The break in the heat is welcome.

Today is starting with temp of 64 & ending with night time of 50.

Hubby's helper is a no show today,, wish helper would let us know ahead .
Could plan other things to get done.

Last night rain was steady enough to alert us to notice the drain pipe by house garage was plugged.

We put on rain coats & worked on unplugging the drain.
After getting a small bit fo water flowing , hubby used the garden hose to finish flushing it.

Big gob of old leaves came out.

By then the rain had stopped.
We celebrated getting the drain unplugged by burning a lot of trash.

@Georgia Granny,,Have you heard or saw a Mock Orange bush?

We had on we where I grew up.
My grandfather would fuss with in the Spring.

The blooms smelled like oranges .

Once we got this house redone, I stared to get plants to be similar to what we had at home.
One was Mock Orange bushes.
The nursery send 2 ,,, guess I needed 2 so they would grow?

I planted them apart around the yard.

As luck would have it the second one didn't grow .

I babied the other one, it got tall & branched out a lot.
I would get a few flowers on it.

Last year hubby unloaded wood ships near it for me.

NEAR! What ,,, they were in the center of IT!
I tried to get them out fearing they might smother it.

Lesson learned the bush liked the wood chips & had more flowers this year!

I should have taken a picture.

Yesterday was full of outdoor work, and a lot was accomplished along the lines I already posted. We're still trying to plan a way to do our needed, improved electric bear fencing in the most affordable way.

This morning, about 5:30am, I was awake but resting (no coffee yet). Sky was dim and it was pouring rain outside. I'd been aware of thunder for about an hour. Then there was one of those lightning bolts that was so closeby that the thunder was absolutely simultaneous, and sounded like a big bomb going off. Looking outside, though I haven't yet walked around very far yet, there didn't seem to be any trees on fire. Glad of that.

This is the second time in my life I've been that close to a lightning strike.

At the moment, the rain clouds seem to have moved off from overhead, though I can't say it's sunny.

Good day to you all.

@Sliverfox I'd never heard of Mock Orange so Googled it. Apparently, it'll grow here but...rabbits. I've already got plenty of rabbits eating everything else :ROFLMAO:

Just came in from the garden where it's hot hot hot. So far only 81 and overcast but with 70% humidity. When I started feeling a little, um, clammy? it seemed like a good idea to get inside in the a/c.

The rain? Sure. There's now a 24% chance, and that just means there's a 76% chance that there won't be rain:mad:

As much as I'm out there doing what I thought was thoroughly watering, when I dug up two pentas to move them, discovered that the dirt was only damp for about a half inch down.

Before going out, I started a load of laundry. Maybe it should get shifted to the dryer. That's how it gets dry, right?

@hawkdon I didn't want biscuits and sausage gravy today anyway. Really. Just don't skip me when you get inspired again, ok?

Well, let me throw in my tuppence.

This morning 6-7 walking with my pups. Then sleeping for an hour to recuperate from the exercise. Now I am scanning the Internet and Senior Forums. Holy cow! Voltaren works wonders for me, especially for the torn tendons and muscles in my left hip. And many of you are complaining about 100 degree heat ... we already had 119 degrees at our place three years ago. But my main chore for today is washing five loads in the washing machine, starting with dog bedding and ending with my white underwear, so my wife won't complain about having to clean the machine for her stuff. And around sunset, my usual evening walk that will put me solidly to sleep for 9 hours.

And my plans for tomorrow? As usual, walking at sunrise with my pups. Taking a shower. Driving to the Dump 20 miles away. Its much cheaper than letting the commercial trash haulers doing it. On the way home from the dump, doing some shopping. Early in the afternoon (still 50:50, depending on cleaning up the house for my daughter's homecoming) driving to the South Coast Botanic Gardens in Palos Verdes where they currently have a butterfly exhibit. They are my wife's special favorites SOAR - Tropical Butterflies - South Coast Botanic Garden Foundation It's one of the botanical gardens in the Los Angeles area Explore these 7 Southern California botanical gardens offering a bit of tranquility

Coming from Hong Kong for her summer vacations www.flightaware.com/live/flight/UAL802 on a13.5 hour flight, my older daughter will arrive at LAX tomorrow at 5:30 pm. We'll pick her up and drive home about 70 miles. My younger daughter, in the meantime, is celebrating her wedding anniversary with her family in Las Vegas at 112F degrees. OK, I will miss the evening walk with my pups, and that makes me feel guilty. They always start impatiently dancing by the door when I get ready for our walk. They love walking for the fun of it, while I do it primarily for health reasons.

My pups are always quite curious about other animals ......On my evening walk, I noticed a rocket blast off from Vandenberg Air Force Base; the date should read 6/23/2024, 21:00 hour. The ever so grateful Canna flowers in our garden come in three different colors: red, orange, and yellow. In the meantime, hawk
fledglings are begging for food with ear piercing screams somewhere invisible in out tall Eucalyptus trees.

Our Magnolia Tree is in full bloom; the flowers have a heavenly scent .....and my wife's magnificent roses come in many colors
