Are you flying there? How long will your travel time be? So envious - Spain is a wonderful place to visit.
Noo...not my home in Spain... Just going to the South Coast here for 5 days ... It's about a 3 and half hour drive... I have to say it's a horrible drive I'm not looking forward to it. the congestion is awful.. but ..

I have not had break ..any holiday at all since he left... so I'm desperate for a break away from here... I haven't had a staycation in this country for about 30 years , I usually go abroad twice a year...One is always Spain..it's my second home.

Next year..or maybe later on this year I will go to Spain.. all depends. I just need all this Divorce stuff to be done first

Had cancer treatment number three of six yesterday. It was on Friday rather than Thursday because of the holiday. Clinic was operating with a skeleton crew because so many employees were absent so they were nearly two hours late on my treatment. I'm half done with this process. Visit with doc in September to see how effective this has been.
Oh goodness as if the treatment isn't stressful enough without being made to wait 2 hours past your appointment. You've been a real trooper throughout all of this, and I hope that the next half won't be as gruelling as the first..

Well even after a whole day and night in the Barn the washing isn't even nearly dry.. so I've brought it indoors, and just hung it over any surface I can find. My Treadmill has dresses hanging from it...

The rain has stopped but it's Very Windy... the South coast beaches must be horrible today.. thank goodness I don't go for another day ...

Got everything packed now...and ready to go...
@hollydolly

Do you have a hair dryer you could use to help dry those clothes .. if they're already partially dry, maybe it
wouldn't take too long?

Hollydolly, hope you have a great time on the south coast and that the weather is good for you. You can bring us a stick of rock :love:.
When we lived there, it was easy to get to Europe by boat, but now we travel by plane 2 or 3 times a year. My parents always used the term 'holiday at home' and I gather this was a common expressing during WW 2 when people were unable to enjoy their usual summer breaks. Apparently it wasn't until 1979 that foreign holidays overtook 'staycations'.

yep that's true... I didn't start to go abroad until the early 80's.. incredible to think that was 40 years ago...

Not going near Gosport, or the Hampshire coast Capt..... going further down to Dorset...

Now of course if we holiday at home it's called a Staycation

I'll bring you back the Rock... :D

Nightmare woke me too early. Went back to sleep and woke with a worse one! Slept too late.

Opened my door to find a big, black snake on my steps near a flower pot! I'd never seen one in real life, except for a tiny garter snake. This one is about 2 feet and quite plump... oh gawd.

Called police about 45 minutes ago, but no one yet. I called them back about 15 mins ago was told they're busy. So, I wait. Terrified, like a big baby.

We had a terrific T-storm last night, really loud thunder. My son and DIL are in Maine and I'm feeding their cat. Homes in some areas lost power, but not mine and I hope not theirs. It may rain a bit more today.

Dang, I wish Animal Control would show up!

**** Oh, one cop just came with a long pole and tried to poke the snake into my shrubs. The thing just looked at him. I was at the window. Then he got it into the bushes. He said Animal Control was busy bringing in some dogs to a shelter in a bordering town. I guess it will finally go away..... into the woods where I walk Doggie. 😖

Your pic of the snake is interesting. I know some of the snakes we have around here. Have no idea what that one is, as I live in a different latitude/longitude and ecosystem. I'd suggest you try some googling for snakes common to your region. If you had poisonous snakes, I'm sure you'd have heard mention of them. The likelihood is that snake is harmless, and not at all interested in humans or in getting into your home

Happy Saturday, July 6th, to all!
(I'm often day/date disoriented after a holiday - does that happen to you?)

When my mother's doctor gave her quick mental acuity evaluations that included asking the day and date, she was sometimes off by several days. She'd shrug when answering, saying unless she specific arrangements for a particular date, she lost track of exact days and dates.

Mom's point makes more sense to me now. Even so, I don't want to slide down that hole of disorientation, so here I am, embracing part of the habit from earliest schooldays when all submitted work had to show our names, date, and classroom number in the upper left hand corner, lest the paper be marked down. Working world: everything was dated.

Aaannyyywaaay, now that I'm oriented, I know what today will bring: Toddler grandson early today through tomorrow late afternoon. DS & DDIL are doing some serious rearranging of their household, including who will be in which bedroom. Doing that with a nursing 4 month old will be distraction enough, adding a 2-1/2 year old to the equation will make their task that much harder.

Saw DD's family last night - had a great time with them, as always. ❤️
I recently had an annual wellness check. I knew they would do a cognitive test so I made sure I looked at the calendar for the correct date. I mean, since retirement I don't always automatically know the date. Anyway, they only asked me the year.

I hope very effective to the point you get a green light. 🤗

So, you woke from a nightmare to a nightmare?
It's a good thing that snakes take care of mice. A mouse in the house is a nightmare too! They make a mess.

I just got home from my son's house and picking up some grocery. I will be looking up that snake for sure. Thanks for the encouraging words. :)

@Lynn, I am hoping your treatment does the trick. Likely, it will. Keep us updated. 🌹

"Staycation" is a popular term here, too. Also "Home Beach".

@hollydolly If you go to Spain, will you take me along?

Wait. My passport is expired. Just take lots of pix if you go and post them.

Take lots of pix next week, too.

It's raining a little here. More than yesterday but still not enough to make much difference in our drought.
well I'm hoping to take pictures next week..you know me always take pictures if there's Day in the month lol... however the forecast is for very dull weather, and rain for 3 days of it... so they might not be very exiting pictures if at all...

If you want pictures of Spain I have hundreds.. probably thousands... :ROFLMAO:

Oh, @hearlady , I DO have a mouse! I put a tray of poison in the cabinet where I found "evidence" ugh, after emptying everything and washing. This was last night. I wonder if the snake somehow knew? Nahhh.
Of course! The snake was after that mouse. They know. They're predators.
Please don't let that give you nightmares. It's nature. He doesn't want you or to be in the house. He's waiting for the mouse to come out. Then you'll be rid of it. 😊

Your mention of pictures of Spain reminded me of something. In my teen years, I got involved in the folk-music scene. Meaning I'd go to clubs where even those of us under legal drinking age, could sit at tables and get a coffee, a snack, and listen to local & itinerant singer/players... until 10 or 11pm (then all the underagers would have to depart).

So I was hanging out with a bunch of kids interested in literature, art and philosophy of a wet-behind-the-ears sort. Very soon the Beatles' Sgt Pepper hit the scene (!). But prior to that a couple of the girls had introduced the rest of us to Miles Davis's Sketches of Spain. 🎺 Do you know that album? Very cool.😎
