How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

How is my day today? Hot.

I started out taking a substantial load of decaying willow branches, dragged & scraped from our pond's bottom, to a place on our land where we dispose of such, allowing it to gradually morph into composted organic matter. Then I mixed soil for the last bit of work in our greenhouse—there will still be tomatoes and cucumbers growing in there, but the new soil is an enriched mix for transferring out the last basil starts, each one in its own separate pot.

After that, I prepared for the last phase of the new (and much better) electric fencing we're putting up to keep bears out. That was completed with the help of a local guy, at about 3:00pm on a day that plateaued at 36*C (97*F). Truthfully, I hated working outdoors in this sort of heat 20 years ago, and when I had to I was continually slugging back cool water.

At least I feel good about things progressing rather than stagnating here. My best wishes to anyone reading this.

I have to admit I am so glad I don't have to keep bears out! 🐻

I'm in recovery today from my outing yesterday, my daughter and I were out shopping and my car died right in the middle of a busy street......long story short my son came to the rescue and pulled the car off the street, the fuel pump was out on it, it had to be towed to the dealership about 30 miles out, my car only has a little over 4000 miles on it, I read online that this is an ongoing problem with GMC Terraines....many lawsuits, anyway we were sat in the middle of the street with lights flashing nearly an hour before my son could get there....oh dealership said it was under warranty.

Typical meal check-in ...

Fixed the boy dog and myself a meal ... NOooo, that's not mine on the right

Mine: Three Cheese Chicken, Pasta and a medley of veggies
His: Pork, medley of veggies, grated mild cheddar and topped with chips of homemade beef jerky

I didn't realize how much you garden. Good for you. The junk you scraped from the pond; does it smell bad?

Had to do some banking, purchase some items at a drug store and once again go to a grocery store. If there’s a technical term for someone addicted to buying food, it applies to me.

Then spent 1.5 hours trying to get deal online with the drug store loyalty plan. I want to talk to a person. I’m seeing a variety of account numbers so I want to be assured that my account hasn’t been hacked.

Our tv viewing tonight was Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

...Hunnies I'm Hooome......and not a day too soon...

The weather is horrible today... after 2 days of blistering sun at the coast, it's cold dull and threatening to rain...., I can see my little tan is going to disappear in a heartbeat..

have you all been behaving ?.. I brought you all chocolate and Rock for @Capt Lightning

I have much to show & tell about my little trip.... and I'll get some photos up later.

this is a one of many photos I took at the Sub Tropical Gardens I visited yesterday....

The caravan was very very hot... unbearably hot.. no AC at all.. as they don't... and with 1000 vans on site it's too risky to sleep with the windows open...Yesterday afternoon around 5pm when I got back from being out, I opened the door and it was like a heat blast hit me... this was the temperature in the van

@Georgiagranny ...how are you dealing with no work this week...?.. Have they begged you to go back ?

I'll get pictures of the trip up later.. I tried to get as many as I could..however the first 2 days was a washout, literally...It stormed for the first 2 days..

thanks Kat... ☺️ I'm just sorting the photos... I honestly have got loads.. so when I get them organised I'll spread them out over days for those who like to look at them
The problem was that just in that few days..when usually in July we can pretty much guarantee sunshine and hot weather here in the South.. we've had terrible weather for July this year. So..I drove down there in torrential rain.. so bad that the congestion filled motorways were down to speeds of only 20mph... and there was accidents because people just couldn't see in the blinding rain.

It took me 5 hours to cover what should have been a 3 hour journey... it;s only 120 miles....In retrospect I'm glad I came back now...because they are closing huge swathes of the motorway tomorrow for the weekend... so it will be chaos...

So..the first 2 days it rained... and didn't dry up until later on the second day... the 3rd day was hot and sunny.. so I went to the beach that day.. and got burnt, because the forecast had said it would be only sunny until 11am.. but in fact it was hot all day..

All in all I had an eclectic time... . I visited the Port ( Pool Quay) which was 10 minutes from where I was staying.. and di some shopping there as well..

The following day I visited the beach an hour along the coast, which has a beautiful sea port... .. and the next day I visited some stunning Tropical gardens deep in the Dorset countryside, so beautiful it would take your breath away... bit like stepping back a hundred years..

So, I have quite a varied photo portfolio...from this trip...

here is the beach...

@hollydolly is back! Yay and woohoo and stuff. Sounds like your getaway was 50/50-ish?

I don't know whether they've tried to call me because I've blocked all the numbers:)

Yesterday we had a really cool morning and today's the same. It's only 66F. Gonna warm up quickly, though, so I have to get out there and continue with the never-ending weeding before it gets too hot to be outside. Our high temp today is supposed to be 95, and if they aren't lying again, tomorrow is supposed to be 100F. Ugh. There's no rain in sight before the middle of next week.

Up since 2:30 am, couldn't sleep, dozed a bit, walking around in a fog. Luckily, it's a rainy day so I'll just hang out here.

This getting up at two-ish has been happening alot lately, at least once a week if not more. Exhausted.

Had such a terrific day yesterday with son/grandson. Went to one of my favorite parks, and I did get drenched from water balloons, water guns and going through sprinklers. It was so sunny and hot my clothes dried almost immediately! Then, we came back to my apt. Louie & Gidget 🐈 🐈‍⬛ were most unfriendly. Louie hissed at my son; Gidget hissed at my grandson. They are on the second day of their strict diet so maybe that plays a part. Louie is getting way too big, too soon. Not even their first birthday yet.

Anyway son helped me with shopping, other stuff. Beautiful day, I had great day.

Wishing you the best possible day in the humid heat. Anyways, great that you got a picture of a fox. In the wild-dog-family, we've got coyotes here. I've only seen one fox in four decades. Except when I travelled way up to White Horse, NWT, where they're common.

you should be here.. we have many foxes... they are beautiful to look at here in the countryside.. but they go after the neighbours chickens etc... there are even more in the cities tho' and they are mangy old scavengers...

Earlier this morning it was a cool 60 something.
Asked Hubby to start the weed wacker, he must think its too warm already as he didn't start it for me.

Happened to look out back door & 2 turkey hens & some baby turkeys cleaning up the deer corn.
Thought I had heard them when I took Mac out, earlier.
Wondered then if they got under the blueberry netting?

My friend's new grand son was born yesterday morning, 20.5 inches long, bit over 6 pounds. 🥰
Not sure when she can come to pick blueberries.
Imagine the family is adjusting to a new born in the house.

Not being cheeky but is that a typo with your username or is it really 'Sliverfox' ?
