We are currently "leveraging knowledge based solutions."o_O:rolleyes:

I will remember this meeting when people ask why I am retiring as soon as possible.
HR-speak is everywhere in organizations now. So glad that I'm retired, I couldn't deal with the watchers watching watchers any more. It's cultural decline. We could never get men to the moon these days. Everything is paper pushing soap opera.

Boy that "fall" has just hit me today, very sore all over, hands
are mess of pain, body just plain aches everywhere....okay I know suck it up butter cup...on the other hand, that fox just
came out from the bushes to eat brkfast, some cookies, yes
I feed cookies to critters....sometime....
Sorry. I figured you were going to feel it. 😒 I look at it as the pain is there to make sure you don't forget to be careful. 🤗

Right, that's me done outside for today I think. I've just spent the last hour in the garden again. This time drilling holes for screws and hooks for new planters to hang on the trellises... also I had to drill into concrete to insert a hook strong enough to hang my retractable washing line.

Now that my tumble dryer has packed up, I need to hang the washing outside 'till I get a new dryer, and before whenever I used the line to hang duvet and pillows etc, I had the hook firmly in the tree.. but I had the tree chopped down last summer , so it had to be the fence today.. and also I had to drill holes in the new planters and troughs to ensure drainage.. but oh boy that's really hot out there.. 😰 😰 😰

4.20pm ....Another cold drink... and then I definitely will go and get my shower... then later I have to batch cook and freeze chicken and minced beef.... and batch freeze a dozen cheese scones

Some birds I observed this morning on my walk with the dogs.

The only shot I got of a hawk between landing and being chased away by an agile mockingbird, sort of dive-bombing the hawk.
I also saw a mockingbird picking the tail end of a cat, causing the cat to flip over backwards without realizing what happened to it.

I caught a mockingbird in the act of singing. They get so carried away that they hop 2 - 3 feet into the air and, upon landing, they continue
singing. Mockingbirds are perhaps the happiest birds on earth. I picked up a fledgling and nourished it with mealy worms from a pet store
till the baby was able to fly properly. The first evening, it came back to our window to spend the last night with us, but then it bid
farewell. When I now hear mockingbirds singing, then I always imagine that it is my "Charlie."

Are you able to imagine a world without pigeons and crows?

Of course, we also met three dozen dogs who told us in no uncertain terms to "move on." And a dozen rabbits obviously thought they
own the dirt road and almost run us over. One neighbor has more roosters than hens, and the roosters create an ear deafening concert.
Another neighbor has two very sweet sheep that were eager to rub noses with my dogs. My walks are never boring. Our neighborhood
is full of life, not to mention gossiping with some neighbors.

Sooo hot here..only 91 deg..... but the British heat is very humid... so altho' it's sunny.. it's absolutely torturous.

I've just been mowing the back lawn... and opening some parcels in the garden... twice I had to come in during the mowing to dry myself off , just so sweating... 😰😰

I'm now sitting in front of the fan.. with an ice cold orangeade... then I'll jump in the shower...
No! Think of your knees!! Go gently into the shower ... :) ;)

Back from my walk to the grocery store by 9:10. It’s been too hot for the past couple of weeks to do my normal walks. I tried to comb out my hair, stuck a hat on and set out with my trolley. No lallygagging in the store. Grabbed the milk, etc and headed home.

Now I’m sitting down having my coffee.

@packleader, I love watching the birds in our 'hood, too. In addition to others, a canary or parakeet that evidently escaped captivity, about 10 hummingbirds, and numerous huge crows spend a lot of time in our yard or doing fly-bys.

When the pool is uncovered, dragonflies zip about 8" over the surface, then dip down to grab a drink without slowing their flight plan.

Nature is remarkably beautiful.

🤷‍♀️A brand new How was your day thread for 2024... Please continue to post on the 2023 Thread until tomorrow.. :D
Well, my days haven't gone so well since dropping my phone in the toilet. I tired to get it fixed or get a new one yesterday and that didn't go so well, because the young gal in charge was having a bad day and her computer went down. I am on my daughter's phone service and my phone tells me the bill wasn't paid. That is highly unusual and I am concerned but can't call her.

My client is waiting for a phone call and I can't call her with my phone. I think I will see if I can find a neighbor at home and if I can use her phone to call my client. 🤷‍♀️

Somebody tell me why I keep letting myself get conned into going along when DD and DGD say they're "just going to Publix."

I asked if we could stop by Lowe's so I could pick up some 30% vinegar (it's a weed killer that'll keep anything from ever growing again in the spot where it's sprayed). Sure. We could run by. They waited in the car. Took maybe 10 minutes, max.

Then DGD asked if we could stop at Dollar Tree. Sure. They browsed for heaven knows how long. I bought four bars of Pears bath soap. When I'm down to three or four bars, I buy again to store it because the longer it's stored, the longer it lasts. A bar lasts me about two months (no kidding!) so by the time I break open the first of the newest ones, it will have been stored 6-8 months.

They finally finished browsing. Off to Publix. Geez! Make a damn list! We got home at noon. What's the big deal? We left at 9. Lowe's is farthest away at about five miles. Dollar Tree and Publix? Two miles. Three hours to do about an hour's worth of shopping. Three. Freaking. Hours. that I'll never get back.

At my age, I don't have three hours to waste. Next time I'm even tempted to go along with the two of them, somebody slap me upside the head. Chihuahua! I could have been home cleaning kitchen cabinets :ROFLMAO:

Now. Lemme tell ya about my discovery. I've been seeing Starbucks 40 oz vanilla latte in the refrigerator case in stores. $6.99 at Publix. Mmmm...should I? DD said to give it a try because if it's not like from the drive-thru at Starbucks, I just won't buy it again.

This stuff is GR8! The bottle says three servings. I usually can't finish the small one from the drive-thru, so maybe four or five servings for me. Worth it to save me the trouble of making my own iced coffee at home on the rare occasions when I bother.

More rain might happen this afternoon. It's still overcast and only 80F at 1pm.

Oh...one more thing: There was a sign at the Dollar Tree entrance "Now Hiring." I was tempted until I remembered the upcoming cataract surgery. Mid-September maybe if it's not too late to start there before Christmas? I wouldn't want to be a cashier, but stocking shelves and stuff? Sure.

ETA: About going shopping with DD and DGD. It's not like this is the first time it's happened. I should know better and not believe that they're just going to "run in and run out" like I did at Lowe's. SMH!🙄

Yesterday the pharmacy called and said my thyroid medicine was ready. Must be some mistake. I don't have a problem with my thyroid. Later my primary doctor called and said my recent bloodwork showed an underactive thyroid. I picked up the prescription and was told to take it in the morning on an empty stomach. I looked up the side effects and the list of meds that it interferes with. One of them I take daily, in the morning on an empty stomach. Looks like trouble. We shall see.

Some people carry their meds in their pocket in a little container. I will need bushel basket.

this is one of the many reasons I never gave up my landline... so I have a phone as a back -up if anything happens to my Iphone

Well it's almost 8pm...I got all the food cooked, and chilled down, and packed into containers and they're in the fridge now, just getting as cold as poss before I freeze them..

Got all the chicken portioned , bagged and frozen.. and all the scones, bread and rolls..Ditto... so with all the work in the back garden today, mowing, then drilling, and creating new places for planters.. taking delivery of some big parcels, and getting them open and put away... gave the driver an iced bottle of water he looked complete dehydrated... and then the cooking... ... and with my busy day yesterday at the hospital , and then bulk shopping for groceries... then mowing and cutting hedges when I got back, and all in the hottest 2 days of the year..I kinda feel I need a rest... 😇

Sometimes I have to remind myself that I'm 70 next birthday.. 🤪

I'm concerned why your doc prescribed a med that interferes with one of your other ones. Will you be asking about that?

Today I worked outside until noon, temp was creeping up to 32*C (90*F). True, forecasts say today won't get as hot as the past few days, but it's hot enough that I dislike working outdoors past 11am or noon anymore.

I was putting finishing touches on our new fencing. Now I'll make myself useful indoors for some hours, and also check in once & a while here to see what's happening on SF. I'm also responsible for supper this evening, so I plan to make enough pizza for the two of us to have it for tonight & tomorrow.

Well, looks like this Friday will not be so quiet after all for the third straight day. Such an advantage for a senior to live here in the San Francisco Bay area as there is so much happening one merely needs to check online about.

There is a Fleetwood Mac tribute band playing a 6pm>8pm outdoor concert on downtown streets about a half hour drive north. After seeing the unfamiliar band name, found this Youtube promotional video that shows they are excellent. So in another 4 hours will drive the 26 miles north for more music and dancing fun. Forecast shows 80F at a shady 6pm and 73F at 8pm so pleasant.

So after tonight will finally quiet down again as I exercise and prep gear for next midweek out several days base camp backpacking in a remote area with bro J in the cool, green, flowery High Sierra where will bring lots of food, my a6700, some Bose speakers, and fishing gear.

I have left a message for him. From what I have read it often just requires a stronger dose of thyroid med. The recording says they will get back to me by the end of the day. Hope so since they are off on the weekend.
