Our June was exactly like that. Very hot and dry.
July has been wet and humid but the last couple of days have been very nice!
see our July has been the same.. more like a November.. mostly overcast.... but apparently we're set for some Hot summer weather at last except it's gonna be too hot...

Went to bed last night knowing that the village to the north of us (not many kilometers or miles north) has been issued an evacuation order (due to wildfire). We've been assembling essential things to load into our little car and our pickup truck for evacuation, if the fire comes closer. In the event, the local authorities would issue an evacuation order for neighborhoods like ours.

At the same time, we prepare meals, pick the ripe berries, stay in touch with friends, and maintain normal life here as much as possible.

We welcome and appreciate any prayers, compassionate vibes, and the like — that people are willing to send this way, for our friends, neighbors, and our homesites.🙏
Here in northern NM we have to be alert for them too. The state has a website that gives updated info, and there's a state wide Emergency alert texting system (end of June it was used for flash flooding). Also firefighters often at motel (sometimes two crews use same rooms so one crew sleeping while other at the fire) DD manages and they'd alert her too.

In 12 yrs we've had some summers with more smoke coming over mountains but so far haven't had to evacuate.
Will indeed send some protective vibes your way.

I was so tired last night I didn't get a chance to post about my busy Saturday. Long story short I did laundry, cleaned and straightened up a bit, went to the supermarket early in the morning, went to the MetroPCS store in the evening to have my cracked screen protector replaced. These were walking errands. After returning from Metro I got serious about packing.

My son took me to catch the Atlantic City casino bus this morning before he headed to the mosque. Since I decided to wait until tomorrow to play my slot credit instead of having to drag my suitcase through Caesars, I got to the resort too early. There was a problem with check in because housekeeping is understaffed and they were backed up, so it was after 4:00 when I finally got checked in. A nice lady I was laughing with on line offered for me to stay in her suite until mine was ready, but as soon as she offered the front desk clerk worked magic and found a suite for me (the original one they assigned still wasn't ready).

The suite is finebut I couldn't get the patio door open so maintenance had to come up and fix that issue. One of the young men showed me a trick to open it easier while the other one oiled the track. I sat out on the patio, listened to the seagulls and watched the boats go by until it got dark.

In a moth or two, fruits on our trees will get ripe though oranges not till late November. Here is a sample of what we have.

Mission Figs, dark purple when ripe, and birds love them.....Persimmons will grow much larger

I used to record everything I planted in a Sunset Western Gardening Book but lost it. Now I am not sure whether these
fruits are indeed Cherimoyas. Does anyone know for sure? Yellow when ripe and very delicious.

Jujube taste green like apples and brown like a dates............Oranges will grow much larger

We used to have many more fruit trees. But when my wife went to the supermarket instead of going in the garden to
get fruits, then I lost interest. Also, I didn't like always having to spray for insects and other pests. Now we have only
trees that survive on their own and without watering (our lower garden area has a high water table.)

The lady's she-shed, as promised.

The first photo shows the lady's cabin as a new build. It's not prefabricated, rather it's bespoke. It has double walls lined with insulation. The second photo shows the wood preservation, not the most attractive of colours, but it does the job, which is important given that it needs to last.

The third photo shows one of her new sewing machines with the cover on. Look into the background, she has working, vintage sewing machines on display stands.

The fourth photo shows the opposite end of the cabin. What you see is the cutting out table and the storage of fabric, patterns and all the bits and bobs like thread, buttons, lining, reinforcement and so on. Collectively they are known as notions.

The last photo shows her overlocker, the machine that gives a professional finish to any garment. There's quite a few photos but it might get repetitive but I can easily show you anything like for example, a work in progress.

Look at the weathervane, it depicts a witch on her broomstick. My lady is one of those people with a strong sense of perception, the number of times that she has been right spooks me, it amused her when I started using "witch" as an analogy for her unnerving talent to know truth from bullshine.
Great to have a place to keep and use everything like that @horseless carriage.

Have you seen the big "sewing boxes"? With a dedicated sewing shed, it would not necessarily need the folding parts unless it is useful to be able to fold parts up, otherwise they could be static. I recall you posting about moving and Mrs HC having a new sewing shed when you do, perhaps this set-up might offer some good storage ideas for the new space which, of course, could be custom built and tweaked to suit. :)

Thanks for that Trish, we will certainly keep that in mind. You are right about the lady having a new cabin, the carpenter who built the current one advised new. He said that to try and dismantle the existing one and then reassemble it at the next address would be much more expensive than to simply build a new one at our new home, when we move.

The housing market is sluggish at present, in order to give our property a good chance of a sale we are having the place decorated inside and out, the roof and patio steam cleaned and the driveway made presentable. It gives the place something the agent calls: "kerb appeal." The existing cabin will be one of those 'extras,' along with a loft, that might just give the place that edge on the market.

That is wonderful! I rarely use my serger sewing machine because of lack of space. Now my sewing room is where I can set up a folding table. If I sewed as much as your wife I would consider a shed.
I love the weathervane!

I love getting up at five. It's quiet and I can have my coffee while catching up here.
As soon as its light I'll be outside.
I have a molar that I know is in need of a crown. Last night one of the last pieces of tooth holding the filling broke. 😣
I got some temporary filling and after thoroughly cleaning it I filled the tooth.
I put a message in to my doctor because their is something concerning Fosamax and dental work. I may have to go off the drug for a while but what I'm reading makes me think a crown would be ok.
I wish the tooth would have waited until I go off the drug at eighteen months but you know, teeth have their own mind.

I'm working on writing up my AccessARide experience this Saturday. Here are the bare bones of what I wrote so far:

"Sentry Never Confirms. Always must call AAR to findout which carrier, then I must call them for a confirmation of upcoming ride

Established my address to where I was heading before leaving.

Got on FDR. Traffic light, so everyone travelling fast. My driver kept up with moving traffic. FDR is a very curvey road. About a few minutes later, driver uses his right hand to manipulate cell phone hooked to dashboard. In left hand, he held another cell phone. No hands on wheel. Then, he uses right hand to hold a magnifying glass to look at cell phone screen in left hand.

NO HANDS ON WHEEL. Begins to swerve going at least 40 mph, keeping up with moving traffic.

I loudly said “PULL OVER. LEAVE FDR & PULL OVER TO READ CELL PHONE.

He Does Not, but continues. I Yelled: Get off FDR and Pull Over. You'll Kill Me.'

Finally, he says to me, “You going to ********?”which we had established three times prior. Yes, I said. He slowly put away Magnifying glass in right hand & cell phone in left hand.

Went through tunnel. At ********** end, he pulled over and did his cell phone, magnifying glass work with car stopped"

6:00 and watching the sky turn from dark to some light. Storms on the horizon today and most of the rest of the week.
VA doctor at 9:30 this morning. My left hand is full of arthritis and swollen. Hope I can get some relief soon.
Later…Pappy
oooh goodness Pappy, I feel for you with the arthritis.

I was in almost in tears last night with the pain in my right hand .

When I first was diagnosed with the OA.. the consultant said.. oh this is the type which will make your hands look very ugly eventually, but the good news is there will be no pain.. !

I'm still waiting for that no pain.... in the meantime my fingers get uglier by the day .. my GP just gives me co-codamol, to ease the pain.. it doesn't work..

It's HOT in my garden now..it's 82 deg, but feels much hotter ...

My neighbour has older children visiting.. and the noise is incredible. The screaming, the shouting.. all at the highest and loudest level... so it's really impossible for me to be in the garden at the moment...

Later I hope to get the ladders out and scrub the porch over the front door..

OMG! No wonder you were so freaked out yesterday. What a horrible experience. I hope you send of your letter to his employee. He isn’t a safe driver and doesn’t deserve the job.

On my early walk at 6:40, went around the complex, temp was 68 with a slight breeze
It boggles my mind I've been living here at Canterbury Woods- Gates for 2 months now, no idea where the time has gone, I do love living here, met some wonderful new friends. I still see my friends from Tudor Plaza, invite them for lunch. Alas, no movement on selling my co opt apt. Patrick{real estate agent} & I recently dropped the price.I'm hopeful within the next couple of months it will sell. I still have to pay the monthly rent until its sold, also the monthly rent here- bummer I knew this when I moved

@Pepper C'mon! Do you think those AAR drivers are out to kill themselves or anybody else?

I've been planting next summer's garden in my mind already and have some ideas that I can see so well in my mind's eye that I can't wait for next spring! Oooohhhh! It's gonna be a show-stopper for sure.
