Thanks for that Trish, we will certainly keep that in mind. You are right about the lady having a new cabin, the carpenter who built the current one advised new. He said that to try and dismantle the existing one and then reassemble it at the next address would be much more expensive than to simply build a new one at our new home, when we move.

The housing market is sluggish at present, in order to give our property a good chance of a sale we are having the place decorated inside and out, the roof and patio steam cleaned and the driveway made presentable. It gives the place something the agent calls: "kerb appeal." The existing cabin will be one of those 'extras,' along with a loft, that might just give the place that edge on the market.
You're welcome.

I have seen the photos you posted of your house and I think it looks lovely. It has an Art Deco look. So many people have hobbies and to have a really nice space already in situ would definitely be a bonus, certainly it would be something I'd love to find if I were looking at a house. Hopefully the market will pick up but, in the meantime, you have a beautiful home to enjoy. :)

I've never been in an Uber, but I was in a taxi 30 years ago.
I did ride a train/subway in D.C. once.
Where I'm at there isn't much in the way of public transportation.
Unlike here where there is Trains, buses , taxis, ubers, Tubes (subway)... ... well not where I live , but even tho' I live semi rurally, there's still a nearby train station into London in 20 minutes... and of course there are buses and taxis...but in the city there's everything available including rental bikes at just £1.65

it's 1/4 to 7 in the evening.. and it's still hot altho' all the sun is out the front and I've got the washing hanging out the back, so i don't know if it'll dry before dark given I've just put it out ...

I did attempt to clean the Porch , but the stains are caused by the rain bringing the moss down from the roof.. and despite having had my gutters cleaned I'm getting it still from next door.. and so the steel brush didn't really do anything despite my best efforts.. . I'm going to have to find a specialist cleaning solution for concrete..

The two largest wildfires to the north of us were the result of lightning strikes, and each was discovered by fire-watch specialists 11 days ago. It took some days for the authorities to muster full-scale firefighting crews, so the fires grew and hot weather, lack of precipitation, and winds have caused the fires to spread.

For the last five days, we've been doing serious daily at-home preparation work to be ready to feel we've saved our most essential transportable things, if we get an evacuation order. Doggedly prioritizing and gathering orderly assemblages of things is taxing work. As I post this, we're about to travel a half-hour southward with our third pickup load to be stored in the 10ft x 10ft storage unit we've rented.

We're making progress. Still, if our days were seen by an outside observer, there'd be a certain humorous aspect. Picture two capable senior adults sometimes thoroughly agreeing on how & what to do, sometimes slightly differing, and occasionally quite at odds. Some scenes would resemble ones from old, silent Chaplin or Keystone Cops comedies!

What I did today: nothing, absofreakinglutely nothing. Didn't play in the dirt. Didn't tidy up. Didn't blue my hair.

This has to stop. Really. I'm flunking retirement again, and the awful part is that I'm still a month away from cataract surgery plus three more weeks after that before I can work again. Seven. Weeks.

I need something to...um...herd? round up? neaten up? arrange? Maybe I'm part sheep dog.

Wait. I lied. I cleaned Maggiecat's litter box and made my bed.

you're going to have to find something NOW that you can do while you're recovering from the eye surgery.. I mean get yourself something in place in readiness for the 3 weeks downtime...

Had physical therapy today, felt like being sent to the corner in grade school. They had this blue children's ball, about the size of a cantaloupe. I had to lean against a wall with my head holding the ball in place, front, back and both sides. Supposed to strengthen my neck, meanwhile, no one else in the room was embarrassed by their activity!! Of course there were the stretching exercises I have done at home for years. I did enjoy and exercise bike that I had to peddle with my arms to increase my strength.

There is something called dry needling that must be akin to acupuncture. I found it quite pleasant and relaxing.

Then did a big shop at the grocery. I feel pretty good about what I did today. It was nice to be out in the world.

@hollydolly Yabbut...I can't even apply for a job because who's gonna want to wait to hire me if I can't work before mid-September?

I know I'd like working at the Dollar Tree store close by, but by then it'll probably be too late to get hired there or anywhere else because it will be too close to the start of the holiday season. Rats. Gotta put on my thinking cap.

well you can but try. Just tell them you're going to have the OP on your eyes , and you'll be fit for work in September.. the worst they can say is NO...

Can't hurt, yanno? If I don't try, they can't say yes:)
I don't know if the Dollar Store is the right place for you. Seems like there is always some disturbance there, a lot of people trying to steal of all things. Lot of people who are struggling, homeless, addicted. I do not blame them but it can get crazy in there at times. I shop Dollar stores but am careful about when I go. The bad stuff starts when the sun goes down.

I have a neighbor around the corner, she was my Mother's age, a widow. She found the greatest part time gig at a senior living center. She was the receptionist at a senior living center. She answered the phones, greeted guests, gave directions to rooms and any other assistance she could do. She worked the daytime shift on the weekends and some other times if people were out sick or on vacation. She got to meet new people, got to know the residents who would come to the lobby to just visit.

I have not seen her in a while but I am not out and about much. I do know she is still in her home. She was a great gift to us when out mother had to be there for rehab a couple of times. My point is to not limit yourself to a certain type of job. You have energy, a great personality and sense of humor, there might be something good for you even at a hospital setting, making others feel more comfortable, kind of like a professional candy striper.

LOL!!! That didn't go in my eyes right, and what I read was "professional candy stripper." :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I don't think our dollar store would be a danger zone because of the neighborhood. And I'd only want to work the early hours. They open at 8 so probably a shift from about 7 to 11 or 12. Nah...that doesn't worry me. Doubt that somebody wanting to burgle the place would be in that early because there wouldn't be enough money in the till yet.

I don't think I'd much like working in a senior living/assisted living place. Maybe. Guess it's worth checking into.

Well, if you have a desire to run around naked it is not my business. You would be perfect for working in a senior living facility, everyone needs someone to look up to, someone to make them laugh, someone to talk to and make them realize that age is just something that just happens, it does not have to be something that defines you. Probably pays better too!!

@Georgiagranny, I don’t think you know how to sit still.

Do you have local bus service so you can go somewhere and do nothing while you wait for cataract surgery. Maybe you could get a free bus pass as a (visually disabled) senior. It would help keep you out of trouble.

I went down to the timeshare marketing department for the upgrade meeting they lured me down here for. I was scheduled for 9:00 but after waiting a few minutes I was told someone called out and I needed to be rescheduled for 11:00. The receptionist offered to give me my gift without me taking the meeting. I thanked her but declined because I was curious and I had a couple of questions I wanted to ask.

They lure you in with two free night stays and cash gift for an alleged update on new offerings. In reality they want you to pay to upgrade before being able to benefit from those changes. Once it became evident that I was not going to do that my 90-minute meeting lasted about 20 minutes. 😄 Two Representatives could not change my mind.

I went to gift shop in the resort twice….first to get my (frozen) meals and dessert for the day then later to get water.
In the afternoon I took the complimentary shuttle to the Ocean Resort to get my $100 gift and then after seeing the shuttle pull off 3 minutes early I took the Jitney to Caesars to play my slot bonus. Good thing I kept the 75 cent senior Jitney tickets on me; regular fare is $2.50 . Once I play that complimentary bonus I don't put another nickel of my money in the machines.

After collecting my measly $6 (the lowest I've ever gotten back), I walked the boardwalk to Bally's to take the complimentary shuttle but realized it wasn't going to stop at the normal bus lane after noticing that part of Bally's is closed temporarily. I did not know where the new stop would be so I walked around the corner to get the Jitney back to the hotel. I walked a total of 2 miles today.

I sat on the balcony for a while then came in and called my son so I could have a video chat with him and Deja. I think when she heard my voice she started looking for me because he was telling her "No she's on the phone" . 😅😺 He makes sure I get to see her when I'm away.
