Never owned a piece of land. Seems so nice. I had backyards, but they were rented, and small. I did plant gardens though, that was allowed. The only plants I didn't kill were my cucumbers-yum-but especially the silver dollar plant.

The light may be different in your room now. Is it?
Yes, the TV from the second bedroom is now in mine and it's much, much bigger, is placed now right in front of bed instead of off to left side. Also, my cats broke my window blinds and I can see sky & street sometimes. But that part is old news.

You need to try getting the light out of your room when sleeping. Do you have a timer on the TV so it goes off after you fall asleep?

Can't sleep with it or without it?
One of the best things I ever did for myself was get rid of the TV in my room.
Can't fall asleep without TV on, and I listen to the worst stuff--cable news, although in middle of night switch to meditative music channel. I don't like it dark anymore. Can't remember when this habit started, I think during my anxious cancer moments from 2003, certainly since 2014 when son got married and I was alone, with cats, for first time since late '70's.

Good morning, Invisipeeps. I didn't roll out of bed until 7. Retirement. Ahhh.

We're under a heat advisory again today, but the feels like temp will *only* be around 110 or so. Glad I don't live near @Ken N Tx. @hollydolly are you getting the promised rain? Maybe that will keep your temp down a bit.

The dead/dying roses need to be dug up this morning so I have to throw on my grubbies and get on out there and get started because it's going to be too hot in another hour or two.

I'll be back in a little while.

No rain yet... Still HOT...apparently it will rain later this afternoon.. for a few hours..then it'll be back to hot tomorrow...

I've just been in the garden affixing clips to the fence trellises, to stop them rattling about in the wind.. they've come loose from their fittings over the years so if a Dove or pigeon lands on them as they do a lot they're making it worse.. so I've just fitted these clips to stop that happening..

Hi! I've been up for an hour already. Goober has gone for a walk and done his tree climbing. He has also had his breakfast.

While I was out with Goob, Dio started the laundry and coffee. It's going to be another sweltering, hot day. Right after we have our breakfast, we are heading out to Wal-Mart. I don't need a lot of things, but there are a few items that I am almost out of. I hope to be home very, very early, so that I can spend the rest of the day hiding from the heat.

I love your little gifs and emoticons! Always cheery.

I've just finished making a giant pot of Minced beef, with sausage, potatoes, Leeks, Mushrooms and cabbage..to portion up and freeze.

It was Like purgatory making that in the kitchen while we have almost 90 degrees outside. I could have passed out with heat stroke lol....

Anyway it had to be done..I'll get that portioned up when it cools..

I've already cleaned up the kitchen, it's amazing how many utensils I use when making this dish..

Annoyingly I bought 5 pounds of potatoes from Tesco 2 days ago... dated 5th Aug... opened them today to find they'd all sprouted... . That really annoys me

A month ago I bought 5 pounds of spuds from M&S... they lasted 3 weeks....

Still hot and sunny... grass is going very pale and crispy...good thing the storm is forecast for about an hours' time.. and we'll get about 5 mm....

I've noticed in the past couple years I have to check everything to be sure it's fresh. Store just aren't as militant as they used to be about moving their stock. I understand things are good past the expiration but fresh food should be checked and marked down. I don't mind getting it discounted and if I'm going to use it right away.

Exactly that, but when food is well within it's expiry date and has gone off, then something is wrong. Either the farmers are not supplying the food until late or the supermarkets are keeping the food in cold storage for far too long before putting it out for sale..

The meals all portioned up , cooling..

Holy cow, it's hot again! Why am I surprised? It's August. August is hot. My gramma always told me not to wish my life away, but I was tickled to turn the page on July and will be even more tickled when it's time to turn it to September.

It took longer than expected to dig up the rose bushes because once again, I fell victim to the oh-look-shiny curse: I'll just do this one thing, that other thing, pull up this handful of 10 square feet of weeds, reset these three pavers. Y'all know how that goes.

However, the good news is that the cosmos, zinnias and snapdragons have already been planted so I'm ahead of tomorrow's gardening.

Since I'm in for the day, I started some laundry and am contemplating vacuuming The Hovel this afternoon. The vacuuming part has to be taken under advisement. After all, we wouldn't want me to overdo, would we? My goal is to underdo.

That picture is me saying, " Next year I'm cutting all this down!" 😁
And yet you know that you won't. It'll be a case of "This is the last year I'm doing this because it's too much work" or "Next year I'm hiring someone to do all this." ;)

I'm really looking forward to, say, mid-September when it's still warm and summerlike but not humid. It's my favorite time of year. This year there might even be more flowers in bloom from the ones I planted this morning. That would be a nice bonus. It's usually cool enough in the early morning to put on a robe before going outside with my coffee so my favorite time of year and my favorite time of day. Ahhhhh.
