Needed a few supplies from the corner store this morning. They were refrigerated so I pulled my granny trolley with an insulated bag and ice blocks. It was already 89 when I left and hotter for my trek back. It’s not too far. Usually I take a circuitous route for the exercise. It would have been a good day to drive, but I need to walk. We’ve been walking at dusk. 8:30 or so. 89 is tolerable if the sun isn’t beating down.

Last night saw three little kids in a 12 volt, reversible truck. Wonder how much those things cost. I would have liked one when I was a kid.

Good morning. I was wide awake at 4am and decided at 4:30 to get up. Now that I've had coffee and gathered my wits, I'm all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and ready to plant stuff. It's probably best to wait until daylight, ya think? While I'm waiting, there are the usual morning tidying-up chores to do.
Good morning to you too. The heat had me up twice throughout the night, I gave up at six. Currently we are putting a few essentials together for our busy day ahead. The lady is, of course, beautifying herself, so while I am waiting let me tell you what I know of a tiny corner of The State of Georgia. It's the State's most famous city and it's name is Savannah.

At school and later at college, I had a very good female friend, name of Monica. It was a platonic friendship but a close and enjoyable one. Monica studied something like Hospital Management. It probably wasn't called that but that was the field in which she would work in the future. After graduation Monica went into hospital management and I went off and danced my socks off. We kept in touch, just, no internet back then, but we did write a letter occasionally.

Sometime later, Monica got married, he was a fellow from the USA, working on secondment here in the UK, he was also a widower, a young widower, poor man. Monica and her new husband went to live in Georgia, Savannah Georgia. And a year or so later, after I had got married, I took my new wife to meet a very good friend. My wife and Monica just clicked, they were almost like sisters.

We would stay the first night with Monica when we made our annual visit to the US, then go off exploring. We discovered a western bar that had a motto: "You Can't Have More Fun With Your Boots On." I just can't remember the venue's name, "Saddle Bags," maybe. There were many dance venues where our rock and roll jive routine had everyone just standing around watching.

Savannah, we learned, was a coastal city by the Savannah River. The manicured parks, the architecture and the horse drawn carriages were incredible. We have photos on celluloid which I keep saying I must get transferred to digital.

The historic district is filled with cobblestone squares and parks, like Forsyth Park, with big oak trees covered in moss. At the centre of this is the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist.

And now Granny, I must be away, but when I get time, I will blow the dust off those photos.

Speaking of kids ...

I was out walking the neighborhood earlier when a kid, must have been all of six or seven I guess, hollered out, "WHY ARE YOU SO UGLY !!!"

Without thinking I said, "I'm YOU from the future, kid" ... I went around the block and when I passed back by, he was still crying :(
Haha. Yesterday, a nice teenage boy checked me out at the grocery. He had an interesting shirt on. It looked like he had sewn some NASA or some type of space patches in the front. Anyway, it was nice and I told him I liked it and did he sew them on. He said no, he bought it at Pac-Sun. I said"Oh, cool.
After I left I realized a "grandma" just liked his shirt. He'll might burn it. 😁

Friday was my eye doctor appointment. Got there promptly at 3 pm and went in to have the assistant do a preliminary check in. Then waited until almost 4:30 to see the doctor. Why do doctors continue to overbook their patients? I let them know that this is unacceptable and should stop. I got that one ear and out the other look..😏
Anyway, we ended up going to have a fish fry at our favorite place. 25 years ago it was 9.95 a plate. Now it’s 17.99 a plate. Inflation rears its ugly head again.
Today our cleaning gal comes and our house will be spic and span when she leaves. Have a good day friends.

Morning earlywormer's !!! I've been up awhile and on my 3rd
and last cuppa :coffee: ...got all my hair chopped off last eve, Lady
owns the shop with her father, so she has to do the closing routine beforee she can cut my hair....her father getting older
and problems prevent him from running the barbershop any
longer, so she has taken over...good lady....no biggie plans
for the day yet....got a closer view of that mangy fox, and boy
he is terrible to look at...almost all hair is now gone....don't
think the meds I'm giving him inside hot dogs is going to
help it...poor critter....okay enuff catch u later on!!! :):devilish:

This heat has been rough on my neuropathy the past few daze. It is hard getting a good night's sleep. Then I am fatigued much of the day. BUT last night was great. I feel like a new dude at the moment. I hope it lasts all day. :) We plan on walking on the side roads near our farm. The mosquitoes have invaded our place. I mean it is nuts. We go from the front door 20 yards to our car and get in and the car fills up with them. We roll all the windows down to blow them out, and then we have to swat at them. So, we go down the road to exercise. :)

Teens usually respond very positively when I notice and compliment their apparel or hair.

I mean, it's not like I'm one of their parents.

Same here with both things Pappy... Patients are only permitted 8 minutes with the doctor, and only one issue can be discussed.. and that's because we don't have enough GP's for the population...

The madness of only being allowed to discuss one issue means that many things go undiagnosed properly because sometimes 2 or 3 issues together will point to a different problem, which could be easily addressed. .

equally Fish & chips here is ridiculously expensive now...

Yes, @horseless carriage, Savannah is definitely worth a visit…. One of my fave day-trips (it’s about 2 hrs east of me). I love browsing in The Paris Market on Broughton and there’s always good food from which to choose. Strolling through the squares and window-shopping at the antique stores is so relaxing.

I’ll be there later next week… I can’t promise to dance at a bar but I’ll certainly be thinking of you and your lady as I visit 😀

Good Saturday morning, August 3rd.
Had the best of intentions to dust yesterday. Honest, I did. But then a shiny squirrel darted past and I followed him into the cabinet that houses my Tupperware type containers. It was a 2+ hour chore to match and sort everything. (My little household "helper" aka TGS, loves poking around in that cabinet.)

Of course, numerous unmatched bottoms and lids remain. They'll live in the garage for a couple of months in hopes that their mates appear.

After squaring everything away, I decided to keep a childproof lock on that cabinet when TGS is with us. We have plenty of actual toys for him to play with.

Speaking of TGS, he's not coming here today as had been planned. Poor little fella has a fever and is vomiting. I love him, but don't want any part of that action. I did my time in those trenches...

I ❤️ Savannah!

@hollydolly, my doc is now limited to discussing one thing. Period. When I was there for my physical last year, she wasn't allowed to address anything else. Yanno, like the growth on my hip that is growing, or the bruise on my leg from a box falling on it a year ago that's still there. She wasn't even allowed to write an "appointment ticket" for a nurse visit to flush my ears. Ticked me off. My copay is only $25, but for three problems that comes to $75. I can't even pay $75 to address them all at one appointment. Gotta have separate appointments for each one. Oy!

@StarSong I'm glad I'm not alone suffering from oh-look-shiny syndrome! LOL BTW, everybody knows that the only way to find mates for odd lids or containers is to throw out the ones that don't match anything. Then their mates turn up. It's part of Murphy's Law.

Okay, then. The Bermuda seed has been sewn and raked in. And believe it or not, the flower seeds that were planted on Thursday have sprouted. DD didn't believe it, but she wasn't about to sail on out to the garden in her jammies. Geez, it's not like anybody would see her!

After getting all hot and sweaty in the garden and working on the lawn, I'm all showered and sweet-smelling and wearing clean clothes. Everything else that needs to be done today is indoors...like vacuuming and...wait for it...dusting! Yup. Gonna dust (probably). Hair still needs to be blued. It's such a nuisance to do, and if I had pretty snow white hair like my grandmothers had, I'd leave it that way, but some is still kinda dark. Salt and pepper but not pretty salt and pepper.

Got an account with another financial institution set up and money transferred, bought another CD there. Rebalancing to ensure everything falls within the FDIC insurance limit each place and make sure as much money as possible earns a good rate for now, two years out, three years out, etc. We'll just see if the Fed bows to pressure to cut rates.

My banking records and spreadsheets are now updated to accommodate the new accounts.

I hate the paperwork, but...

@Georgiagranny ...with regard the one appointment situation... do you also have a timed appointment like us.. 8 mins max 10 minutes unless we book a double appointment.. but only to discuss one problem.. we've had this ludicrous situation for years now.

I can understand a doctor not wanting to get into a long list of things at a single appointment.. but most maladies have at least 2 symptoms which would identify the problem.. where one single issue will not.....and then you return at another date to discuss a second issue but then you're not permitted to mention the first..unless you have a sympathetic doctor.. and I was fortunate to have last time I saw my doctor, and I'll be seeing that same one again next week...and it's imperative that I get to discuss more than one issue, because one is skin cancer..

Fortunately we don't have to pay out of pocket as you do for the NHS..altho' we have paid it from our salaries all our lives... but the next step for you may well be the same as us, in that you could end up waiting for weeks before an appointment becomes available.. and that makes the whole issue of discussing one problem at a time, very much more dangerous

Don't I know it, GG.

Just out of the pool and about to make a veggie stirfry breakfast. After that, it'll be a super quick grocery run to replenish some fresh fruits and veggies. Might grab the duster today, might not.

I didn't get to the invoicing yesterday so that's bumped up to the top of today's must-do list.

It won't be as hot/humid as what some others will be dealing with, but the weather here over next 4 days will nevertheless keep me mostly indoors. With triple digits, I throw in the towel.

We'll pull the pool cover back 1/4 of the way tonight so the water cools enough to stay at 90° or a little below.

Re: AccessARide wars! Two professional good rides. I know, I'm shocked too.

Had excellent day/night with grandson. Took him to his Ninja class, then we went out to a neighborhood restaurant. Went home, we watched his favorite YouTubers, Salish & Nidal, with a little Rebecca Zamolo thrown in. Love watching this stuff, but only with him. Left their home 10:30 am.
🐈‍⬛ 🐈 very glad to see me.

My GP discusses anything and everything with me during a single visit. No copay, but I also don't get the quarterly grocery card from Kaiser that you receive, so our plans differ.

I rarely wait longer than ten minutes between my scheduled appointment time and when the doctor walks into the exam room, but sure do remember the days of regularly waiting 40-60 minutes before coming face-to-face with the doctor.
("Hmmm....your blood pressure's a little high today..."
Gee, ya' think?)

I did "doctor shop" within Kaiser's GPs before settling on my current GP. If a KP doctor told me I couldn't discuss more than one thing at a checkup appointment, I'd ask if that was stated Kaiser policy, because I wanted be clear about the source of that rule before dispatching a scathing email to Member Services.

Can't help but wonder if it's that particular facility or doctor's "policy" and not Georgia Kaiser's.

No idea how NHS works, but that policy sounds ridiculous and extremely frustrating, @hollydolly.

@hollydolly I have no idea what the time limit is for appointments. When I go in for my physical every year, it seems like it takes about 45 minutes to an hour or so. We already have to wait weeks for an appointment unless we go to urgent care. The copay is the same so when I have a problem, I go to urgent care, pay the copay and get seen within minutes.

The Hovel has been vacuumed, and brace yourselves...dusted! Even the ceiling fan blades. And the trash has been taken out. @StarSong In case you didn't know, part of Murphy's Law states that when the trash has been taken out and a new liner put in the trash can, something else appears that should have gone out, too. Oh, well, I'm not going back out there. It's too hot 🥵

DD is sorting odds and ends in her kitchen. She came over with two packets of zinnia seeds! Two. I think that was DD, but since when did she start planting anything from seed? I should have asked her to identify herself and asked what she did with my DD! What the heck, I'm gonna plant those seeds tomorrow. In about 4-5 weeks we're going to be awash in zinnias, but one can never have too many flowers, right?

I've just been out to water my new grass seed and new flower sprouts. Again. While out there I scouted around for space where there's still sun to figure out where to plant DD's gifted zinnia seeds. Found two likely spots. Gonna do that tomorrow.

There's no rain on the radar between now and 10pm so probably none happening tonight.

@hollydolly Did the rain you were threatened with ever come to pass? I hope it's at least a little cooler.
