guess where I found them ?...In the Chisel Tool box in the barn!! :p:p

What does an old guy do when everyone is gone to an amusement park? I worked a few hours in the garden till it got too hot. But physical work keeps me going and healthy, and it develops a good appetite.

Left: some nutritional supplements I take daily, and others on a rotating basis. Developing swallowing difficulties with advanced age, I had a "swallowing study" that helped me understanding what's going on. Now I am using probiotic Kefir for swallowing pills and tablets
Right: Blueberries have a super healthy reputation; so, every day 1/2 cup

Left: our Dollar Tree store has a $0.50 sale on canned coffee, and I bought 2 dozen to alternate with my percolated and instant coffees
Right: Does anyone snack on roasted seaweed? It has a super healthy reputation.

Lunchtime: the base is condensed tomato soup with two handful of dried onions, two eggs and some chicken cut in, a shot of
Lemon juice or organic apple cider, a shot of either Avocado or Virgin Olive oil, and a half dozen spices. My wife won’t eat it, LOL

I have 4 doctor appointments coming up
dermatology skin cancer checkup
obtaining the results of my bone density test
annual eye examination with diluting the eye
annual physical examination

Still have not seen the creature in the bath. The only thing I can imagine is he hides in the drain when I open the door. I have set out a couple of traps in there.

Finally, could not take any more pain. Had two muscle relaxers during the night and a dose of meloxicam. About 6AM I took a xanax and that did help with the pain. Got a few hours of sleep.

Not under my bed..I have an Ottoman bed... only keep bedding under there and books...

Sewing notions...?..that's the first place I looked because that's where I've kept them all this time
Why do we keep them there? That's where mine are! 😁
Are they under a bathroom sink? That's my other place. Edit: Oh, in the barn. Of course! 😊

I made Paula Deen's squash casserole, roasted potatoes, and fish cakes made from a can of chub mackeral and smashed cucumbers.
Your lunch sounds good too!20240807_142854.jpg

Something strange...there was a deposit from Kroger that was made to my account on Monday for $148.99. Now there's a pending deposit for tomorrow for $149.61. What the what? I have no idea what either of them is for. When I saw Monday's deposit this morning, I figured it was for unpaid PTO that I didn't know I had. But tomorrow? Hm. The prudent thing to do is to not spend it and not transfer it to savings because I'll bet $$ they'll come along and claw it back.

However, if they wanna give me $$, I'm not proud; I'll take it!

They owe you for something but you're wise to hold it for a while.

what's a PTO ?

Took load #7 to the storage unit yesterday. For a while, all the loads went down in the pickup, and with one of them next-door friends drove their pickup full of our stuff too. Those first loads were DW's sculptures in crates. Next we took larger elecric-motor-driven equipment, after that compact equipment. After that, quite assorted, including household things. Yesterday it was mainly clothing, blankets, etc in plastic tubs; a hardwood case of table flatware I inherited from my mother's family. Plus two guitars that I took to friends' home that is quite far from the fires.

We've got a box-load of important papers (legal, etc), a box of camping-gear types of things.

This local wildfire situation is tricky to manage. The storage unit is 2/3 full, and at this point selecting priorities is difficult. We still need to keep quite a few things at home, just to live, eat, sleep, plus tools to do everyday chores. We haven't begun with our most precious momentos, from family, friends, and travel. But we know if the evacuation alert does come, we'll be quickly packing more into the pickup & the compact SUV.

this is going on for a long time isn't it ..seems verrry long.. how long has it been now ?

@hollydolly PTO is paid time off. I have no idea what makes it different from vacation or sick leave or whatever else. Since I was only a part-time employee, I never bothered to even look into any of that stuff, figuring that I'd get the usual one-week vacation every year.

I guess we'll see if it's money that's really mine or if it's a mistake. Kroger's IT department is notorious for screwing up.

Blessed: In a previous home a raccoon made a nest under our bathtub to have her babies. She could not get into the bathtub as her entrance and exit were actually under our house. I kept feeling something moving under the tub when I bathed. My husband thought I was crazy. The warm water made the babies uncomfortable and they would move around directly under the tub. It was only after my husband felt them move around that he decided to investigate under the house and found that the mama raccoon had pulled out the insulation and made quite a nest under that tub. So.. the critter could possibly be under the tub.

I don't think so, my house is built on a slab foundation. Not saying they won't come in but I have never had one. My sister had one come down the chimney, and I know others that had them get into attics.

Holly, the fires started nearly three weeks ago. There are three main fires, and they have the potential to join up. It took days to assemble equipment, firefighters, an online & phone info center, etc. Then, for a while, smoke was so thick that aerial water bombing was impossible, as precise targeting was prevented. The build-up to current levels of personnel and equipment has happened within roughly the last five days.

Winds have spread the main fires, but with attention from the crews they've mostly spread away from our home. By my estimate, from reports, around 1500 people in this essentially low-population area have been evacuated, from village & outlying residences. These fires are still classed as out-of-control. There's some thought that they might not be truly put out until another month's time.

so what happens if all the homes where people have been evacuated burn down ?.. what happens then, where do you all go ( fingers crossed that doesn't happen of course)

First of all, the fire-fighting effort is directed with the aim to keep fire away from residences, if possible. Secondly, usually wildfire tends to jump around. So when it has gone through residential areas in our province, it is completely unpredictable which buildings will be destroyed. Which, on the one hand is why whole villages or neighborhoods can receive evacuation orders, but on the other hand it's anyone's guess whether any particular home will be destroyed.

If a household winds up being homeless, they have to do their best to find shelter with friends, family, a hotel, or some provisional housing arrangement provided by some level of government. We have friends in the nearby small city who have said they will accommodate us, if need be. When a home (and/or rural outbuildings) are destroyed, then, if there is insurance covering, the owners try to get a decent deal from the insurer.
