A toenail moon out there tonight, just setting from my vantage point.
First of all, the fire-fighting effort is directed with the aim to keep fire away from residences, if possible. Secondly, usually wildfire tends to jump around. So when it has gone through residential areas in our province, it is completely unpredictable which buildings will be destroyed. Which, on the one hand is why whole villages or neighborhoods can receive evacuation orders, but on the other hand it's anyone's guess whether any particular home will be destroyed.
If a household winds up being homeless, they have to do their best to find shelter with friends, family, a hotel, or some provisional housing arrangement provided by some level of government. We have friends in the nearby small city who have said they will accommodate us, if need be. When a home (and/or rural outbuildings) are destroyed, then, if there is insurance covering, the owners try to get a decent deal from the insurer.
Me, too. There are only two temperatures here in the summertime: hot and hotter.A little yard work, in the A/C by 10AM...
Unbelievable!!!! Good for you!!Well I was supposed to be going out this afternoon for an appointment at my Doctors surgery... and as you all know by now it takes weeks to get an appointment , so I'm always loath to cancel one for any reason.. but today I'm not feeling the best so I called to cancel.. and try to make another one, and the receptionist said after looking to see what I was seeing my doctor for.. said she would get the Doc to call me instead, to save me waiting for another appointment.. and the Doctor did.. 10 minutes later. Fabulous !!

what shade of Blue?I dyed things blue today.
I don't like to wear bright white. It doesn't do me any favors. I had a nice top with eyelet sleeves, a short sleeved light hoodie, two sweaters, and some denim that needed refreshing. All cotton. They came out so good! I almost got rid of them!
New clothes!
Gosh Rose, send some of that a couple thousand miles to the west, and slightly north, if you will.Torrential rain yesterday and light rain this morning. Still overcast.
Yes, I just finished my six hundred page Book for Book Club, and I swore I could never read the last 200 pages in the time I had left, and I DID!Isn't it great to do something you thought you couldn't go and do?
I wish I could. How are you with the fires now?Gosh Rose, send some of that a couple thousand miles to the west, and slightly north, if you will.![]()
Most came out a light blue but some had a blue grey hue.what shade of Blue?
The great thing about blue, because there's sooo many shades it's a very versatile colour.
at least half of my wardrobe contains blue of one shade or another
Oh yes I know that colour..that's the accidental blue/grey dye.... the colour my underwear comes out if I don't remember to add a colour sheet to the machineMost came out a light blue but some had a blue grey hue.
The area just north of us, that has been under evacuation order for at least a week, is now returned to evacuation alert — which means that, for now at least, residents in that area can return home. It's a hopeful sign for us.I wish I could. How are you with the fires now?
