I've decided that there's no rule that says I have to dig in the dirt today. The flowers have been deadheaded. That's enough because. Sunday.

When DD or DGD cook, it's almost always something with chicken, sometimes pork. Well. I've been jonesing for roast beast for the longest time. Coerced DD into taking me to Publix to get a nice chuck roast. It's already in the oven. Roast beast, mashed potatoes, gravy...ahhhh.

@hollydolly, jmo, move while you’re physically able. Enjoy exploring a new location without the hassle of having to drive unless you really want to. If you don’t have a garden, you don’t need that shed. Once you’re in the city you can stop large purchases for the freezer. Just wander about daily to various shops to pick up what you need. Best of all, walk away from all the recent memories.

Deck got painted Fri,. yesterday it threatened rain but didn't until sometime early this morning.

Yesterday, I visited 3 stores, bought a small houseplant, a plant stand, a door mat, a box for my remote, phone, glasses etc for the coffee table. Finally, some groceries.

Today, I don't want to do anything except surf, watch TV, re-heat yesterdays leftovers for supper. Nothing major needs to be done in the house, just some usual picking up.

Got this last night, DGS and DGGS practicing for Thanksgiving already!

Welp, just got a good look at my fox, gonna call him DAWG@@@....LOL....JK.....he's starting to get some hair back
but still looking rather rough, and i see something in corner
of right eye that could be a tick or some sort of growth....he
ran when I opened door to throw his hot dogs, but he will
prob be back later....sure hope he will heal up soon and get
that pretty red coat back....could not get a pic tho....

it's 4,30pm very hot & humid, and I've been helping out here sweeping up after they've cut down the trees along my paths etc... they've cut all the trees now, and I've been raking all the smaller branches from the lawns. as well, while they're doing all the heavy work. Currently they're chipping the last trees... there's several tons of Branches. They already filled one chipper truck and had to take it away and empty it.. they've still got at least another truck to fill, they said they might not get it all in and have to return another day.. I hope not...

Day 4 of a 5 day trip down to That London. Another hot sunny day and Mrs Oy is away shopping (again) with our eldest. So here’s me mooching about with my camera. Currently enjoying a cold pint in a pub near the Tower of London (All Bar One) having walked about round Hackney then down the river from Westminster Bridge to here. Step counter on my Apple Watch thinks it’s been stolen by an athlete 🤣
you are sooooo lazy..I swear. You could have come here and give these guys a helping hand in this baking heat ...but no... you would rather sit in the pub having a cold pint.... how is that fair ?... did you even get us one in ?... Naaaa...I can answer that for ya ... well thanks a bunch... :p:p🥵

See this is precisely the argument I"m giving myself and have been for the last week. Everything close by.. which is what I really want..in a nice area which is lucky to get in the city....and no back breaking work in the garden and in the house.

My real trouble is I like being outside in the garden.. like Gigi says they'd have to have a big balcony for her... and this is what I've said all along if I take an apartment it will have to have that.. and this one doesn't it's small only enough space for a small table and 2 chairs..

Plus it's ground floor, something I said I would never take.. I really don't want people making noise above my head when I'm sleeping etc..

Also the kitchen is small. no space for my tumble dryer or my larder freezer... ...so I'm really having an internal battle with myself..

All that said.. this gardener & Tree surgeon have said that they will come and cut my grass and hedges if I want..every month for minimal $$...so I'm in a real quandary. The kitchen is the biggest drawback for me.. and really I don't want to be shopping for groceries every day..it's more expensive that way, and I hate grocery shopping as well..

The apartment block is beautifully kept for a London apartment block.. they have internal cleaners they have inside and outside cctv... they have underground parking... and the ground floor apartment is the cheapest... the top floor apartments ( 4 floors).. are approx £3/4 of a million.. and they have more spacious kitchens and bathrooms.. the ground floor one is significantly more affordable..

You need one in the middle. Preferably that you buy for what you sell your home for.

@hollydolly I do have advice! Keep looking. It's not like you have to have a place right this minute.

Make a list for your agent: Parking garage. No stairs. Large kitchen. Large bathroom. Storage. Outdoor space, preferably covered so that you can sit outside even when it's raining and whatever all else you need to have like walkability and nearby grocery shopping.

Meanwhile, downsize here and there.

Another thought: Yanno all that stuff for garden care in the shed? Include it in the sale of the house.

yes that's precisely what I was thinking to do with the stuff in the barn and in the sheds. Include it all in the price.

The thing is I've been looking for somewhere else to live that fills the criteria that I gave to the agent.. for almost 3 years now.. and this particular apartment is the closest it's come to it.. I wouldn't normally be able to afford to live in that part of London.. average 3 bed one and half bath are £1.5 million

the 2 bed apartment ground floor is £475,000 making it more affordable...and so far up to now, there has never been any properties that have come up that are right in the middle of 2 London Tube stations.. that's like Gold... while still being outside of the city centre...

Anyway.. my daughter has given me her thoughts on it... you all have too.. so it will all depend on whether I can sell this, and that won't be quite yet... in the meantime will be able to view other properties..

I wasn't done procrastinating but vacuumed anyway.

The roast beast smells divine.

@hollydolly Do you have pix of the finished project in your garden?
It's not finished yet, they're still out there chipping down the trees... the neighbours must think they're ears are gonna burst with that chipper going all day like it has been

I'm not posting pictures of my garden.. I don't want it to be found on the internet when I have it up for sale...

Will offer a day's play by play entry. Yesterday at 3pm drove up the 65 miles to Concord for the Sammy Hagar concert. Was an easy freeway drive on a Saturday with no usual heavy west to eastbound work commute traffic. Arrived at 4:30pm and parked at a nearby Safeway strip mall lot where I added a quart of 10-30 oil and with an adapter, erased an OBD-II out of spec catalytic converter fault code that regularly occurs on my old Subaru.

As the venue parking opened at 5pm, quickly drove in, parked, and then over 80 minutes re-read about 40 pages of Ray Kurzweil's "How To Create Mind" while some highly jacked guy parked 3 vehicles away blasted rock. Despite the aural barrage, on this third read, I seem to be absorbing the at times difficult to adequately understand neural system concepts I am finding valuable including the way they relates to structures of rising artificial intelligence.

Of course, we have the current thread "Do You Ever Read A Book More Than Once ??" on which I added that the OP was obviously talking about fiction books because science and technical people often read non-fiction books multiple times or at least sections of, in order to slowly understand difficult concepts. My C language programming books are ragged from such continual re-reading. Would highly recommend anyone interested in understanding how our human minds work, read that best seller that has considerable material that recent research has significantly changed neuroscience understandings of. That is a key reason AI has exploded as with new understanding of cerebrum structures, such is being somewhat imitated by new electronics.

Had not been to this venue for about a decade. Like how improved and well managed it now is. Lots of expensive alcohol drinks and food sold including much for over $20. I survived the evening on two Swiss Miss milk chocolate packages carried in pockets. Lively crowd, with much higher numbers of older US native born rock fans than one sees at the big SFBA venues to the west that now tend to have many more wealthy non-natives that never lived here during the 70s>90s Classic Rock era.

Loverboy came on at 7pm, to play a set with a usual mediocre sound warm-up band system till 7:45pm. At 8pm PDT sunset a near full moon rose over the venue and vibes grew.

Sammy Hagar's super group came out at 8:15pm and played till 10:45pm. Included Van Halen, Montrose, Satriani, band era numbers. Instead of watching the stage, I danced like in a trance most of the whole set moving constantly through open pavement walking zones, where the audience was absent because they couldn't see the stage haha. So didn't see much of the band that doesn't bother me as have been there done that over decades. First saw Hagar at Cow Palace when he fronted Montrose at a date at the Cow Palace on a bill with the James Gang (Joe Walsh). Hagar is a rare rock era musician near my age like Jagger that still can move and dance.

News full review of last night's show:

REVIEW: Sammy Hagar and friends mostly pull off Van Halen tribute in Concord

Spent about a half hour driving around downtown Concord back and forth looking for the route 242 freeway entrance haha. Then drove home smoothly and was asleep by 12:30pm. This morning awoke at 6:30am feeling well. So got up and consumed a can of mic'd mushroom soup. Just returned from 9am mass and for next few hours will be at my computer starting to code my considerable pile of recent field work. But at 5pm will enjoy a nearby outdoor in a grassy park concert by a local blues band led by a Desi harmonica player. Since am looking so fit and tan now, maybe tomorrow, this 75 year old will take an up to date self bragger photo outside my residence then post herein.

That is so cute!

@RadishRose Thanks for the reminder. DD has been looking for some kind of container for her remotes/tissue/pens since forever and has found nothing that's small enough to not take up all the space on a very small end table. I checked Amazon and found this one that turned out to be exactly what she wants:

https://www.amazon.com/Multi-Functi...e&ref_=pd_hp_d_atf_ci_mcx_mr_ca_hp_atf_d&th=1

Dear me. DD is off to ER about her hip/knee/leg problem. She rarely complains so it must be really painful. My guess is they'll just load her up with painkillers and send her home. American medicine: treat the symptoms, never mind the cause. Sigh.

I thought she meant in between the apt. and the house. A small manageable house and yard?
No I don't think so because previously Id said that the top floor apartment was bigger but cost a lot more... and the ground floor was very much smaller but cost a lot less..

I already have a manageable house and garden.. lol.

No not sure at all *M*... that's my quandary. I'm just so used t having all the outside space, my total privacy etc...I don't know that I could cope with no outside space apart from a tiny balcony.. and living with people over my celling... However I have to really weigh the pros and cons. I want to move from here because of the recent circs, and start again in a place that he's never been in,..also I'm coming up to 70.. I've been on my own now for 3 years, there's absolutely nothing to do here for me unless I drive a good distance, or go into London.. I don't want to have to do that. I want to have everything close by, with a chance of some social life ...

I have OA in my knees and it's more and more painful to go up and downstairs..

The agent is pressing me on a decision on this flat.. and also people want to come and view mine... .. I'm not going to be pressured into making the wrong decision tho'..

What problems did you find when you were living in an apartment ?.. was this after your divorce .. did I know you then ?

Here's a chart from my power company website. It tracks how much electricity I use each day, how much it costs each day and how many kilowatts I use each day. It also shows temperature highs and lows. I marked it to show when the new heat pump was installed and when the new air handler was installed this past week.

So far, I see a continued improvement in energy savings. Yesterday the 17th, it got up to 94 degrees and I used 19kWh of power and power cost me $3.52 for the day yesterday with the whole house running.

The days of highest power usage earlier in the month is when the initial heating & cooling company was troubleshooting my old system and trying to figure what was wrong. Three heating and cooling professionals took a look and couldn't fix my old system. Actually they couldn't even tell me what was wrong and why I was experiencing poor cooling.

So I figured if that company couldn't even tell me what was wrong with my old system, why should I trust them to install a new system ?!?!?! So I chose a different heating and cooling company to install the new system last week. Bonus ... they charged less than the initial heating and cooling company would have charged for a new system ... about $1500 less and for the same 2.5 ton 14.3 SEER2 rated equipment.

Today I took some time to flush my hot water tank. Turned off power to the hot water tank and ran the hot water in the sink until it wasn't real hot, then hooked up a garden hose to the faucet drain on the hot water heater, ran the hose outside and let it flush for about ten minutes. Good bit of sediment came out. The hot water tank was working fine and may even work a little more efficiently now. It's a good idea to flush a hot water tank about once a year or so, and it has been a few years since I'd done so.

The joys of home ownership :ROFLMAO:
