I went to the supermarket this morning; got there by 8:10. After putting the groceries away, eating and watching just a little bit of T.V., and talking with my BFF, I started getting ready to go to the concert tonight. My son treated me to this Classical music concert which was held in Harlem, N.Y. I wasn't sure what I was going to wear and being able to tie the scarves to my liking is a big part of how I decide. I knew I would see some fabulous outfits and I was not disappointed. Lots of glitter, gold inlay. So, I knew I had to "come correct" as we say. You can't tell in the picture but the bronze areas have a slight glitter to it.

We got there a little after 5:00 but it was at least an hour before the ensemble started playing. Before the ensemble came out, there were performances by other artists, including poetry to music, introductions, acknowledgements and prayer. The concert was fantastic. Those young Sisters and Brothers (how we refer to each other in Islam) were amazing! The youngest was an incredible violinist who was 8 years old. Another was only 9.

The ensemble (either solo, as duets or a group) played pieces by many of the classical masters, including Beethoven and Chopin, but also played 2 classical compositions written by a 25 year old Brother, who directed their final performance of the night. The young Sister pictured here with me has such a beautiful soprano voice and she sang Ave Maria. I would see them again in a heartbeat. 🎶

@OneEyedDiva Wow...either you are very, very small or your son is very, very tall!

@hawkdon So that's what that noise is in the kitchen. It's dishes growling at me! Guess it's time to do something about them.

It's a lovely 59F right now, but starting today our temps are going back up to the mid- to upper-90s. Summer isn't done yet. Nobody asked me. If they had, I'd have voted for Drop, when the leaves drop off the trees, and the weather is much cooler.

Now that the weeding is done, maybe my Self can be convinced to dig up whatever the plants are called that the deer chewed off all the buds. For the life of me, I can't remember what they're called. Whatever they are, they've multiplied and are growing into other plants and getting in the way. Maybe I'll just dig them up and toss them into the overgrown side yard. If they bloom out there next year, fine. If not, that'll be fine, too.

Some critters munched all the sedum down to the ground, too, so no sedum this fall :mad:. Yeah, I know. critters need to eat, too, but there are plenty of things in the wooded side yard for their dining pleasure.

If I catch the doe out in the yard she will hesitate but if she gets sound or whiff of DH she takes off. She knows he's not sympathetic whatsoever.

When I turn the mattress it only puts the second static in place as I always sleep on the right, the way my husband taught me :ROFLMAO: If I could sleep on the left, his side, no problemo. But I can't! :ROFLMAO:

Mama just stuck her head in the door and ask if I was in the mood for Chinese roast duck (not a very subtle hint :)) today so it looks like we'll be headed north around 10:30 a.m. to be there when the ducks come out of the oven about 11:30 for lunch.....I really like it so she didn't have to twist my arm too hard.

It really was Hearlady. I forgot to mention that when my son asked the Brother to take our picture, he introduced me as his mother. The Brother made a screwed up face, looked at my son and said..."Your mother?!" He thought my son was joking. Then he asked me...is he really your son?! I said that's what they told me when they brought him to me in the hospital. 😄 Can't lie...I loved the compliment. And I thank you for yours. 🤗

Another thing I forgot to mention is that I was so pleased that they included the music of Chevalier St. Georges, a brilliant Black composer (actually he was bi-racial) who got recognition but not as much as he deserved because of his race. He was also an excellent fencer, a sport that did not have Black participation back then and he became an activist. I watched a movie about him on Hulu. More about him here:

@Georgiagranny
"Wow...either you are very, very small or your son is very, very tall!" A little of both GG. I'm only 5'2" (or maybe 5' 1-1/2" by now because I'm shrinking) and my son is 6'2". You should see me next to my youngest grand who is 6' 7".

It sounds like an amazing experience! I'm glad you were able to attend.

Good morning all...I'm catching up on back post, lovely seeing all the pictures this morning. Not much new here, the plumber that was here a week or so ago built a chimney cap for me and came yesterday to installed it. This morning I've been outside watering since first daylight.

@Jackie me, too, with the watering. We aren't supposed to get rain for the next week or more here.

Tried to post a pic, but it's too big and I dunno how to make it smaller.

Today's weeding has been in between the flowers. Not a lot to do because the flowers crowd out the weeds. With all the other weeding in the past week, I've discovered lots of space to plant in the spring. Um...stand by!
