How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

@hawkdon You mean it's Drop so you dropped ;)

I've been noticing over the past couple of months that I'm often a little off balance. Wonder if it's from lack of exercise.

@RadishRose I got both flu and covid vaccines this week...only sore spots from injections (knock wood). Had pneumonia vaccine last year.

Have we heard from @CinnamonSugar? @hearlady?
We're fine. We did have a tornado warning but all is ok. We had one strong band come through. Otherwise it was all to our west.

My son and I had an appointment with our glaucoma specialist today. We both had great checkups. I was dilated so that pictures could be taken of the back of my eyes. Blessedly diabetes has not affected my eyes.

After we left, my son stopped at the supermarket but I didn't go in because my eyes were so blurry I couldn't see well enough to maneuver the store. When we got home I ate lunch, watched TV ( which surprisingly I saw fairly well) then napped for the rest of the day.

Just woke up about 11:30 to go to the bathroom and clean out the litter box again before my son takes out the garbage.

Today is laundry day. It's 2:40 a.m. and I'm waiting for my clothes to finish washing in a minute. My son was still up so he took the clothes down for me which was quite helpful. I used two double loaders, something that I don't usually do. One was two pairs of slippers, a mesh Costco bag and a heavy duty vinyl lined tote. The other was dark clothes. I will start drying them sometime after 7:00. I'm always glad to get this done.

Another thing that I don't usually do is post on Senior Forums using my phone, which is what I'm doing now.. But using speech to text, I'm finding it to be quite convenient, especially when my cat won't let me use the computer in peace.
😺

A fascinating and apparently reliable article, What’s Normal Aging and What Can You Do About It? It seems to cover everything with the exception that seniors gain weight easier (due to slower metabolism and inactivity?)

BTW, because everyone's personal information is floating on the "dark web" due to data breaches, including social security numbers, I placed a credit freeze on my records, www.equifax.com/personal/credit-report-services/credit-fraud-alerts. Just another safety measure to discourage identity theft.

www.experian.com/blogs/ask-experian/what-is-a-fraud-alert/
... Requesting a fraud alert at any one of the credit bureaus automatically applies alerts to your credit files at all three bureaus. Each fraud alert deactivates itself on a preset expiration date. You can have a fraud alert lifted before its expiration date if you wish, but you must contact each credit bureau individually to do so. There are three types of fraud alerts ...

@OneEyedDiva having had a personal experience, you may know more about it than I am. It's also possible that credit freeze and fraud alert are different birds. Anyway, thanks so much for your kind comments.

10 am and I'm still sitting here w/ my 2nd coffee. Had plans to get a lot accomplished today. Had.

I will get get the bathroom scrubbed.
I want to vac the L/R, wash windows again, dust and put dishes away from the DW. The refrigerator is staring me in the face. There is no bad food in there, just messy and shelves need washing.

BTW, because everyone's personal information is floating on the "dark web" due to data breaches, including social security numbers, I placed a credit freeze on my records, Consumer Registration. If you do this with one of the three large credit reporting companies, the freeze goes also in effect with the two other companies. Just another safety measure to discourage identity theft.
Wise move. There was a recent breech of 100 million records just the other day.

So happy you're getting a walker, Hawkie! It sounds great. I'm sorry you;re so very sore and hope it goes away soon. Can you show us your walker? Is it a boy or a girl? :ROFLMAO:

YAY! Grandson day. Missed him this last Wednesday due to United Nations General Assembly traffic; will miss next Wednesday/Saturday as they are going on a vacation to Florida, of all places. They will be at one of the hardest hit areas by Helene.

It will rain all day, so we will play in my apartment all day. Son will cut cats' nails and do some shopping for all of us. Expect Pizza, Yum.

Rain and wind from hurricane came through here yesterday afternoon, no serious damage locally. Swam this morning. No major plans. Saturday night we cook out if we don't have other plans so I'll clean up the back garden and do that. I watched the first half of The Day of the Jackal last night and was mesmerized (the original, not the remake). May watch the second half this afternoon.

Plan is to sort through summer clothes and donate any that I don’t wear or aren’t flattering. I put a black tee on yesterday and realized it’s too long. I’ve had it for ages. Usually I say things have shrunk, it may have been me. I’ll organize things that work together and take a photo to jog my memory next year.

Yay on the walker @hawdon !
I've been weeding and sprucing up the yard. Clearing out dead plants too. I have some zinnias hanging in there. Though they're sparse, they add some color. Mums are starting to bloom.
I talked to a friend in western NC before the storm. Now she's not answering texts. I know there's no power and told her I don't expect a reply right away. However, now I just worry. She lives on the side of a mountain. Her children live in the area too.
I saw some video this morning of Asheville. Worst since 1791!!!!!!! It looked bad!! 😪

I'm sorry Packleader, but you are wrong about your credit freeze statement (I bolded the sentence). I already knew that you have to freeze with all three agencies because I just went through it. I've had my credit frozen for years and had to go in to two of the agencies to unfreeze it about 2 months ago because I was opening another account. That's when I realized I forgot to put a freeze on one of them (Experian, if I remember correctly). I saw a reminder that freezes must be done with each agency. I want your info to be safe out there PL, so please go to the other agencies to add freezes. Here is the supporting information from the web search I did:

"Does Equifax Freeze Match All 3?

Based on the provided search results, freezing credit with Equifax does not automatically freeze credit with the other two major credit reporting agencies, Experian and TransUnion. To freeze credit with all three agencies, you need to contact each agency separately and request a security freeze.
Here are the steps to freeze credit with each agency:

  • Equifax: Online, by phone (1-888-298-0045), or by mail (P.O. Box 105788, Atlanta, GA 30348)
  • Experian: Online (Experian Credit Freeze page), by phone (1-888-EXPERIAN), or by mail (P.O. Box 9554, Allen, TX 75013)
  • TransUnion: Online, by phone (1-800-916-8800), or by mail (P.O. Box 160, Woodlyn, PA 19094)
You can also lift or remove a freeze separately for each agency. However, freezing credit with one agency does not automatically freeze credit with the other two.
It’s essential to note that freezing credit with all three agencies can help prevent identity theft and protect your credit information. Additionally, freezing credit does not affect your credit score, and you can still obtain free copies of your credit reports from each agency annually through AnnualCreditReport.com."

Also, you always post nice pics. And stay cool and safe in that 100 degree weather!

Not a bad day today. Met up with the FAM at a local soft play centre. Likkle Grandson had his Daddy and I run ragged chasing him about while Mrs Oy and our daughter Likkle Oy looked after Likkle Grandaughter - who now a whole 9 days old!!! Came home alone for lunch then did a good Tai Chi session in the back garden. Now chomping on a Chinese meal from the local Takeaway. Singapore Chow Mein and Special Hot Chilli - Pheeeeeeeeeeeew!!!! HOT HOT HOT! I've put a toilet roll in the fridge as a precaution for the morning! :p:ROFLMAO:
