@hearlady I'm gonna ask @Capt Lightning to stop by on his way to my place and beg some of that vanilla, okay? It's something I was going to try years and years ago but didn't and forgot all about until I read your post.

I don't mind if it's only been fermenting for nine months...

I'll be glad to send some along and you should make some! I have these little bottles with corks from DDs wedding. They were message in a bottle favors. They look good anyway. 😊

I guess you could drink it @Paco Dennis. But, best to use as flavoring. 😉
So what’s it called? Vanodka? Vodillia? 😆

Yeah I just used up what brain cells I had left to come up with that lol. We are all still walking around in a daze. Hard to settle to anything.

I was re-reading DuMarier’s “House on the Strand” but my brain cannot deal with all those Cornish place-names and the ppl from the 1300’s names and titles.

And of course with the refrigerator emptied and the door propped open, I catch myself trying to shut it every time I walk by 😜

At least (for now) we have consistent phone service

This morning I had a phone call from work, they have something of a panic on, could I help. After checking with my lady that she would be okay, I called back to work and asked if they could give me an hour. They were delighted that I could help and readily gave me the hour.

That hour I used to zap round with the vacuum cleaner and duster so that the lady had no need to. Afterwards, I made her breakfast, ensured that she was okay and got away to work, where it was indeed, manic. I loved it. The problem was solved and corrected. A call to my wife to make sure that she was alright, she was, in fact she was in her cabin, measuring the trousers from the fabric that she recently bought. I promised her that I would cook one of her favourite meals this evening.

Eight hours at work just flew by. Home by half five, she was still in her cabin, pressing all the panels the she had cut out from the pattern of the trousers that she is making. I fed the cats, cleaned their litter trays, scrubbed up and prepared & cooked cottage pie. By the time my lady came to eat I had cleaned all the cooking utensils, prepared the table and served up. It's nearly ten pm now, I haven't stopped all day, it's been wonderful.

You sound like me, survive much better when I'm always active... it's hard now being retired with nothing of any value to do....

Incidentally, I thought you had a cleaner... ?

@horseless carriage I envy your activity and wish I had even half as much to do
What a kind compliment, thank you. Truth be told, I am grateful for not having something debilitating like my wife's heart condition. It was her gentle coercion that helped me quit smoking. It's been fifty-five years since I have had a nicotine fix. Back when I started smoking, cigarettes didn't kill you, well they did but only the tobacco companies knew that. My tobacco habit started when I was a student, cigarettes were so cheap that even a penniless student could afford them.

My wife is the active one, she puts me in the shade. It isn't easy for her to take things a little more slowly, but her surgeon would be proud of her for taking his advice.

You have a good memory, we do have a cleaning fairy and if memory serves me, you wished for an ironing fairy when I said that we had one. She's still around. Our cleaning fairy is going through a painful time in her life, like a drawn out, messy divorce. She gets here whenever she can, but she has two young sons so it's difficult for her at present.

That must have been a long time ago... I haven't bought anything that needs ironing in a very long time...

I did a run out to the neighborhood walmart. I decided I wanted to make a breakfast casserole for the next few days. Needed mushrooms, green onions and colby/jack cheese. I am also going to make sausage balls for the freezer, 2 batches, one for me, one for the kids.

I am proud to say that my son called to let me know he got a promotion to Assistant Manager and will be based back to the location closest to me. That will make it more convenient to stop by on his way home and it will be easy for me to meet him for lunch sometimes.

I have no idea what you're talking about with Biscuit mix or Bisquick ...lol... can they be made without using a packet mix ?
Bisquick is a basic boxed dry mix, that can be used for biscuits/scones, pancakes, waffles a flour mixture and a leavening agent in it. I am sure there is comparable product in the UK. It is widely used in all kinds of things here. Does that help? I am sure you could see it on amazon or google.

Well, GA power has pushed the date we are anticipated to get power from 10/2 to 10/6. Ah, more opportunities to build character! 😆

On the other hand, being hot and sweaty makes the cold shower much more pleasant 🚿💦🛀
