Bisquick has its uses, but scones isn't one of them for sure.

My manicure is a pain in the como se llama. I did them on Sunday, and they looked great. By Monday the polish was wearing off already, and they're too long so that it makes typing on this keyboard difficult and on my phone the next thing to impossible. Guess I should stick to shorter nails with just a clear coat.

DD took me to the store to get milk, but there won't be anything else today. Her deadline is midnight. In between now and then, she also has to take DGD to a doc appointment and move a mattress for DGD's BF, who's moving from his parents' house to a place of his own. It's gonna be a tight squeeze for DD to get her work done by midnight. One hour of tape = three hours of transcription.

Tomorrow she works at her away-from-home job in the morning so the next possible outing for me is maybe tomorrow afternoon. Cue fervent prayer 🙏 that the garden centers can stay in business without me until then ;)

@Trila Have fun washing worms🪱 :ROFLMAO:
I discovered this and I really like it. Lasts well and nails seem better after taking it off.lg_nail-rehab_nail-rehab---treatme_1.jpeg

Cable guy recently left, here almost two hours. Borrowed my ladder and took it to outside hall. Discovered wires in Optimum main box rotten and is affecting whole floor, possibly whole building! Was I the only one to complain? I usually am. The Only One. Others just live with things, it seems, without a squeak of protest. Just like in Real Life. But I digress.......so Optimum will send a fleet of cable guys & gals to fix problem.

In the meantime...........NO CBS, NO YOUNG & RESTLESS AND I KNOW I'M SHOUTING, FORGIVE ME! Will watch on computer tonight. Checked today's information and thank goodness the Sharon drama will not be shown today. Whew.

Can watch The View, which is on ABC and seems to be working. Then, doctor appointment on TeleHealth at noon and I'm starting to get nervous why he requested it. He never has before, usually just a brief phone call. I'm going to wipe the call from my mind until noon. Maybe he just wants to charge Medicare for an additional appointment? Maybe my blood tests revealed..............Oh shut up, Pepper's Mind. Don't worry Self till there is actual cause......

Got the Ottoman chest put together @hearlady ..it's the biggest and heaviest of the 3. The struggle was to get it upstairs but I managed, and then I put it together upstairs.. It's a whole lot bigger than I thought... ,

Anyway, after that I got all the chicken I bought yesterday bagged and frozen..ditto the spiced iced buns...

The rain has stopped but it's still very overcast and breezy... temps 58 F

DGD-in law coming to visit this afternoon with His Highness; Darius. She's on her day off. I cheated and bought a rotisserie chick yesterday and took it apart, placed in baking dish w/ some jarred gravy to heat up. I did make some onion and sage dressing w/ celery. I also baked a quartered acorn squash w/ butter and brown sugar. All I have to do is heat everything in the oven.

Salted caramel and vanilla ice cream cones for dessert.

House is almost clean, trash is out and I am washed.

Came home Monday from slightly too cool weather (highs in the upper 60s) to blistering hot temps for the next several days. I'm usually happy to come home from a vacay, but not so much when I'm returning to temps in the 90s and above.

Today's exciting agenda: take my car in for service, hit a couple of grocery stores before the heat of the day, put away some laundry that I put through the machines at 6 AM and are now hanging to dry, submit an invoice for a delivery DH made before we left town, and other little odds and ends.

Hope all have a nice day. @packleader and @MarkinPhx, hope you're staying cool.

Another blah looking day outside and currently everything is still wet from yesterday so I think I will just settle in today and sit back in a comfy chair and do some reading and spend some time with my husband. Just have a nice relaxing day, maybe watch a movie on Netflix with him while cuddling on the couch.

Our family dinner is this Sunday so I am cleaning too. I've decided on sausage and tortellini soup, roast acorn squash, sliced apples, and maybe foccacia bread. Some type of good bread. DSs birthday close so simple frosted cake and chocolate mint ice cream.

@horseless carriage I envy your activity and wish I had even half as much to do
Well Granny, you live in the most enviable State. Named Georgia after England's King George the Second, Georgia was the thirteenth and final colony. It's largest city being Savannah, where, until she passed away, a schoolfriend of mine lived. She was married to an American surgeon. We visited them many times over the years.
You sprung to mind this morning when a text came through on my phone. Shall I book you a ticket?

The organisers of this function know that I live close to the venue. They don't know about my wife's health issues of course.
Am I interested in day tickets? Yes please you know even though it's close to hand I might just book us in for the weekend at the hotel. I will have to see what my good lady thinks.

Thanks for the Sally Hansen Nail Rehab idea, @hearlady. I'll look for it when I'm out and about again (maybe as soon as tomorrow afternoon). I did take the polish off and file my nails down a good bit while leaving enough that it doesn't remind me of being in the bakery with nails cut down to the quick.

The lawn has been mowed. Yay me. I'm toying with the idea of trying One. More. Time. to grow fescue in the shady part of the lawn where the fungus has attacked in the past. It's too shady there for Bermuda grass. The fungus hasn't bothered it this year, but now it's so thin that it's almost non-existent. Gonna have to think on it because it'll cost around $100 💸 for just that small section, and I've turned into Polly Pinchpenny.

@hollydolly Remember that everything doesn't have to be done in one day. If all three ottomans aren't finished today, your back won't hurt tomorrow.

I'm no chef by any means, but why would meatball glue/filler require leavening?

I suppose flour makes sense, perhaps in some cases a little fat (though... with sausage???) and it makes sense to use a little egg I imagine. But in this case the baking powder just comes along for the ride since it was already in the box, right?
Just google sausage balls recipe. There are pictures and the recipe, how to make them. Then it will all make sense.

Oh no..I have no intentions of doing all 3 in one day..thanks for thinking of me, but my back hurts whether I'm constructing something or no.....anyway one of them ( the small one) has got to wait for 6-8 weeks after my new sofa is delivered... because it's going to be a footstool

Well, I have managed to do it but was in the kitchen most of the day. Cooked enough food to take me through the weekend.
On the dinner menu, roast beef, mashed potatos, green beans, gravy, dinner rolls and peach cobbler for desserts.

On the breakfast menu, layered mushroom and egg casserole, sausage balls, biscuits and cinnamon butter.

I used to cook like this all the time but it would only last one day. Leftovers were packed out with husband and son the next day. Now that it is just me, probably will last to Sunday. That means I can just sit on my backside and not even think about cooking and cleaning the kitchen. I have grown quite fond of paper plates for just such needs.

Lots of triple digits temperatures in our region today, possibly the hottest day of 2024. I don't have AC. At sunrise by opening the front door and windows, was able to drop indoor temps down to 71F that now shows 78F at 4pm PDT. Good day for some ice cream.

Another blood test today for my polycythemia vera blood neoplasm looked fine. 30 months now since first diagnosed then started treatment with daily hydroxy urea. My health remains strong. If I lived a few decades ago might already be dead so am very grateful to be alive in this medical science era. Also 11 days ago, I received a dog bite that drew blood leaving teeth marks from an off leash young unsocialized dog on a local urban paved trail, that has now nearly healed.
