In the Can You Top This for Dumb Stunt of the Day:

I usually heat up my coffee mug by running it under and filling it up with hot water because it helps to keep the coffee hot, then empty it and stick it under the Keurig.

Well...I sort of forgot to empty the mug and put it under the Keurig. The result was coffee everdamnwhere on the counter:rolleyes:

Reckon it's time for assisted living? Oh. Wait. This is "assisted" living. Don't dare tell DD what I did or she'll take my Keurig away.

Maybe I'll start a Dumb Stunt of the Day thread.
 

Sparking joy with my underwear!

Well I didn't get quite the thrill Marie Kondo gets, even though I had a whole bunch of new ones. Maybe it's because I can't fold mine into a two inch square they way she can.

I cleaned the whole house in a frenzy yesterday since we all had Covid last week and I was after the very last germ. Today it's just laundry.
 
Just had a SHOCK when I went to re-fill wild critter water
dish on little back porch....BLOOD all over the place!!! Like
the wild west out there, I guess one critter attacked another
critter on my deck...lotsa blood, no fur or feathers tho, so
don't know what kinda critters were involved.....I poured
hot water on the deck to clean it up a bit....shoulda had
my critter cam out there last eve.....!!!!

We had 3 channels and to get one of them my youngest brother had to sit on the TV holding a metal rake poised at just the correct angle with his elbows out and knees touching.

I'm with you. We had NYC's channels, 3 that were watchable. Technically there were 4, but the 4th was so fuzzy that we couldn't hear or see anything over the constant snowstorm. NBC, ABC, CBS and snow.

Have you considered applying for a second general use credit card, in case a similar situation arises?

Always two choices - a chicken or vegan dish. This year it's pesto chicken and eggplant rollatini. A few years ago, a fish entree was also available, but for some reason they discontinued that. Cutting corners everywhere. I have yet to win a door prize in the 13 years I've been attending. It also makes me wonder why it is always on Sunday. I'd prefer it on Saturday.

I finally won a door prize! A $25 gift card to a local eatery. They gave away a lot more prizes this year than usual. Maybe they got complaints. Of the 8 people at my table, 6 won prizes. Everyone got a t-shirt, too.
 
Found the recipe,, under Old Fashioned Apple cookies.
It uses one apple & I did add a bit of cinnamon to them.

I made the first batch in a hurry & think they turned out wrong. ?
I didn't use a large bowl & didn't chop the apple very fine.

I had been thinking I could use the blender to mix them.
Now having second thoughts.

If any of the cooks want add their thoughts,, would like to see them.

Cookies probably won't get started till this afternoon.

Sounds like the neighborhood is going downhill.....

Well, I've done that and yet I CAN top it. Took a shower and the drain was running slow, pretty much stopped. We just had DD and two girls at the house showering so I thought, well, they've clogged it up. Banged on the wall for DH to bring me the nifty Dollar Tree tool that snags the hair and pulls it up. I had a hard time getting it down there but worse, no hair.
Uh oh, something worse is going on. Expensive plumbing bill! Roots getting around the pipes.
I got out of my much anticipated but highly disappointing shower and dried off.
DH went in after and pulled up the lever to open the bathtub drain and the water drained out in record time.
Umm, yes, that happened. 😖 My little grandson probably shut it after we let it drain to signal time to get out of the bath. 👶

I did that for about a year after reading her book, then wondered why I was wasting so much time folding panties for heaven's sake! Stopped that chore immediately.

Some of her advice has been very useful, don't get me wrong. But spending five minutes folding underwear after laundering them because someone with OCD recommends it? No thanks.

I fold my underwear. I don't recommend it but I do reserve the right.
 
Happy Monday, October 21st, to all! It'll be a beautiful day here, weather-wise. There are a few things on my agenda, but nothing greatly exciting. TGS went home yesterday evening, so recovering from that a bit.

Dodgers vs Yankees in the World Series! I watched all the playoff games and think the two best teams in the leagues made it to the top, which doesn't always happen.

This should be an exciting series with plenty of runs scored, rather than boring pitching duels.

I've rooted for the Yankees since my earliest years, also became a Dodger fan when I moved to LA long ago, so I'll be happy for whichever team wins it all. Must say I'd prefer a Dodger win because, well, Shohei. ❤️
 
I've just spent an hour putting together a shoe rack... a nice polished heavy wooden shoe rack, but Oh MY , my hand hurts now all that screwing with the little Allen Key and trying to prevent the one side i'd already assembled from collapsing before I got the second side screwed... I could have gone to the barn and got the electric screwdriver, but I was just too lazy to go and unlock it all..
