Welp, looks like I'm going back into the stray cat trapping again, just talked with the local animal control and they are going to bring by a live trap so I can try to get this adult tortie/white cat in out of the weather.....wish me luck....;)

The Santa Ana Winds are awesome; you just have to learn to live with them and the work they create for us (blown down Palm fronds)

This morning, my wife and I drove to Anaheim to attend an expo for seniors, Golden Future 50+ Senior Expo. Well, you always can learn something new and useful. And I already registered for the "Automobile Club of Southern California - ID Theft Basics Workshop." Let's see whether I am able to learn something new.
Breezy here now. Winds are supposed to pick up on Wednesday, hoping they won't be too bad.

What did you think of that Expo? I clicked your link and saw there's one coming up not far from me. Wondering if it's worth the hour's drive.

Found the ID workshop you mentioned. Sounds interesting so I signed up for it using a junk email and faux name/address/phone. Wouldn't you know it, within 3-4 seconds of my pressing "confirm" on their website, a junk mail from Uber eats showed up with my faux info in the salutation!

I'm already a AAA member and am insured with them, so it's not like I'm cheating them by not providing real info.

My fears were confirmed that they'd not only sell my name, email and who knows what else, they did so instantaneously. The supreme irony is that this seminar is about avoiding ID theft - yet AAA immediately sold my info to at least one third party. Shaking my head...

Thanks @CinnamonSugar. I only have ground cumin and threw out my garam masala just yesterday... too much cinnamon in it, ugh. I put my acorn squash in the oven already.

So next time for the soup I'll get butternut. We have an Indian grocery not far and I want to ask them for a different garam masala and mustard seeds. Your soup sounds so good.
I ended up adding two small bay leaves while it simmered. Once it was done, I took out a token scoop or two of the cubed veggies, then lightly blended the rest with a stick blender (I don't like it super smooth); added back in the veg and now it's warming up after I added about 1/2 a can of coconut milk. It is totally *divine* =D

Back too from the optometrist; I really like him, he is professional, thorough and friendly (just the right amount). Dilated my eyes, took pics, and did an assessment with the bright light. He said my floater is 99% chance of not being an issue; he just wants me to come back in 5 weeks to make sure. (On the rare occasion, it can be an indication of a detached retina) I definitely said thanks for working me in so quickly!

It's been a lovely day today! Not summer temperatures but, warm enough to just wear a jacket.

M&S sell some nice salad things so I popped in and bought Slaw and Noodle, Pesto Pasta and a Super salad.

I also saw a friend I haven't seen for a while so, we popped into the coffee shop for a chat. My friend has joined a Wednesday coffee group, it's held in a beautiful old building and apparently they have talks by people who advise them on Wills and things. Last week they had someone telling them all about cholesterol and the dangers of blocked arteries. Riveting stuff. What a shame I am busy on Wednesdays ... :sneaky:

I was almost home when a cabbie asked me if I could knock on one of the doors as he had been booked to pick up the old man who lived there so, as I was passing I knocked on the door but then, another old man appeared three doors along and hopped in the cab. The cabbie drove off and I scarpered. I have no idea if the cabbie got the wrong door or the wrong old man

Anyways, interesting day ;):)

Seems to be lot of interruptions today.

That load of wood hubby loaded is on it's way to a new owner.

One of our tenants came up with the rent.
She stayed & talked.
He r sister's little dog got killed by pitt bull .
They are feeling sad about that.

I don't think they will get another dog.

Our wood customer stopped in to pay for the load of firewood.
Hubby has gone to deliver it.

We are under high wind warnings.
Lawns , weeds, trees are dry.
Don't burn outside.

I'm back from an overnight stay in Durham as DH had six month check up at the V.A. His PSA is way down so no sign of prostate cancer. One last round of hormone shot which he can deal with to be sure he went through the entire treatment.
Reeling from SeaBreeze's news. I know she'd tell me to hold him tight and be grateful for him. 😔

Thanks, 2 bay leaves and coconut milk...,mmmm.

Good visit with new opto!

Home all day. Re-organized two cabinets; the spice and boxed things one and the coffee one. Threw out a few useless plastics. Took out more trash.

A load of laundry, fed roast chicken and broth mixed with crunchies to Doggie, ran dishwasher, tended plants, baked a squash......not much else. It's on;y 4:47pm and I feel like going to bed. o_O

Super news for you and your husband HR... very pleased for you both... but as we've just learned from Seabreeze.. life is just so tenuous... so yes do hold your husband that little bit closer tonight 🥰

Laundry, dealing with our phone provider (they’ll call back in 3 days - we refused to deal with India), seeing my Opthamologist, making dinner and finished too early. My whole schedule is off after the time change. Worst of all, I was too busy to get my walks done. Really, all are just fuddy duddy complaints.

Good new, the clearance guy turned up at 9am instead of 10... he lifted the leather sofa and the tumble dryer by himself, I couldn't believe my eyes ..Jeez...... he was tall, not particularly big but super strong..

Anyway he asked if there was anything else he could take.. and I pointed him to behind the barn in an area behind my wall of laurel hedge.. where garden detritis get put.. old wooden fencing, old plant pots, old storage box , some iron plant holders.. and he's cleared the whole lot... for no extra charge.. I did give him a little extra...I'm delighted, in just 30 minutes all of it gone.. he even complimented me on my garden.. that's nice..:D(y)

Got a nice surprise in the mail when we returned home from our quick trip to Nebraska.

A letter stating that my military retirement will change due to ending my VGLI and SBP payments.
(Veterans Group Life Insurance and Survivors Benefits)
They stated I've paid in the required amount and coverage will continue unchanged.
It results in over a $400 monthly increase in my take home pay to my military retirement.

Nice to get good news from the government for a change.

I'm hearing a lot of sirens about two miles away. Probably a wreck. We are at the outskirts of our county so if they come this far whatever happened is not far.
I will be around home today. My plans are to mop the kitchen floor, work on my afghan, rake leaves (if it doesn't rain), and fill out new patient info online. I have my first dermatology appt. in Dec. I was referred at my last yearly check up as I spent a lot of time in the sun in my early days. There is some sibling history of skin cancer.

On my early morning walk at 6:50, its unseasonably warm 66,as I walked around the apt complex before breakfast
This has been the 1st time in a day or so I've had energy to go outside due to my head cold, was really congested but almost back to normal. I know what brought this on, the turmoil with my closing last Thurs and the sleepless nights. I've been wearing a mask inside when I go to pick up my lunch& dinner orders in the cafe,a few residents had thanked me for wearing it

Another crisp and bright day. Have done a few chores, just had lunch and wondering what to do with the rest of the day. Definitely going for a walk later and will pop into the pub to say hello to a couple of friends but, in the meantime, I might water the plants, put some washing on and thank my lucky stars that I no longer have to dash back to work :)

Have a great afternoon everyone (y)
