been a windy overcast day,,finished cleaning garden after the storm,,next doors kitchen roof blew off,so had a load od debris in my garden.
i lost a dustbin, looked high and low for it,,,it seems to be getting windy again grrr

Wet and breezy here, very grey. Housekeeper just left. Over the weekend I knit a large beret on purpose to felt. It is all wool and a nice color blue. I felted it in the hottest water I could stand with homemade soap, and it felted so well! Fits beautifully---looked really good on my housekeeper. She liked it.

I cleaned out my freezer and am now waiting for the food delivery.

What does it mean "to felt"? Never heard that before now....don

I'm sure you have seen felted berets and mitts. Here's how it works: you must use pure wool, and then knit loosely an object. In my case it was a beret which was really big. Then I gathered up a spatula, some natural soap, a bucket, gloves and the hat.

Fill the bucket halfway with the hottest water, add the bar of soap and the hat. Use gloves and the spatula as a stirring device and rub, stir, beat, and agitate the hat about 15 mintes. (At some point take the bar of soap out) Check out how the hat looks. It should'nt look like a knitted hat anymore but more like a fabric. If it still looks too big, repeat the hot water procedure.

The reason the felting happen is because wool has scales or barbs on it and when treated in the manner abouve they link together and make a tighter warmer and waterproof to a degree garment. Also it just looks cool.

Repeat the procedure until the garment you are making looks like what you want. Empty the bucket and clean it. Now fill it halfway with cold water and put the finished hat in, swish it around andd pull it out. Roll it in a towel, remove, shape and either put it in he dryer or allow to dry on a durface shaped like a head. In my case I used a vase that is perfect for this.

The cold water rinses as well as shocks thee fabric into stabilty.

Now you go try it!

haha no I'll let the experts do that, but thanks, learn something new today!!!

Damp today, but I did get to some leaves... again. 🤪 At least most of the snow is gone until the next round and the rain stopped around 2 PM and we got some sun.

Silicone-lubed car door seals to prevent winter freezing. Same lube sprayed into the snow blower to ward off sticking and clogging.

Got my plant lights late yesterday. I put those in place and ran them today. Should make the plants happier this winter.

Trying to drum up some Christmas spirit but it's not working so far. DD and DGD are decorating their tree. I went over and checked it out. Along with all the things DD has collected over the years, there are so many old ornaments from days gone by, some from me, some from my best aunt who died a few years ago, some from my grandmother.

My grandmother was a nurse, and back in the day, her patients would give her gift sets of handkerchiefs. After my grandmother died, my aunt found boxes and boxes of them and made them into angel ornaments. There are at least a dozen of them hanging on DD's tree.

About 30 years ago my aunt bought a set of 24 gold ornaments from Franklin Mint. When she died, I inherited them. Those are on DD's tree, too.

It didn't make me feel Christmas-y. It mostly made me feel sad:cry:

Some of you may remember my Saturday post about the guy laying eithern in, or off to the side of my road, - almost in front of my house.

Our deputy sheriffs arrested him for public drunkenness. While he was in the tank, they found out he is wanted in Oklahoma but I don’t know what for.

He is being extradited back to Oklahoma. For those not in the U.S. that is at least an eleven hour drive. My road is in the toolies and barely more than 1-1/2 lanes. How or why he ended up here is beyond me.

I later realized I was at the barn finishing evening chores when all this was going on; meaning it was already dark.. My barn is closer to the house where he got arrested than my house is🤯🤯

I was up before 3:00 a.m. I did some accounting and played games to clear the cobwebs out of my brain until it was prayer time. After I made my prayers I cleared what I call "The Creeps" (serious clutter) off my half of the dresser and dusted in the bedroom. I took a nap and woke up around 11:00. I then got busy cleaning up my kitchen, which was a hot mess because I didn't do anything yesterday.

A typical day for me. Up early to exercise, then red light booth after.
Coffee with my wife.
Decorating for a while.
Paint bathroom ceiling.
Power nap
Replace the oven igniter.
Donate blood.
Eat supper. (My first meal today.)
Watch a hockey game.
In bed by 10:30.
1:30AM, can't sleep.
2:00AM, checking in on all of you. 🤷‍♂️
I will take a couple hour nap later and be up by 6AM again, ready to have another busy day.

Morning to my friends....grim overcast day again... been raining throughout the night...

Got some deliveries coming today, I'll possibly go and pick up a few essentials afterwards.. if I feel like it.

The forecast is for sun later this week.. so I'll be meeting up with my best friend, and were going to vitsit an Olde world shopping village... and then have lunch

Today I was going through old Christmas lights, displays, ornaments, etc. It hit me that I have no memory of parents obsessing over past Christmases when I was young. They and us kids were all focused on the current Christmas.

So I think I'll do a little after-dark driving to look at outdoor Christmas displays around here and a few nearby small towns and maybe the main drag in the nearby city. There is a radio station here playing "all Christmas music" this time of year as well.

I have some gifts to wrap (though I'll mainly use bags) and I'll probably do that in front of the TV streaming one of those "Fireplace and Christmas tunes" things. The snow is gone but we expect fresh snowfall over the next couple of days.

So we'll see if "forward thinking" Christmas works out, but I'm not at all depressed about it personally anyway.

Need to do some spackling and painting in the garage where the water softener system had to be replaced. Laundry and some ironing which is my nemesis right next to washing windows. Get the rest of Christmas arranged. Track down two elderly friends who have gone MIA for two days. Yesterday I opened the freezer door and closed it quickly. No, the freezer fairy did not clean up for me. One more cup of coffee, a final count of toes then off to chores. There is light at the end of the tunnel - happy hour!

back from shopping...My goodness, you wouldn't believe the crowds in Both M&S and Tesco... I was in shock. I know it's ecember but still at least half the popualtion if not more get their groceries delievered.

Today it was sooo packed in th stores it was like we'd returned to pre-delivery days..only with much more people..literally shoulder to shoulder, trolley to trolley..... Incredible !.. ..and these 2 particular branches are 2 of the biggest stores we have in the country...

It's still very overcast.. Freezing winds.. Ithe wind just blew everything over ! actually got knocked off my feet when I was at the garage filling the tank with fuel at Tesco......

Thankfully it's all put away now... and I can get changed and settle down to an evening indoors..
