I did my nails. Later I took a Lyft to my podiatry appointment. The rideshare drivers always go to the wrong side of the building where the doctor is located. This causes them to take the longer route, so I give the address across the street. They come to that address with no problems. It was raining today so I'm glad my son was able to pick me up.

It is supposed to be 70 today, no rain, so I will be in my yard all day.
Dinner on the 22nd (family Christmas dinner) has been switched to my house. Guess what? I have no tree up, just a few decorations.
Luckily, I cleaned before we went on vacation but the yard is terrible. I want to at least rake up against the house so it doesn't look trashy.
DH did all that work on the bathroom (after 5 years of letting it sit unrepaired), but since, nothing. I need his help but last night he claimed he thinks he's getting sick. Great. Sorry if he is sick but he is not the type to power through it.
I've decided on crockpot orange chicken and jasmine rice in the instant pot. I can get that all started in the morning. I ran across some chocolate covered fortune cookies that I thought were a cute mate. Not sure on veg. Probably broccoli. Or smashed cucumbers.
If the grands notice the sparse decos, I'll tell them the grinch stole them.
Now where was that I hate Christmas thread?................😊
 
I 'm all set to drive to the next county to pick up some new boots and do some other stuff, plus I need to go to the Post office on the way. However my back rally hurts still.. I've been hoping it would ease off by now (11am).. but it hasn't ..so I'm no sure I'm going to be able to go..

Further the Postwoman has put a collect parcel card through my letterbox saying they've left a parcel at the local post office... which is a) strange because they know to put parcels over my side gate.. and this parcel apparently doesn't have to be signed for and b) the card states it's for someone with a different name... no-one I've ever heard of... :unsure:
Annoyingly I can't go and check today with the P.O..because apparently it has to be left for a full day before it can be collected

Anyway I'm all dressed ready to go out.. and I might not be able to go after all...fingers crossed I can....because I like to be back before it gets dark at around 4pm
 
"They" are lying again. Local TV says warm and sunny today after telling us yesterday that it would be foggy all day. Weather app on the phone says it will be warm but overcast all day. Choose one.

Can't think of anything to get into today. Maybe the sun really will come out, and I can go outside to play in the dirt.

Christmas is taking too long to get here.
 
My early walk at 6:40 temp was 'balmy' 45 degrees a bit breezy walked to end of driveway/crossed the street continued walking to local co op{am a member}. The store opens at 7,needed couple items. It took me 20min round trip
This morning, my plan to look in my cedar chest to see what Xmas decorations I can place in my apt, something I can hang on my door. The rest of my day read NYT,book hopefully another walk this afternoon before the rain comes. I called in my dinner reservation in dining room at 5:30pm tonight, never know who I'll be sitting with
 
Morning folks....it is coolish at 27F OUTSIDE, durn fingers
not typing very good today I guess....anyhow, will make it
into low 50's maybe...no rain....no big plans for me today yet....
Caretaker lady got me eye doc app't for 10th of Jan, to see
why I'm getting crosseyed LOL!!!....saw a fox leaving my back
yard last eve with what appeared to be a rabbit....poor rabbitt...

I "had" a post here, yesterday evening. But then POOF! I hit the wrong button and it was gone!

Sometimes I think I would like one of those "POOF and it's gone" buttons to use during my daily life!

Dio was feeling better yesterday, so we took my Mom to Wal-Mart. Dio bought sruff. Mom bought stuff. I bought stuff....and then I missed a bag at the checkout, the left it there. I must have been very distracted and tired, because that is something that I never do!

I know that my post yesterday was longer, but this is all that I can remember.

Today I'll be off to the gym, Library, etc. I think I'll be able to finish my Mom's electronic photo frame today!

Hi Folks...it's 3.15pm... but you couldn't tell because it's been dark since this morning.. never seen anything like this..barely daylight all day....

I honestly think I need therapy after todays' jaunt to the next county...
Traffic was just horrific.. not helped by every roundabout all through town having major works on it, so traffic was all down to one lane. Got to town car park which holds 1200 cars.. no space... not. single one, had to wait for a space...

Town centre was absolutely mobbed.. no-one is going to convince me now that people actually work for a living.. where do all these people come from on a Tuesday.. young, working age people everywhere... shopping. I've never seen anything like that in the middle of the week...

I went into the Mall..which was less crowded thankfully.. and finally Chritmas music and decorations..

I had to go into the mall to collect the items that I'd ordered online, but it was so hot with my big Parka on....

The shops outside the mall on the precinct were just mobbed.. you coud barely move for people...

This is just one aisle in one department store ...

I tried to get my hair cut , no chance, all booked up and walk-in one had huge a queue of people waiting

Honestly I've been shopping in that particular town for 50 years..I have never seen it like this ever... you wouldn't think that online shopping existed !
 
@hollydolly Hm. The malls here where I live are either mostly empty or abandoned. It's probably because of online shopping and big box stores. Yours looks festive at least, even if it is crowded.

@hawkdon Had I known that today was biscuit and sausage day, I'd have been there :ROFLMAO:

I went out to get a lottery ticket for tonight. The machine had hiccups, and it spit out three tickets. I figured if I chose one, one of the others would be a winner, so I took all three. Stand by.

It's so nice outside right now that I just had to play in the dirt while it lasts. Actually, if I'd known earlier, I'd have had my coffee out there this morning. If "they" aren't lying again, we might break a high temp record today, and if not today, it's possible that it will happen tomorrow...but "they" are probably lying.

that's the odd thing ... we also have Big Box stores... we also have online shopping...yet the shops are rammed with people.
On the return home I was listening to talk radio... and the subject was delivery drivers. ..Amazon..Evri.. DPD..et al... there was a phone -in... and one woman rang into say she worked for Evri for 27 years..still does. She said for the last 6 weeks she has delivered no less than 200 parcels per day.. 7 days a week.

Now that's one driver out of literally hundreds of thousands of delivery drivers... so why are the shops all so packed ?.. it's all very strange.

As planned yesterday, I didn't take a single doggone constructive action. My back is thanking me for it today - pain is mostly gone.

Cookie baking is on the schedule today. How much I'll do is open to question. I'll report back tomorrow.

A beautiful week ahead, weather-wise. No rain in the forecast which makes life easier, but this has been an extraordinarily dry November & December. Not good for the plants or reservoirs.

I'm on a well earned break!
I've cleaned up the front alcove/patio. That means clearing out pots of dead and dormant plants. Cleaning up the ones that are still hanging on and getting up all the leaves. I weeded in the rocks.
I raked out away from the house and DH, who is not sick, thank goodness, picked them up with the sweeper.
I burned four big piles.
I'll eat then start on the back patio. That will be enough to satisfy me. Progress, not perfection.

Christmas must have snuck by here. Daffodils are two inches out. My two peach trees are in huge pots and have not yet shed their leavs. Mother Nature is going through menopause and she is sharing her hot flashes.

7:45 this morning. Every soccer mom has cruise control set on 40 on a 55 road with no way to pass. I made it to my appointment in the nick of time. then the idiot rally of groceries, this and that. UPS store was a combat zone!
Now a dash through the house. Tackle a window or two. Thank a friend for a fire blanket.
