Just peeked at the pie. It's saved.

Yanno...I just don't understand. Carpenters measure twice and cut once. Cooking is the same kind of thing. Read the recipe. After all the prep is done, read it again.

And for crying out loud! Use a rolling pin to roll out the pie crust. She was trying to spread it out with her fingers. What the what? Because "it's too much trouble to use the rolling pin."

Hey! Remember when I was so incensed back mid-November when I sent an early birthday/Christmas card via UPS to my brother and it got lost? Well...UPS had already reimbursed me for the loss, and this morning it was delivered! LOL I told him to keep it. UPS will probably debit my account for the reimbursement, but I don't care. He's thrilled to have an extra $100 the day before Christmas, and I'm thrilled that he does. It's one of those Christmas miracles... 🎅
Must admit, I have never made a pie crust from scratch, I always use the piillsbury crust from the refrigerated section. No shame in my game, I just don't think I can make a good pie crust. I am a good a good cook and baker but something about pie crust scares the crap out of me.

Bet you can't guess what movie I'm watching ;) This is the Reginald Owen version, and I finally listened closely enough to hear that Fred's intended is named Bess.

When this one is over, I'm gonna watch the 1951 version with Alistair Sim.

I had to help the plumber move stuff out of my walk in closet so he could access the water pipes that run between it and the bathroom. I'm so thankful that he was able to complete the tub faucet installation without breaking the tiles! I envisioned a hole in the bathroom tile area and having to replace those tiles, which were discontinued. I have extra ones here but don't know if they would have been enough for a replacement.

The job was done by two brothers who are Jamaican. They are so polite, personable, obviously cultured. They are hired contractors for our complex. They did a great job and even did an excellent job of cleaning up after themselves. Al, who did most of the work is also a interior decorator/remodeler. I'm having them come back to make a couple of repairs in my storage an walk in closets. I'm also going to speak with Al about getting the kitchen remodeled, which has been put on hold since before COVID.

After they left, I ate soup for lunch and took a long nap. Since some of the stuff we removed from the closet was on my son's bed, I put those items back in after I woke up. It is almost midnight and I haven't decided what to eat for "dinner", a growing problem with me.

Well I started off today by spilling my coffee onto my keyboard
here  But what the heck, happens to someone every day
somewhere right!!! Wishing all who believe a very Merry Christmas.....:giggle:😍
Oh, sorry about that! I opened my frig to see that a milk carton had leaked. Luckily not too bad of a mess.
Then I started the coffee pot and it was halfway before I realized I hadn't inserted the coffee basket. Again, not too bad.
Good news: I'm enjoying my mug warmer!!

@hollydolly check Official NORAD Tracks Santa to see where Santa is right now.
(The website is slow because a million kids are using it right now.)

Merry Christmas to all of you, from the Packleader Family.

My wife takes care of the Christmas dinner, while I still have to wrap up some of the gifts.
Well, our large Christmas tree has been sleeping in the shed ever since our children left the nest.
I still remember: when they little, they slept all night under the Christmas tree.

I am 0 for 3 so far.

Went to shred some wood chips this morning... zilch... chipper won't start.

Went to install the on demand hot water heater in kitchen... zilch... short some fittings and all places closed for some holiday. (scratches head).

I know, I'll do something simple. Going to put battery maintainer on car. Zilch... maintainer seems to have vanished down the black hole.

Oh well... guess I'll cook up a bunch of venison for my fur babies.

The annual gift grab is done for another year. I was gifted way too much stuff but appreciate all of it. My faves? The 10 bags of Dove dark chocolate and the gift cards to the garden centers. Yay.

DGS is happy with his new mailbox. DGD is happy with the enameled pin that looks like her kitty. DD/DSIL are happy with their cash infusions. DGD's BF is happy with his Lego gift card.

Christmas dinner is in the oven. Finally got clarification that dinner is at 1.

I've already cut the tags off everything and thrown it all in the wash. While I wait to shift it to the dryer, I'm gonna play solitaire.

I am so relieved. I thought I had been robbed of a valuable but BF found it in my own drawer. There is something fishy going on here but I am just so grateful to have it back. And, it's Christmas. being robbed at Christmas time would have been too much for me this year. So I am feeling very much better and wish everyone here a peacefilled Christmas. It does matter.

Things are trying to tell you something! Take a deep breath, a fresh cup of coffee and call it Christmas!

Wet and grey out there. It will be a quiet and relaxing day. No laundry and no vacuuming! SO sewed two chef's aprons for me yesterday. Candy apple red canvas and big enough to be useful.
I have to call a friend whose children backed out of her 80th, Christmas and a stop by visit after initially suggesting all.
Mumsy was alone as to be expected as her daughter and SIL do not celebrate any kind of holiday - waste of time and money. She was fairly cranky. This call may require use of open ear policy:(
WOW did a good job on my hair.
I have ready bambi goulash and Spartans (Tiny hand made noodles which are a Swabian staple.). Apple strudel?

Oh, my. I ate more than I meant to, and now I'm a tad uncomfy and haven't even had dessert. When I do should it be peanut butter pie, apple pie, kahlua cheesecake or apple cinnamon cheesecake?

TV is on. The commercials aren't even for meds this time; they're all for food. No!!!!! I don't wanna turn it off because it's company. Can't read my home page because it seems that every other story is something about food.

If I lie down, I'll get heartburn. >le sigh<

Returned at 11am from a Christmas mass with much carol singing from a large combined choir. Said hello to a gal I had not seen in over a decade. Good to see she is still with us. So yeah a great way for this otherwise alone single person to really feel today's joyous spirit!

Back home mic'd and just ate a Marie Calendar Spaghetti with Meat Balls dinner.

Last 2 days have binged on way too many Trader Joe's Cachet Premium Belgian Chocolates. Watch this below YouTube link of couple eating and reviewing the 8 different chocolates in the $9.99 box with 3 sets, 24 each. I bought 3 boxes and have already consumed 40 and about to OD. 🤢

Now for some phone calls to make.

Merry Christmas To All Of You, from the Packleader and his family

I hiked this morning with my older daughter who lives/works in China and whom I see only twice a year; it's our "quality time." After more than ten years in China, she wants to come home permanently next summer. --- Usually our rain season starts in October/November and then everything would be green by now. But I haven't measured any rain at our house since last April. So, everything is still sunburned yellow/brown.

For the last many years, only at Christmas have we all come together.

2024-12-25 dinner.jpg

Left: my wife cooks three times as much as we possibly can eat, and the pies and desserts are not even included.
Right: TV Station Channel 5 in Los Angeles (www.KTLA.com) is playing Christmas music without commercials.

Shortly after midnight, I caught up with some posts here and on Facebook. I did some digital "cleaning". Too much stuff had accumulated on my desktop screen, so I put most of them in the recycle bin. Even though we don't celebrate Christmas, my son and I watched the Motown Christmas Special that had aired twice in a week on NBC and is now streaming on Peacock. We both enjoyed it. I highly recommend it if you are a fan of Motown music and artists. Other than that I played games, napped and watched disaster B movies, FF through to the end of a couple of them that were not holding my interest.

I hope everyone who celebrates had a lovely Christmas.

Spent Christmas Eve baking oatmeal cranberries w/pecans cookies and little loaves of applesauce raisin spice breads.
Christmas morning opened gifts while eating cookies and drinking coffee.
Spent morning painting main bath; still need to put it back together tomorrow.
Spent afternoon making more cookies, but added dark chocolate chips to the oatmeal/cranberry/pecan this time.
DH loves them.
Cookies for dinner.

Sleep well, all.
