How many meds do you take?

I have 3 of the 7 day pill boxes. Breakfast one is white, has a bunch of pills. Lunch is red, one pill and Supper is blue, again one pill.

It organizes them, makes it simple. I am 90, and I have come to appreciate "quick and simple".

The only prescription med I have is Trazodone, and it's just optional. I don't / can't take OTC pain meds, but have a couple vitamins I take(B complex, C,D3 and Magnesium.

Right there with you with the Trazodone and Magnesium but I take them for sleep. Better for our brains than Zolpidum my doctor assures me.

But I also take some supplements, a statin and two Prostate drugs because even though it takes longer and more frequent attempts I would prefer to avoid catheters.

I take Trazodone for sleep, works just as good as Zolpidem(Ambien) in my experience...

I haven't gotten in the habit of taking Magnesium daily, but I have heard that it contributes to better sleep.

I do not take any medication, at least not yet. I just turned 69.
Ditto. I do take buffered aspirin which gives many members here horrors but that's my only med and I'm cutting down on that presently because it's so hard to find and even the mail refuses to ship meds and even vitamins since January of this year!:oops::oops:

I wonder how many underreport all of the pills, gummies, tabs, blotters, rocks, joints, etc. they self-medicate with? If you watch any of that Netflix crap it looks like all of Europe is either stoned or on a bad trip as a routine part of culture there today.

Oops, forgot about those. šŸ˜‡ I quit drinking alcohol but will partake of an occasional gummie or joint, either as medicinal or recreational .

Levothyroxin -- hypothyroid
Metoprolol -- blood pressure
Olmesartan -- blood pressure
Simvastatin -- cholesterol
Omeprazol -- acid reflux

I think I should be taking Starsong's supplements, particularly that D3 because I rarely go outside.

if you're going to take D3 make sure you take K2 with it...so many D3 capsules come as a joint supplement..with K2 already in them...and not as separate supplements

Combine vitamin D and vitamin K correctly

The bad news is I took the wrong medication tonight while getting ready for bed
The good news is I'm now protected from heartworms and fleas for the next three months

This made me laugh.

For a time, I had some sleeping tablets. I remember one day when I was living in Suffolk, and I had an important meeting in London. The train journey was 2 hours one way, so lengthy. I was running a little late, and quickly got myself together to run to the train station. It was ten minutes later, and just before I left my home, that I discovered I'd taken two sleeping pills in error. I had to cancel the meeting. :D

Anyway - prescription drugs? 7.

I realise this is what you've been told.. but my question is..when you break it down to brass tacks..do you really NEED 18 pills to keep you alive...or are some of those pills offsetting the effects of others..?
I appreciate your concern, the same one my son has. I have many different conditions, different doctors, under the umbrella of my hospital. I am being closely guarded and cared for. I have doctors I trust but will be changing my PC doc for unrelated reasons.

Medications have been cut out over the years, sometimes with disastrous results. I feel comfortable in this current medication "regime."
