We pain sufferers should unite and help each other to distract ourselves to reduce chronic pain. Distracting the brain by engaging in other activities like playing computer games can do the job.
I like chess for it's mental concentration and Civilization VI for total absorption for hours. That Civilization VI is really the best and my pain totally disappears when I play it for a few hours. If I can't sleep due to pain, I just play the game!Which types of games,
could be interactive like that sounds as if it would be?
Or, what are games that one could choose from?
My knowledge of computer games is very limited.
That's a great idea! However, my pain stems from MS. It's difficult to describe. Mostly in my legs and although I am on strong pain meds (which I hate taking) as well as muscle relaxers (which I also hate taking as they make me very tired) there is little I can do. This site DOES help though! We pain sufferers should unite and help each other to distract ourselves to reduce chronic pain. I adore Mahjong! I recently purchased 2 christmas themed gamesOh yes, I also play Mahjong on my phone. It's fun and helps, too.
I just downloaded a Christmas Mahjong but have not played that one yet. I have several of them now. Keeps me on my toes and detracts from pain and other things that can get to me at times.I adore Mahjong! I recently purchased 2 christmas themed games
Coming here helps me distract myself from my pain. My pain causes me to get angry that I can't do something especially if it involves standing. So going back and forth between my computer and whatever I am trying to do (sometimes cooking, sometimes cleaning the bunny cage, washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen) really does help. I have to sit down to get relief. We pain sufferers should unite and help each other to distract ourselves to reduce chronic pain. The other thing I do is adult coloring books while I listen to music. That helps me relieve the pain because of course, I am sitting down.

What's PK?
Distraction sometimes works for me. Silversurfers games has a large variety, simple to play but challenging enough to be interesting. Free to join and ads not too obstructive.Coming here helps me distract myself from my pain. My pain causes me to get angry that I can't do something especially if it involves standing. I have Diabetic nerve damage in my feet. I don't take any medicine for the pain.
With all due respect ..... then it is not severe enough. When it gets there ........ you'll take something.
Not qualified to reccommend so I'll just say. Ya might want to research Alpha Lipoic Acid.
For me, it really takes the edge off. There are nights when I can do without it, but other nights I'm so glad to have it handy.
Which brand and what dose, of the ALA, do you take, @rgp ?
I think I tried that, some years back, with no noticeable effect from it, but I would try it again.
