How many TV/movie murders have you seen?

I'm a fan of "Perry Mason". There are 271 episodes. That means there are at least 271 dead bodies lying around. Then there's Gunsmoke's Matt Dillon, who at least winged a guy in every one of 625 episodes. Law & Order has bodies all over the place.
How many TV/movie murders do you think you've seen?

I don't know, since I didn't count them. But as I was younger (teens to 30s or 40s maybe) I've watched many movies with dead bodies. I didn't watch them anymore for more than two decades, since the reality is much more devastating.

More than 1 less than all of them. Heloise is a big mystery fan. Current favorite is Astrid, which is quite creative.

I would not be able to count them! I love police, law, mystery, and crime shows/movies. Investigation Discovery channel is my favorite channel. Homicide Hunter with Joe Kenda (my favorite detective), People Magazine Investigates, Evil lives here, Fear Thy Neighbor, Web of Lies, Swamp Murders, See No Evil, Disappeared, etc...
On regular programming, I watch Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order Criminal Intent, and Law & Order Organized Crime. Also Chicago PD, 20/20, Dateline and 48 hours. There are others too on Netflix, Hulu, etc...but I do not want to bore you!😉

If only real life was like all those movies and tv series. On screen the murders sre never as random as in reality, and the killer pretty much always gets caught and brought to justice. Hardly any corrupt cops, especially in the older shows.

In more recent years there was a series called Luther, starring Idris Elba. Highly acclaimed. Elba was excellent. Personally however, I found the portrayals of violence sickening, and maybe too close to what some of the real crazy people out there are like. No more for me, thanks

In try to steer clear of murder as entertainment. I was curious about the JonBenet Ramsey case though and wonder if they will ever solve it. The parents were vilified by a corrupt system.

In my entire lifetime? Probably a lot. I enjoy murder mysteries. I always like Sherlock Holmes books. My parents loved Perry Mason so I grew up with that one on TV and I liked Columbo, and Clint Eastwood with the Dirty Harry movies. And Thelma and Louise, of course. :giggle:

Impossible question to answer.

One thing I'm reminded of is an American historian, commenting in some TV program, who said many more people were shot dead in movie Western two-guy street showdowns—or in movies depicting 19th-century range wars—than actually were killed in those situations in the Old West.

Too many to count. Real life, documentaries, tv series. I think I watched all of the American ones, now I'm watching British, Australian and Canadian ones. I have Britbox and Acorn tv. Just recently started watching older UK crime on YouTube. I don't do it 24/7. Just when I am in the mood. But I do set aside Sundays for 'Snapped'.

I wish I understood human lust for murder. It seems the biggest 'entertainment' genre in the world!

Why?
In my case, I like to learn about police work and law. It fascinates me. I also like to learn about the mind of the murderer, the forensic science, and if justice was rendered.

Me exactly. I like competing with the cops/detectives/forensics experts, see if I can figure it out first.

Don't think it is a "lust" at all. If it is a lust, am thinking it isn't a "frequent" lust or I certainly HOPE not!
