In this photo is a woman named Gladys Berejiklian. She is no oil painting although since becoming Deputy Premier of NSW her grooming has improved a lot.
The man next to her is Mike Baird, the Premier who has today announced that he is retiring to spend more time with family.
He is good looking and charismatic but a bit too soft for such a difficult role.
Gladys is a strong woman who has done a good job as Transport Minister and then as State Treasurer.
She is a strong, competent woman and by rights she should be considered for the premier's job but I don't like her chances, one because she is a woman and two because she isn't as photogenic as the man now in the job. My guess is that it will go to one of the male party hacks, regardless of his face.
So you see, you are not the only one with this problem. If she gets the job, I will let you know.
This lady is Professor Marie Bashir who is a former Governor (Queen's representative) of NSW. Here she is with Prince William and her husband.
Not only is she no oil painting, she is also very short in stature. She is almost universally admired as one of the best governors that this state has ever had.
And speaking of not being oil paintings, how about this lot?
That's Marie on the right and on the left is the then Premier of NSW.
The couple in the middle need no introduction.
