How much is your license plates cost a year?

we have tags/license plates on our cars/trucks that have a little one inch sticker with the year on it... every two years we have to give the MVA money... a tax or fee you can call it... for the rest of our lives while we own a car. And we pay for emissions testing every two years on our cars... $10... another fee or tax our government imposes on us... taxed on everything here in America.... they tax us twice for things like tires and motor oil... once when we buy them, again when we dispose of them.
In Ohio we get our little sticker once a year and our emissions test don't cost anything. Our little sticker cost about $55 a year or somewhere around there I'll find out when I go to get it this year.

We have 50 states and 51 different sets of regulations. Registration fees vary widely. Some jurisdictions like to raid the highway funds to pay for trolley (tram) cars and bicycle paths.

Here in PA, like the other PA drivers/owners, I pay for the car registration each year or I can make a 2-year payment, but no discount, if I chose to do so and then every 4 years, I have to get a new driver's license, or I can chose to get just a 2-year license because of my age.

Then, I have to have my cars inspected annually for both mechanical and omissions. Each require their separate w/s sticker. We no longer get a new plate sticker each year to show that we have paid our registration fees. Instead, police cars have scanners mounted on them that scans the tag for the officer to find out if the registration is current.

As a cop, I preferred the sticker. When computers go down, their useless. Mobile computers work a bit different than the computers we are used to using at home.

Hahaha! I said $26.00 (because I thought that's what it was last year) but I just got the renewal in the mail and it's $50.00. Don't want to put out misinformation.

We pay what’s called registration once a year and as we live in a country area 160 km s from the city (Adelaide ) we get a discount on our Registration which is about $460 a year if we lived in the city / suburbs we’d pay $700 .

Most states require a road worthy certificate every year before you can reregister the car ,however
South Aust where I live has never introduced that law.
We renew our drivers licence every 10 years at the cost of $300 ( that’s a discount price for seniors )
apart from that we pay comprehensive insurance as well as a goods and services tax on most items we pay for or buy

In NSW we have to register all vehicles including cars, motor bikes, trailers and boats every year. The cost includes third party injury insurance and a vehicle safety check. For pensioners (that's us) the bureaucratic charge is waived. We select the insurance company and service station and the costs varies. Usually people shop around to get the best quote.
