How much sleep now that you are retired do you try to get every day ?

Retired? Who's retired? Tried it for a year and got bored. Also, the bank account was getting smaller, so I had to go back to working in the healthcare field. I like it.
I do about 4 light plumbing jobs a week and yes buys groceries , etc plus was simply to bored .

A friend who retired with a Masters in chemistry and worked for a big pharmacy co recently bought a food truck as he always wanted to do it , we have been fixing it up but not much required and he still needs his permit

I wish I worked in healthcare as rewarding . I did not go to College only trade school .

Don't try to get a certain amount. Go to bed at night when I get sleepy. Wake up & get up whenever. Then there are naps when I get the urge to take a nap. Probably average 10 hours a day.

Kind of sad when you think about how that impacts your lifespan. Figure 2 hours for misc. activities not related to doing something enjoyable. Combine those 10 hours asleep with the two hours of misc. & your years in retirement are ?

Lol true

Sleep is priceless, particularly good sleep where you get sufficient REM sleep and Deep sleep. I average 8+ hours of sleep but quality is more beneficial that quantity. This morning: even though I got over 8 hr.s of sleep I felt not ready to face the day...that is actually common for me. But today I went back to bed, fell asleep or another 1-1/2 hr.s, got up and took a shower...I'm ready for lunch.

I for most part eat what I want but as of today at 73 other then some hip arthritis which " took care of " I have never had a single health issue and I attribute this to sleep .

I sleep in shifts. I’m lucky if I get four hours at a time. The dogs wake me up around 1:00 AM to go out; their yard is fenced so they go and I wait for them inside.

If I have to go somewhere, I am used to no sleep and figure I will nap when I get home. Pretty soon it’s supper time for the horses, so no more napping until they get fed.

<sigh> Nupe, I have no idea how much sleep I get and it changes every day.

Now that I'm retired I typically stay up until 1am (mostly on forums) and wake up at 10am. One morning I slept until 11am with no alarm and hubby said he was going to put a mirror under my nose to see if I was still alive. If I get up to pee at night I never know it because the Trazodone does its thing. I usually wake up at about 8am to use the bathroom and go back to sleep until 10am.

I do dream every night and remember the dream after I wake up so I know I'm getting REM sleep.

Im usually up until 1am too. Sometimes I stay up till 3am.
If I go to bed at 1am I usually wake up around 7-730 am.
That doesnt mean Im ready to do stuff. :D

When I was younger I slept 8 hours and always wished I could sleep longer.
Now I only need around 6. I dont get up in the night to P.
But as soon as Im awake I need to make a rapid trip to the loo.

Once Im up, Im up. I dont nap. The husband would get up at dawn and then nap all day. :D

When you tired take a nap, you don't need to worry about getting up with the time clock to rush hour traffic.
If you feel tired around 2 pm or so take a nap if you want. The important thing is to stay as active as you feel possible.
Daylight are great out doors for sunlight, fresh air and the feel! So just play it well.

I don't feel well if I have less than 4 hours sleep. And I feel more energetic if I get 7 hours sleep. But I usually get 6 to 7 hours sleep even with sleeping pills. I have insomnia problem all my life. I believe it's somewhat genetic because my mom have severe insomnia problem too.
