How My Work Order Went

Today I finally heard back from the manager here re the worrk order I gave him and the maintenance guy. Turns out no kitchen. His insinuation was that they would wait till I moved out which I took to mean that I died. I will get the sink stopper, however. Yaaah me!

I also will get a new electric strip heater in my bedroom, and they are going to discuss the hot water heater. As far as any thing else, no go.

So I'm kinda pissed, but I understand it's better to be pissed off than to be pissed on...


Thoughts anyone?

Outside of the place I've recently spoken of, there are no other apts in the area that I'd be willing to go to. I check the area every day.

Can you talk to them and say you want need to be on the first floor. Maybe they’ll give you a priority.

Well most of the replies in your thread about should you move were yes, move because your apartment is in such disrepair and the other place seemed nice. I take it you decided not to make the move (or lost the opportunity), so now you have to deal with whatever comes (or does not come) with the apartment you're in. Seems like to me you are being p*ssed on because you are being offered (IMO) unsuitable alternatives to the repairs you requested.

Is it possible to transition to a newly refurbished apartment within your building, at a higher price.

That is quite common where I live.

I’ve thought about doing it myself to get a ground floor apartment but I’m just not ready for the expense and hassle of a move.

It is, but I am closest to smaller interconnected towns that are about 15-20 miles from here and I don't drive due to my disability. I will not go to the city even though there are lots of renls there. I have been looking all over he state but its either no open apts or there are 0 conveniences. I'm working on it.

There are a few members here that live within an hour of here but I won't invade their privacy.

Whoo-Hoo!! Just got a knock on the door and the maintenance man was there. He came in and we talked....Tomorrow morning at ten I am getting a BRAND NEW hot water heater, the heat repaired in the bedroom and a stopper for the kitchen sink. I also was asked to contact my Dr for a new vanity in the bathroom so they can get me a new one!!!

I have always had a decent relationship with the maintenance guy, Steve, so when I asked him how this happened he told me he went to bat for me and pushed for all of this and he said it was hard but he got it all.

I am overwhelmed!!!

Way to go. All you needed was one person to listen to you and believe you and it happened.
Good for you. I am SO happy for you. Now you can at least have a hot shower. A new vantiy in the bathroom is nice also. Once again, I’m SO happy for you.
