How would you reply? read below.

It's hard to know what I'd answer without knowing anything about what precipitated it. Did you have a "history" with this person? Were you perhaps competing for the same job or promotion, and you got it, and she was trying to be funny?

Or was she a complete stranger to you, you just happened to work in the same place, in which case I'd probably ask why, or if she was otherwise acting like something was wrong with her, I'd just walk away.

There isn't enough information in your question to be able to answer.

Hi Sunny :) this is just a random topic, and I jumped in with my experience
from many years ago. Best I recall the coworker approached me on my lunch
break and blurted out her opinion. I at the time was working at a local branch
bank, and this coworker was always thinking that I dressed up too much for work.
That is the only history I recall with this person.

LOL I guess that'll make some people mad.

I used to work in the Pentagon, which has huge cafeterias. One morning I came in wearing my brand new white summer dress, and floated up the room to the coffee. A woman already up front walked up to me with her 32 oz cup of coffee and deliberately threw the whole thing on my dress. After the initial shock, I started to laugh and so did the whole room.

Why would she do that? I'd have a hard time laughing. I would have been in mixed emotions. At first, I'd be puzzled why she would do that. I would be upset (but not show it, I wouldn't want to give her the satisfaction of knowing she upset me), I'd have my feelings hurt because I wouldn't have thought I deserved that kind of treatment. Last but not least, I'd be teed off that she did that to my new dress, let alone it being white. Did you know this woman?

Now that imo was a very jealous woman ;)

A statement like that would affect me tremendously. I would probably become flustered and say, "I'm sorry to hear that." Then I'd avoid that person as much as I could. However, if I had to work with them all the time and they kept saying or doing things that were derogatory, I would go to the supervisor and voice my complaint. If the supervisor did nothing, I would leave. Life is too short to be around people like that.

I would rather have a co-worker say that directly to my face than to know they didn't like me but pretended they did. When I started at a new company, there was a co-worker who was already working there who had applied for my position. I had no idea he had applied. He was overly nice to me in all of our interactions, then I heard he was bad-mouthing me behind my back and saying he was more qualified for the job. It came as a complete surprise and I never again trusted him.

I've run into a number of people in business that I knew didn't like me, mostly because we were put in competitive situations, but no one has actually told me to my face. If they did, I'd probably say "Stand in line".:ROFLMAO:

No, I didn't recognize her.

I think it was purely, a momentary impulse and we could all see that. That's why we all gasped and then laughed. I couldn't be mad it her.

I did have to go to the restroom, take it off, rinse out all the coffee, and dry it under the hand dryer,
