I have 41 pairs of socks....

..just counted earlier today while tidying the sock drawer... so then I counted the underwear drawers.. both drawers, have enough in there that I could wear a clean set every day for about 2 months... and there's nothing old, worn or tatty

I have more shoes , boots and bags than enough , as many of you already know....
I believe I married your sister....

I had a partner that didnt match her socks... just tossed them in and grabbed 2.... great laugh day when she acually had matching socks on

I have always wondered why socks have to match, anyway. Why should it matter?

OK, shoes do have to match, as you'd probably walk "funny" wearing two different shoes. But socks, especially if they are the same thickness? Who cares? 😁

Remember Glamor Magazine with it's Do's & Don'ts column? I think different socks would wind up there! I checked Do's & Don'ts every month with the fear I'd be in there! They always covered the women's faces with a black rectangle!

Anal OCD personality here. In my closet all the clothes have to hang facing left. Evenly spaced hangers (from my military basic days - gig line). The extra few shoes I wear all lined up below. 16 pair of 'white' socks along with 16 pair of black or gray jockey shorts in their drawer (easier to match after bi- weekly washing). 16 collared pull over shirts, pants (both short & long - 8 ea), hung neatly on hangers. Hats line up on dresser, 3 (ONLY) jackets/coats on hangers. We won't even go into my other belongings (wife has her guidelines). I spend too much time making sure everything is in it's place! I think she gets in the closet and mis-aligns the hangers to get even.

41pairs?... I have one pile (in a drawer); mostly similar, some holey. When a hole gets too big, I tie a knot in that sock and throw it at the garbage can in the bathroom.

When the pile starts to look small I buy another bag of socks; same brand, same color (white).
Threw all of the dark socks away when I retired the first time.

Enjoy!

I'm sorry you can't go Chic... :( that must be rotten to know they're open but you just can't go... at least with ours all being closed, irritating as it is, we know everyone's in the same boat here...
When will your stores open again Holly? Our nonessential stores were closed from last March til last July but have been open for business ever since though a few have gone out of business or are filing for bankruptcy.

those little ones that poke out just above the top of my sneaker when I put them on, then promptly slide down to bunch up at the middle of my foot within 30 minutes.
Those things are so irritating.

Sure do remember checking out those Do and Don’ts.

Things I have too many of:
Bags - if there’s a bag for any purpose, I need it. This includes purses, storage, travel packing bags, suitcases, backpacks, etc, etc. I do love bags.
Pens & playing cards. Both as souvenirs. I rarely use either.
Socks - no. 10 pairs of black and 4 white. In the harshest part of winter, socks are one of the most requested items. I packed up my extra pairs of new ones and donated them. Purged others in the drawers since they were taking up space.

I'm not being critical, but it makes me chuckle that a thread about socks has generated 84 posts and counting, including my own. ;)

just counted my tees, and cami's.... 81... even I'm shocked...

all our stores closed last March.... in late summer they opened again for a few weeks then were closed again at the beginning of November, until 2 weeks in December.. then closed again the week before Christmas, and we're told they probably won't re-open until Easter ...:(

That's terrible. You're lucky to have enough on hand.

Costco, Walmart, Target and other stores that sell groceries also sell socks. Plus there are so many online retailers. I don't understand why anyone has difficulty buying socks. Can someone please explain it to me?

yes , although I've donated a lot of stuff, when the lockdown happened almost a year ago now, I decided then not to donate any more until everything is back to normal , which means of course I have plenty clothes for now ( although I've put on weight and not everything fits any more ... but also it's not all bad because our major supermarkets also sell clothes..

I just bought a new blouse and tan ankle boots the other day...

I don't actually need them per se, but when everything has been taken from you..including hair salons and beauty parlours, we do need to cheer ourselves up somehow...

Hair salons are just reopening in our area. I'm hoping to get an appointment to get mine cut next week or the week after.

I'd gone all year without a hair cut, and then the salons opened in November and I managed to get mine cut... I booked a trim for the following month, and the day before I was due they called to say that the hair stylists all had covid-19... then 2 days after that all the salons closed again... so I've been wearing my hair up ever since December...

Nearly all in my drawer are summer socks - those little ones that poke out just above the top of my sneaker when I put them on, then promptly slide down to bunch up at the middle of my foot within 30 minutes.
Y'know, when I bought those, I thought I'd have that trouble

Nada

No sliding (I do seriously hate that)

But

At first, I had the urge to pull 'em up
I think I ripped the first ones out....just by pulling

Now?

In summer, I'm stylin'

I have 30 or 40 of those
All the same

we call those type trainer socks ( to wear with trainers so as not to be seen) ..dunno about you non Brits.. and yes they don't slide down like you would expect them to even if you wear them with regular shoes

I just recently purged my scarves. I had over 40. I have small kerchief type scarves, infinity scarves, pashmina style scarves. I have scarves big enough to be small table cloths, strangely shaped scarves, Xmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, thanksgiving themed scarves. Solid colors, patterns, every color.

Did I mention I love scarves? šŸ˜‚
